Grateful for this video. I have avoided therapy as an adult. I was scared of scratching the surface and not being able to deal with a diagnosis. I realized I was a child and most of my trauma was not my fault and I was relieved to have grieved my past and learn to forgive myself and others.I am grateful for everything I have overcome and learned from my past trauma and pain. I feel a sense of peace I also know I have more emotional turmoil to process and now I don't feel so hopeless.

I cry most days and cry like a boss cos I've been doing it that long. I just imagine it flowing through me and put up no resistance. I've collapsed in tears before and just lay there.
The main cause is parental alienation from my daughter by my ex. 20 years. Thought it was over but she had a baby at the start of the year and I've seen him for a week. It's the saddest thing. I've learnt some kind of acceptance though, which involves the crying.
It's our built-in release mechanism.. The problem, as always, is what we've been taught. Unlearn it ❤

Your capacity to embrace your feelings, even to tears, shows your authenticity and maturity in emotions. It's encouraging to hear that you've found acceptance in this challenging situation. Acceptance can be a great tool for healing and growth. You are completely right that sobbing is a built-in release mechanism, a way for us to process and release our pain.
Keep in mind that you are not alone on this path. Many people who watch this video and read your comment will definitely find strength and comfort in your comments. And your lesson about unlearning what we've been taught is a powerful reminder that we have the ability to break away from patterns that no longer benefit us. thank you for sharing your story with us. i feel like the majority (if not all) young people (teens,20s) just kind of live life with the assumption that depression is just a part of life.

I completely get where you're coming from, and it's very concerning how many young people are suffering feel hopeless as if it's a normal part of life. You are completely correct that something needs to change. Our modern civilization is frequently separated from what our human nature craves most: meaningful connections, purpose, and a sense of belonging.
It is important to recognize that the pressures of modern life can weigh heavy on the shoulders of young people. But keep in mind that by sharing your opinions and starting this conversation, you're already contributing to the change you want to see. We can work together to create a society that places importance on mental health, supports one another, and promotes a more natural, fulfilling way of life. All my life I was trying to get some help bc of my complex ptsd - but all I did find is a whole bunch of really uneducated therapists, coaches or psychiatrists like the guy with his bible....since I turned 64 years lately, I gave up for searching outside - will try to help myself with the help of those videos of yours.

Traumas do not sleep, even with death, but rather, continue to look for fertile ground of resolution in the children of the following generations.
    That's so depressing!
One of my estranged sons has five children, maybe six. These unfortunate children will suffer the traumas of my past, as well as their father's.
No one is to blame, they simply lacked the insights to know what they're doing.

Thanks for that and kudos for that psychiatrist. Such reparenting from a single therapist/psychiatrist has been rare, in my experience. Personally, I was so filled with toxic shame that only the revelations of similar feelings and experiences in my 12-step groups could achieve my recovery into total honesty, although only a handful of my fellows seem to get to this same level of honesty and freedom from shame in all its manifestations. BTW, I am quite familiar with fibro and its recovery. In my experience as a physician and psychiatrist, fibro is an autoimmune condition and indicative of adrenal fatigue/failure and recovery is the result of stress management and adrenal gland recovery. It's as if our society is a human and our collective nervous system is in a constant state of high alert. We can't experience love or community because we tell ourselves we can't- because that's how we were raised from birth. The myths in this society are toxic, toxic people raise toxic people. Our entire society needs to teach our collective and individual unconcious brain that we are actually safe, as Dr. Sarno postulated. Then we can abandon fear and welcome safety and trust and stop the cycle of trauma- thereby mitigating the brain's unconcious overreaction to suppressed emotional pain that manifests as physical pain.

Thank you for expressing your point of view; it is important to foster these discussions in order to create positive change.💕🙏✨💖

I live in a small Ohio city where no dedicated trauma therapists practice, so the $0-1-2 12-step groups were all I had available. Sadly, not all 12-step groups are this welcoming to trauma survivors, so pick wisely. Thanks for your kind offer, but AA is self supporting and does not accept outside contributions. Stress R Us

It's not my fault...try to tell my sons that. They're filled with blame and vitriol...😢and it is my guess they'll never choose to know better...not in my lifetime, anyway.
My adoptee son came into my life when he was 27. It turns out he was interested in two things: money and retribution. He made me sick...more trauma.🙁

Hard to take this seriously with the fancy editing/production and the lady at 1:03 using "decolonizing" in reference to methods of psychotherapy.

Glad someone here is calling that out. She's casually introducing divisive, ideological language where it has no place being, but of course, it's deliberate.

Borderline personality disorder might better be called "Extreme rejection sensitivity", as an individual who experienced a terrifying loss of a nurturing, loving, protective parent (usually mother) NEVER wants to re-experience the excruciating soul rending pain of such an early loss again. Thus, the slightest suggestion of a potential abandonment in a relationship, however trivial to the uninformed observer, may lead to an explosion of rage and a compensatory rapid rejection of the other person to protect against the far worse pain of a feared imminent abandonment. This is a real condition and effects millions. Any former public office holders come to mind? Gabor, as much as I respect him and his valuable work/writing, is not a trained mental health professional, rather a well-meaning insightful and intuitive general practitioner. His rejection of many elements of a thorough mental health education and work experience is arrogant on his part. A bit more humility would be helpful here. Many thanks to YICM for these well produced interviews! Stress R Us

I've gone to 4 mental health "experts" in my life didn't feel they dug any deeper than their pages. Gabor is a master at healing, he takes everything he's learned and synthesizes it all making it a part of his body and soul, like my medicine man.

Beautifully said and felt. I have never met another psychiatrist who "dug" as deep as myself with my 25K pts. over 42 yrs. Gabor is a genius and sympatico. I am, also, of Hungarian descent. However, he lacks humility and has a domineering style that I do not. I am a childhood abuse survivor and related closely with my patients, most of whom had similar stories. I loved that work and now find a similar atmosphere in my 12-step mtgs, which Gabor never addresses. My recovery has been through the "reparenting" I've received on a mostly unconscious level in many hundreds of such meetings, again with fellow suffering souls. Best wishes!@@MariaBaca-r8r

Absolutely, it seems like you've made a deep and significant connection with Gabor's approach to healing. It's truly motivating when you see that his passion and knowledge integration resonates so deeply with you. It's important to find a practitioner who truly understands and empathizes with your journey, and Gabor appears to have done just that for you. Remember that everyone's healing journey is unique, and finding the appropriate fit might be the difference between success and failure. Continue to embrace the wisdom that speaks to your spirit and prioritize your mental health. Thank you for sharing your experience and insights!

Thanks for your reply and video. However, as much as I respect and appreciate Gabor's work and writing, I do not lionize him as you seem to. He is just one of many trauma therapists and mental health experts in this area of practice and research. Broaden your scope a bit and you'll discover many more of us out here.@@yourinnerchildmatters

Female`s Question is somewhat silly...... it is the private question as a therapist, she does not need to ask Gabor publicly.

Oof not a fan of how he made that first woman’s voice smaller and then didn’t listen to her and interrupted her before she finished her sentence. But I appreciate his sharing nonetheless.

I love Gabor for his approach to addiction but if I had the choice of him and Jordan Peterson, I'd go JP. I just prefer JP's personality.

"Glib" and "cosmetic" don't really go together..
As I said I prefer JP's style (he's more charismatic & about as articulate as people get) but Gabor is better with trauma & addiction.
