Just wanted to say thank you very much for all the work you put into this review! It looks like the perfect battery for me to use in my campervan to upgrade the old lead acid leisure battery. Thanks for showing how the heater works, it was very interesting and a big help. So great to finally find a decent review of any lithium leisure battery from someone in the UK! 👍
Thanks for a comprehensive review. After a lot of failed EcoWorthy units we have just bought our first Fogstar battery and whilst it is still early days it seems to be working well.

We have had x2 120Ah KS Energy batteries for the last 15 months, no issues. But these batteries seem extremely good value for the money. Great video, thanks 👍👍 (subbed too 😎)
As of 3rd Nov 2022, there is a waiting list until January 2023 before dispatch. Shows they must be good. DC Guy should be on a commission for these! They also sell cases and BMS units as well as cells, so ideal for the DIY enthusiast too.
Yes, a DIY battery Kit would be a hit! As for commission, that would be nice of course to help keep the channel and site going but then it would bring my unbiased views into question with my small but loyal followers. Id settle for a coffee lol

Now that's what i call an in depth review 😎 Looks to be a right nice battery that does, got it all, even a good strategy for the warming, someone really sat down and thought about that build 👍 and you went and ripped it appart 🤣 Darn sowf we'd call that " Propper fucked now " not sure what you northern chaps would call it 😁 Really enjoyed that vid chap 👍
The 60c sensor is for the heat mat that why it was on top of the battery. It's there for if there is ever a fault with the heat mat not cutting from the bms that will cut it off if the temp get to 60c
Nice demo of the heater, thank you. Thinking about how much power it puts in - your PSU switched to CV mode because the heater resistance seems to be 3.87Ω in total. That seems to mean that the heater is intended to draw 50W at 14V, since that would be the normal chargee voltage.
It would be better if there was full insulation between the cells rather than just at the top or bottom. Over time the cells will swell and the cells will touch in the middle. The only thing insulating the cells at that point is just the blue plastic wrap. Other than that is it defiantly a good quality battery.
I wonder if the short circuit protection works. Also, shouldn't there be low-temp charge/discharge and high-temp charge/discharge sensors between the two middle cells, as these are the ones to take the longest to heat and cool back to proper charge/discharge temps? Nearly a perfect 'cheap' LiFePO4 battery. NEARLY the BEST ever.
Most batteries use passive balancing, active balancing is making use of capacitors which are prone to failure. They are OK if you have access to them but the end results are much the same, just passive is a bit slower but gets the job done.
@@DCGUY many thanks. Just one more thing, would the DC2DC charger element of a combined mppt/b2b be ok used (no solar input) for lithiums or does it still adopt the lead charging profile? (Ring RSCDC30)
The Eco-worthy cells have been good, however someone said that they are using different cells nowadays but I can't confirm that. The fogstar are still the best 👌
I honestly don't know the answer as I have not personally bothered with renogy batteries as there are so many videos on them. Only renogy product I've purchased was a 200w solar panel, that is plodding away fine. Biggest issue with renogy is their poor after sales service from what I've read in online forums. Some call them run away not renogy. Probably an unfair assessment as all companies have issues from time to time. Sorry I've not been able to offer a personal opinion.
Hi, Just for clarity, if the battery was frozen and you put it on charge, would it just turn the heat pads on only until it reached temp? or try and and charge battery and destroy it? Thanks David
Great question 🤔 the bms low temp protection won't allow a charge current to pass into the battery. The heating pads will kick in when you try and charge and only let current pass when it gets to temperature. On a side note though best not to let the battery get below zero. It would take a long time to thaw even with the pads activated.

Can this battery be used in parallel with a Renogy 12V 100Ah?
Yes, I have mine in parallel with other brands and it's fine. Always best to charge individually before connecting together.
