So stoked to hear you rave about Nicks,Dave. 😉👍 Let's all save our $$$, buy American made goods, built to last, support quality workmanship and BE RADICAL! 💪🇺🇸🥾
@Pike Fish well Americans on average are pretty horrible production workers. BUT being American, we think out strategy better than most countries. So merging America's lack for hard workers with a bulletproof system for building boots allows for a better product. The individual is taken out of the equation so that the process can shine. That's why when you watch Jim green boots being made, they are made with cheap leathers and the workers are extremely sloppy at assembly. So the boots have glue all over them. The stitching is inconsistent. And they raised the price 30% just to sell them to Americans. Since we're stupid enough to spend it. Some American companies make some boots in Mexico too. The same boot, just cheaper because it's made in Mexico. Check out the Carolina amp vs the amp mx. (MX for Mexico). It's $70 cheaper and literally the same exact boot.
I bought my daughter a pair of Nick's to work around cattle and to train steers. She loved the boots mostly because of how good they looked when she showed calves at cattle shows/4-H. I realize their construction quality but also appreciate how good they look. GREAT boots!
Hey Dave, I bought a pair of the 10” nicks builder pros after watching your review and several others. I have had them for 4 months now and they feel great. The 1964 brown leather was a breeze to break in. I too ordered 13EE and they are roomy. Have a set of their leather insoles inbound as I type this. Thank you for a honest and real review.
That's a life changer when you finally find a pair of boots that don't kill your feet. I'm glad you explained what you meant by having a problem with "the fit." Thanks for the video Dave!
The well made, hence "expensive," quality stuff, truly does end up being CHEAPER, because they last longer and go the distance when it comes to genuinely caring for yourself.
The older I get, I realize I can't skimp on good shoes. A bad fit will affect not only your feet but your hips and back. We can tend to be cheap when purchasing shoes, but for me, my health can't afford it. Thank you for such a wonderful overview of these boots.
Hi, this was a good video especially in that you finally got a boot that fits. Any ex soldier who had to wear MOD issue boots would agree with you. I still remember having to “Break in” my first and all subsequent boots by leaving them in a bucket of water overnight and then putting on two pairs of socks and going for a five mile run! I even wore out a new pair of boots in six weeks in the mountains of Greece. On discharge I wore civilian work boots but it was never as comfortable as a hand made boots that we use to have made by a cobbler who use to come into our barracks, measure you up, make a wooden last and then deliver a pair of boots a fortnight later. Your working life depends on a good boot. Stick with it mate, you are doing a good job. Cheers mate, Harera from NZ
I have a similar boot from Nick's, composite toe, honey vibrant, 10 inch. Best boots I have ever purchased. I work in the railway and I was destroying boots like Danner and other models. These are the only boots that have held up, super comfortable and built to go to war!
I bought Franks last year and recieved them this January. Almost identical to your first pair of Nicks. They fit great. Slightly large to compensate for heavy socks for winter work (I'm an Electrician). When you touched on a 6 month break-in I felt the exact way, the leather footbed has been a beast to break in. Now they feel much better. I alternate between them and Thorogood moc toes. As you stated, once you work in construction, you just become drawn to the moc toe style with the wedge soles. Thank you for your video.
As someone who has the same issues with ordinary run of the mill footware, I know exactly where you are coming from on this one Dave. After watching this straight up honest review after a year, I think it is time I treated my feet with some respect and get them some Nicks. Many thanks. David in the U.K.
Wore Nicks when I worked Wildland fires! Great boots, well worth the money and I have used em all! Having said that I also like Thorough good boots! Made in Washington state! They have a lot of Moc toe boots! Great video Dave!
I enjoy this channel everytime I watch I get vibes from Washington Lincoln eras it’s like going on a field trip to the Apple orchard and getting childhood nostalgia
I’m really considering getting a pair of Nicks, there obviously going to cost more in Canada coming from the states. But the price isn’t an issue for me, I spend 12 hours a day in my work boots, it’s no fun coming home after a long day and having your feet hurt from a bad fitting boot.
I love your channel Sir! Also your wife's. You both quickly became my favorite channels in just a few months after discovering them. Keep being radical and keep up the great work! 👍
Nice to hear that they are holding up, I've been using Redwings for about 10 years now and I'm only on my third pair. Everyone tells me I'm crazy for using them and I've been waiting for you to review nicks because I would like to try something new that should last me a lot longer then these have lasted. My wife has been on me about my boots because the soles are starting to come off. Thanks for the year review and I appreciate everything you share on this Chanel
Get some "weld Wood" contact cement in the glue section at any hardware store. coat both sides........let sit for 15-20 minutes and then stick them back together. It's basically what they use to MAKE boots and it will fix your separating soles
For real quality you have to pay accordingly. We're so used to easy gained cheap stuff that we don't realize that actual quality stuff IS expensive, like old times!
Buy once💸, cry once😢... It’s better to bite the bullet and pay more for quality, then going cheap and ending up having to spend about the same/more in the long run on replacing cheaper gear when it fails due to poor materials and the lack of the craftsman’s mindset when mass-producing cheap gear...
I love ALL your videos.. no matter what you are talking about, you have my FULL attemtion.!! A good pair of boots is a must... 😊 MUCH love and respect brother from Southeast Arizona.. 🌹 God bless..
I've been Kickin Redwing Loggers For Years.(Retired Tree trimmer). I've grown so used to a Heel Boot I can't ware nothing Else. These seem good Boots..
I wore cheap Walmart/Kmart boots for many years usually 2 pairs per year. A friend of mine talked me into buying a pair of RedWing boots and I wish I had bought them years ago! They work well for me and I have had them about 8 years now and have had them resoled twice in that time and still love them. Keep a good pair of boots oiled - greased well and they will last forever. (I use bear grease on them)
Dave, Thanks for the follow up. That's all I need to know I will be calling them and buying a set of boots. I will let them know that your reviews sold me.
Finding a quality pair of boots that fit well, feel comfortable, and last is hard to do. And worth a premium price. I have had boots that lasted 25 plus years. I have had boots that barely made it 6 months. So I don't mind paying a premium price for a good pair. I have found lately that most out of the box boots have quality issues. Either lousy soles that wear very quickly, and or separate from the uppers. Or uppers that have seams come apart and wear out prematurely. I am willing to give Nick's a try. They look like a beautiful boot!
My best friend's family had shoe shops as I was growing up. I grew up tinkering in the shop doing doing toe caps out of scrap leather and modifying boots to fit the customer with an old singer stitcher and a athleter ticker I have done leather craft and hand tooling most of my life and I am really happy to see someone promote a well made boot. As a young man I made moccasins and the other leather crafts and learn the craft of molding the right leather for the right fit. Well done.
I was just thinking I wonder how that boot is holding up and then this video appeared in my news feed. I can't believe it's been a year already! thank you for the review and your honesty.
Great review Dave. Been watching you for a long time. I’m in LE and I’ve been wearing Danner Acadia 400g insulated for about 10 years. Walking footposts in NYC then out in the suburbs. Cold winters standing outside. I love those boots. I’ve been looking into Nicks for about a year since I saw your initial nicks video. I need an outdoor, woodwork or even casual type boot and I think I’m going to give Nicks a try. All seasons but summer I wear boots and I need something that’ll last years. Thanks again for the review and just being a decent dude.
I watched and read as much stuff as possible about boots and kept seeing Nick's come up as the best period. I've had my 10' builder pros for almost a year, and they've absolutely been worth every penny of $530. I wear them every day and love the support and grip. I also pair them with Darn Tough full cushion tactical socks and Wig Wam coolmax liners. My feet never hurt and never smell with this combination of boots and socks.
Bought my first and only pair of Whites Smoke Jumpers in 1970. Pd $70.00 for them. Wore for 4 months in northern Idaho working on Clearwater Nat. forest. From 75-80 wore in flatland in NE Texas. Just to heavy where you don’t require great ankle . Still have them today and in great shape. Wear once a yr or so. You want moc toe boot….look at Russell boots ….been wearing them for decades. Great company in Berlin, WI I believe. Nicks and Whites look alike and a both top shelf boots.
So glad to hear you are finally getting to enjoy HAPPY FEET! :D Like the foundation of a structure, proper footwear affects the entire body.. ankles to neck and everything in between! Especially critical for those with physically demanding jobs, chores and recreation! Good health and good times to you! :D
I bought a pair of Nicks boots, I wear them daily. My only problem is I have almost completely walked through the sole of the boot, but I can also walk 2 miles home and no sore feet. My boots just squeak when I walk but other than that they are great.
Your 150% right Dave having a pair of boots/shoes you can wear that don't hurt at all is priceless!! I've had a lot of spine surgery this last 4 years and oddly enough it's made me flat footed and my feet have grown a half size 😬..impossible to get shoes or boots that I like to fit properly.
Great review. Cant see myself springing the money for those. I currently have a pair of Danner Pronghorn Gortex lined boots. I dont wear them often but they are great for me. I went through numerous brands of workboots building scaffold. I kicked stuff alot for minor adjustments. Tore up toe caps pretty quick. One trick I learned in the Army to make boots fit. Put them on and soak them in water. Then walk and wear them until they dry out. The leather will conform to your feet. About 8 hours or so on a warm day. Thoroughly dry them inside and out and then apply whatever protectorants you use. I use Minks Foot Oil.
I really want a pair of Nick's. The only thing holding me back is the break in. I need it to get moving fairly quick. I fix broke light poles in the mountains of NC. I'll call them and see what they can come up with. Thanks for the honesty
Great review Dave! We have similar foot problems and history. I wear a 14 EE and have the same foot shape. I grew up with a dad that was a contractor and have done my share of concrete as well. I hated it and went into the environmental field lol. I bought a pair of Jim Green African Rangers this year. they were under $200.00 and for every 10 pairs sold they donate a pair two the African bush rangers. They have a sole similar to a Christie sole and are as comfortable as slippers. they have become my everyday boot/shoe. they are stitch down construction and resole able. I cant say enough about them, I tell all my friends in construction and environmental work about them. thanks for all the great videos you post looking forward to your next posting!!!
I actually worked with my friend in many different shops in Oregon and we crafted everything from 2nd hand Danner Boots to capped lumberman cork boots to custom tack and holster gear. I still have and probably will always have tooling and leather just in case I need it..
When I watch survival/tactical/doomsday experts talk about absolute necessities and no one mentions footwear I really stop and pause to question if the advice given is valid. For me it begins and ends with the footwear because if there is a problem there you are going to be miserable no matter how well equipped you are otherwise. Bigfoot is uncatchable for a reason, great footwear.
Good stuff there, sir. I have a new pair of Red Wings in the closet that I purchased on a close out, but after your review, I may sell them and invest in a pair of Nicks. Thanks again, really like both of your channels.
Glad their working for you, Dave. I finally broke down and bought a pair of Whites this year. Only bought them because they were offering a big discount around Thanksgiving. Still, you definitely get sticker shock when you see the price.
Sticker shock only lasts until you start doing the math. I spend close to $200/year on boots & inserts. Each year. In 3 years I'll have the same amount of money in throw away boots as I do in these, and these will last me for many more years to come. Even taking into account resoles every other year to every 3 years, these will end up saving me money long term I've found that as I get older I'm willing to pay up front for things that will last me longer. The days of buying cheap and replacing every year are in my past.
I love listening to your video's; for some reason, you remind me of the narrator for Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom show. My granddaughter and I watched your wife's cabin build last night! Great team the two of you make. Keep up the good work!
hey Dave... my mom always took us to a shoe store growing up..she said you can skimp on your clothes but always pay the extra money for your shoes.. thank you for sharing this important reminder of how a good, well build boot can make all the difference!
My parents did the same to us, they took us also to the dentist every year. All the other things were less important ( clothes, fancy food, toys........)
Hi Dave! Thanks for another educational video! I have the same issue with my feet and will definitely be reaching out to Nick's! It's too bad that we, in this age of information, don't have a list of the crooked ceo's, presidents, vice presidents and engineers, who put out these bad products. When their companies go belly up, they take their ill gotten gains and purchase strait up businesses, like Nick's, and cut corners, riding on the good name, until the quality is down to their level. I am going to hurry up and get my pairs before that happens. Thanks again buddy and God bless!
I got my Nicks resoled 7 times. Last time I was told I needed to get them rebuilt. As a delivery driver, I could not find any boot or shoes that would last 6 months. The breakin was rough but after that nothing else was comfortable. I wore those boots for 9 years. Now I need to save up some cash and get them rebuilt. I went back to buying the 135 dollar boots and suffering until the fall apart at about 6 months. You will not regret buying a pair of Nicks boots.
Been waiting for the review from you on those boots. Looked at their website after u got them. And I don’t mind spending good money for good footwear. I don’t skimp on footwear as I have wide feet with a high arch so get where you’re coming from on fitting good. They are pricey though ! Maybe I’ll give ‘em a go this fall. Take care Dave
I looked at nicks but had to go with Frank's. They are both top notch. I'm also more than happy with a real custom set of boots. The price is high at first but over the long run of not buying boots every 9 months they pay for themselves. Also the comfort is like nothing you have ever worn after they are broke in. Great review
Excellent review, Thank you, bought first pair of Nick's - Also Builder Pro - ended up with an 11 FFFF - I know the wide feet struggle. Getting better day by day.
I have many pairs of Nicks, Wescos, Whites, etc. People who are new to this type of boot should understand how much work is involved in breaking them in. Compared with what you are used to wearing, these boots are TANKS. It is a long and often painful process.
I bought my first American made boots at the end of this past winter. I love them. It's a different brand from Nick's but have to say the break in period is a killer. But the boots feel better and better as time goes on.
I’ve had mine about 6 months and they are just about broke in. They are very well made. I guess I will know in about five years whether they are worth the $650?
They're worth it. One day you're randomly going to run into a problem and those boots will save your feet/lower leg area. I work freight and was pulling a pallet and slipped on something but instead of that 2300+ pound pallet rolling over my ankle and breaking it, my boot stopped the pallet jack in it's place and that right there was what made me happy to own a pair of nicks.
Eeek I hope they stand the test of time for that price, but if you think how may 100$ you spend over a 5 year period on cheap boots then compare to the expensive ones I'm betting you would break even.
Years ago I decided to start spending my money on things that will last. I've never regretted it since. Car, mattress, cookware, and now shoes. All are easily worth the money many times over to get something better up front.
Love my Nick's Urban Loggers... got them last year (2021) at the beginning of Winter here in OK... wore them on/off again for ~ 4 months before the weather started to warm up. They're still not quite broke in and they still look new. Should last me the rest of my life given how easy I am on my footwear. Definitely worth the $$
I always loved Whites boots and use their packs for hunting, but I need to try Nicks. These are a great looking boot. I'm fortunate to have both Nicks and Whites here in my home town.
Thanks for an update. I am surprised no one at Red Wings showed how they can ajust their "stracher" for inside of the boots. Funny how my feet is opposite - has bigw the normal bulge on inside, just behind big toes. I always had to buy wide shoes and size bigger. And hated how my feet used to slide back in forth inside of the boot. But last paired I bought in Red Wings were right size but I had to leave it in the store for the few days, and staff used little add-ons where needed to strach it more in some sports
You my friend have just gained a subscriber! Great video man, I just got my Urban Loggers about a month ago. I'm still breaking em in and it's a tad rough, but I know the payouts coming! ✌🏻✌🏻
Nice boots. Luckily Red-wing boots do fit me perfectly!I have a pair of the 230's and a pair of Irish setters. All excellent fits from the moment I first put them on. I would certainly try the Nick's when it comes time to invest in some new footwear. And I do say "invest" in good footwear, as well as sheets, pillows, mattress and clothes. All things that are used so much, so frequently that quality makes a difference. If you buy quality boots you'll still be wearing them years later while those that pinched pennies will have worn out several pairs spending more in the long run.
A good and straight forward video. Thank you for the submission and the honesty about the fact that these boots are expensive. I can't help but notice that you never give a price. Value for money is imperative in any decision and it's a little disappointing that you strategically avoided addressing an actual dollar amount. Looking into it myself, a pair of these boots are over half a grand. That seems very excessive. You can buy two pair of "another popular brand" if your feet are different sizes and still spend way less for excellent footwear.
I didn't avoid the price on purpose. The moc toe boots were pretty $550 + shipping If I remember correctly. They have cheaper boots and more expensive boots.
ALL the Nick's boots are expensive. Way too much money for me ( years ago) but at 46 I just cant find boots that fit me right and I GLADLY pay the $550 now. Thats a hell of a lot of money for shoes, but I just cant find boots that fit well.......so to me it's no brainer now.
My last pair of White's Smoke Jumpers cost $325 over 20 years ago. They are over $400 now. Tripple stitched loggers cost a lot and if they don't, they are not woth having. A foot will always break into the boot not the other way around lol. Thanks for the tip. I have not heard of Nick's Boots.
Nice I ordered a pair 2 months ago after watching your first review. Looks like I have about 2 month more a waiting. Glad to see the wait will be worth it.
Holy cow!!! My big toes actually curve in a little and i always have to buy big shoes extra wide. Now i understand why. Really good information. I'm going to look into these boots
I mean my big toe curve in super uncomfortably because they hurt and i think they are supposed to be straight, lol. Anyway, thanx a bunch for the video!!!
When I order from Nick's I ask for extra room in the big toe area.....they pad the shoe form with scrap leather in that area so there is a "pocket" of extra room when the shoe is built on the form
Honestly I have no need for a pair of Mens boots. I just really enjoy your videos Dave (and Brooke’s too) !!! 😂. Sister In Christ K here in Vegas 🙋🏼♀️
I bought a pair of nicks...best boot I've ever owned. I still can't believe that standing on a stack of leather could be so comfortable. I'll be wearing Nick's till the day I die! Hell, I'll wear them in my coffin!
Thanks for the review, Dave ... I would love a set of Nick's! It's really sad how I've just grabbed my footwear off the cheapest shelf. I really appreciate your "strategic view" of life in general. Nick's will be getting a call from me asap :) By the way ... Your stitching on my Model 01's sheath still looks great! God Bless and stay safe, my friend
NIce but I can't wear a boot with a heel anymore. I've recently falling in love with a Carhart brand flat sole work boot. Very quick break in and light, but I can already tell I will have to buy a new pair every year.
Hay looking good hope family is doing good good to see you again love your guys videos up lift me love all what you guys are doing on your videos keep up the good job love you guys see you on the next one from steve c from state Oregon
I like honest reviews. I like honest people. Hell, I like you, Dave. :) It's been a while since I've heard about Snow Seal down here in Kansas. Good on you.
Love the ruffout look more then the moctoe. Your ruffout ones look very similar to my Viberg chamois ruffouts. Probably my favorite boot ever. Great review
I stumbled on a video about Nicks boots a year of so ago; I think it was Wrangler Star. I started researching and watching other videos to see what they were about. Ive always been a guy in serarch of good quality, sturdy , tough work boots. Lately most of my purchases had been in the western work boot style. Fitting my feet has never been a walk in the park; my left foot always giving me trouble around the big toe joint. What made it worse was that in most of the mass produced brands that I have had, a size 12 was slightly small (at least on my left foot) , and of course, most other brands don't offer half sizes once you're above a size 12, so I would have to by a 13, and a EE at that. So I got sold on the idea of a great quality, boot, all leather mid sole that would mold to my foot, from a boot made by hand in USA. Then the "what size to buy" question began. More videos, more research. But went back to Nicks, emailed them, and went with their advise. A half size down from my Brannock measurement. Brannock measurement was 11.5, E. So I went with a size 11, but stayed with EE. Ordered my Builder Pros with no custom anything; went with the "cutters choice" option, whick made it about a one month turn around. Ordered my boots in mid March . My boots showed up exactly 3 weeks later, much faster that what I imagined. I was anxious to try them on and a bit apprehensive . Tried them on and they felt like a reasonably good fit. My right foot felt fairly good right from the start. But don't think these are going to be "comfy" right out of the box. I could tell that I had some work to do. But once I wore them around the house a day or two to make sure they weren't unwearable, it was game on. I decided that these boots were going to be broken in and comfortable whether they wanted to or not! At first, they were pretty brutal to be honest. Felt like they were made out of solid oak. And my left foot was making me have doubts about the fit. But with each day, and trying different socks , they began to show some hope of getting them to where I wanted. It was a gradual thing but there was a moment where I was doing some chores around our small farm one evening where I realized, that, yes, my Nicks boots are broken in and feeling great on my feet. Now I wear them for 12 hours a day working outside with no problem, and beyond that they give me the support that leaves me feeling strong at the end of the day. I wasn't sure about the higher arch (although with western boots I found I liked the bigger heel) but I find it saves my feet from fatigue. As for toughness, man these are tough. Stomping around in the woods, cutting down trees, clearing brush, tearing out old fence including barded wire, building new fence, whatever you throw at these, I think they can handle it. I would buy these again no doubt. if you watch the videos where different brands of boots are cut in half (think it is Anvil Rose that does a lot of these), if you're like me you will feel kind of cheated for the money you have spent on lesser brands. These boots are a far better economic choice that the $200 boots that don't offer any support and don't last more that a year . One last thing on the size is that I would not say that Nicks run wide. I got the 55 last and glad I went with the EE... For length, glad I went with their advice on that. .
Great info on the boots. I've been looking for a good comfortable pair of boots. I'll check them out and see what I can find. Thanks Dave. 👍🌲🇨🇦 Cobble Hill BC

Most China made junk last about 3 months most. My Canadian ones last about 3 years so through shear economics, you're absolutely right.
“I’m too poor to wear cheap shoes” is a saying for a reason. A good pair will last forever. Glad you found some that work for you!
The older I get, I realize I can't skimp on good shoes. A bad fit will affect not only your feet but your hips and back. We can tend to be cheap when purchasing shoes, but for me, my health can't afford it. Thank you for such a wonderful overview of these boots.

Frank was the master builder at Nick's he left them a few years ago
Nick's quality and craftsmanship and customer service went downhill when he left

For real quality you have to pay accordingly. We're so used to easy gained cheap stuff that we don't realize that actual quality stuff IS expensive, like old times!
Well said
Buy once💸, cry once😢...
Thank you much!
I've been Kickin Redwing Loggers For Years.(Retired Tree trimmer). I've grown so used to a Heel Boot I can't ware nothing Else. These seem good
Boots..
(I use bear grease on them)
right on
Dave, Thanks for the follow up.
They are built like horse tack
Quality shoes n boots are the best investment. Love your content "Bushy." Hope Brooke and Da Wolf both are well. God Bless...
Thanks much
Hey I love that sweater under the flannel look. I need to get that for my husband.
It's toasty.
Well done.
Thats awesome! In my garage I have a set of shoe lasts I made.....I was to the point of trying to make my own footwear too
I was just thinking I wonder how that boot is holding up and then this video appeared in my news feed. I can't believe it's been a year already! thank you for the review and your honesty.
Thanks
Great review Dave. Been watching you for a long time. I’m in LE and I’ve been wearing Danner Acadia 400g insulated for about 10 years. Walking footposts in NYC then out in the suburbs. Cold winters standing outside. I love those boots. I’ve been looking into Nicks for about a year since I saw your initial nicks video. I need an outdoor, woodwork or even casual type boot and I think I’m going to give Nicks a try. All seasons but summer I wear boots and I need something that’ll last years. Thanks again for the review and just being a decent dude.
I really like the videos you guys put out and always look forward to the next. Stay well and enjoy life! Looking forward to the next video!
Right on!
Thanks
Now that Brooke is building her own cabins too, I was just wondering how she likes the pair you gave her for Mother's Day😉
I did not get her a pair for mothers day...
@@Bushradical Totally understandable unless you made the mistake of getting her a new vacuum cleaner😳
@@Bushradical You gave your good lady a pair of leather gloves with GOGH on the knuckles 😊..soo lovely.
I bought a pair of Nicks boots, I wear them daily. My only problem is I have almost completely walked through the sole of the boot, but I can also walk 2 miles home and no sore feet.
My boots just squeak when I walk but other than that they are great.
Had a set of Nick's for years. I agree, great boots.
right on
Your 150% right Dave having a pair of boots/shoes you can wear that don't hurt at all is priceless!! I've had a lot of spine surgery this last 4 years and oddly enough it's made me flat footed and my feet have grown a half size 😬..impossible to get shoes or boots that I like to fit properly.
I can't find anybody that makes a narrow bot anymore, I have back problems as well
I think Nick's makes B, C width as well as all the wides
Sorry to hear.
@@skidooer583 Obenaufs is made in orofino Idaho too
I really want a pair of Nick's. The only thing holding me back is the break in. I need it to get moving fairly quick. I fix broke light poles in the mountains of NC. I'll call them and see what they can come up with. Thanks for the honesty
Start the break in outside of work and when you can wear them for an entire day, take them to work.
Thanks.....I'll check them out
I actually worked with my friend in many different shops in Oregon and we crafted everything from 2nd hand Danner Boots to capped lumberman cork boots to custom tack and holster gear. I still have and probably will always have tooling and leather just in case I need it..
Dave, I had some medical troubles last year, but nothing like you lived through. Keep on keepin' on.
Thanks...I hope all is good now
I was here for the original review, you kept ur word, glad u didn't sell out an just make give a review based on anything other than real world use.
Thanks
When I watch survival/tactical/doomsday experts talk about absolute necessities and no one mentions footwear I really stop and pause to question if the advice given is valid. For me it begins and ends with the footwear because if there is a problem there you are going to be miserable no matter how well equipped you are otherwise. Bigfoot is uncatchable for a reason, great footwear.
Well said
People really should spend more money on their Footwear and their mattress because it's the two places you're going to be most in life
ask yourself if it is even worth waiting 7 MONTHS for a pair of Nicks. You can count on a doomsday arriving sooner.
A suitable boot is so important.
true
Good stuff there, sir. I have a new pair of Red Wings in the closet that I purchased on a close out, but after your review, I may sell them and invest in a pair of Nicks. Thanks again, really like both of your channels.
There is nothing wrong with red wings if they fit your feet well
Break in those Wings. You'll love them too!
Great information - I love your narration and channel.
So true on the explanation of cutting off the big toe. On point description ⭐️
right!?
@@Bushradical keep up the great work
These boots look really nice. Great review👍
Thanks!
This is a great review thanks Dave and so nice to see you today
Thanks
Glad their working for you, Dave. I finally broke down and bought a pair of Whites this year. Only bought them because they were offering a big discount around Thanksgiving. Still, you definitely get sticker shock when you see the price.
I've heard Whites are great boots too
Sticker shock only lasts until you start doing the math. I spend close to $200/year on boots & inserts. Each year. In 3 years I'll have the same amount of money in throw away boots as I do in these, and these will last me for many more years to come. Even taking into account resoles every other year to every 3 years, these will end up saving me money long term
I've found that as I get older I'm willing to pay up front for things that will last me longer.
I loved that show as a kid.....Marlin Perkins
hey Dave...
my mom always took us to a shoe store growing up..she said you can skimp on your clothes but always pay the extra money for your shoes..
thank you for sharing this important reminder of how a good, well build boot can make all the difference!
My parents did the same to us, they took us also to the dentist every year. All the other things were less important ( clothes, fancy food, toys........)
right
It's so cool and exciting that you are almost at 1 million subscribers, so happy for you!!! Great video going to share with my nephew.
Thanks! Maybe I'll hit the million mark this year ....
@@Bushradical I hope so, would be a pretty good way to wrap up the year.
Well said
Been waiting for the review from you on those boots. Looked at their website after u got them. And I don’t mind spending good money for good footwear. I don’t skimp on footwear as I have wide feet with a high arch so get where you’re coming from on fitting good. They are pricey though ! Maybe I’ll give ‘em a go this fall. Take care Dave
Thanks you too
I looked at nicks but had to go with Frank's. They are both top notch. I'm also more than happy with a real custom set of boots. The price is high at first but over the long run of not buying boots every 9 months they pay for themselves. Also the comfort is like nothing you have ever worn after they are broke in. Great review
Thanks
I bought a pair and love them almost a year of wear and still look new and I build bridges for a living
Thats a testament, from a bridge guy!
@@Bushradical I got the same ones you got only 10 inch. I don’t think I will ever were another boot they fit so well
Excellent review, Thank you, bought first pair of Nick's - Also Builder Pro - ended up with an 11 FFFF - I know the wide feet struggle. Getting better day by day.
I have many pairs of Nicks, Wescos, Whites, etc. People who are new to this type of boot should understand how much work is involved in breaking them in. Compared with what you are used to wearing, these boots are TANKS. It is a long and often painful process.
I'm glad you found some good quality boots that fit. I have wide feet and finding shoes and boots that are made for my feet is difficult.
I bought my first American made boots at the end of this past winter. I love them. It's a different brand from Nick's but have to say the break in period is a killer. But the boots feel better and better as time goes on.
right on
I’ve had mine about 6 months and they are just about broke in.
$650 = 6 tanks of gas, give or take. It's all relative.
@@saginawdan Good point!
Good to hear the boots are holding up.
like a champ
Thanks for an update. I am surprised no one at Red Wings showed how they can ajust their "stracher" for inside of the boots. Funny how my feet is opposite - has bigw the normal bulge on inside, just behind big toes. I always had to buy wide shoes and size bigger. And hated how my feet used to slide back in forth inside of the boot. But last paired I bought in Red Wings were right size but I had to leave it in the store for the few days, and staff used little add-ons where needed to strach it more in some sports
right on
You my friend have just gained a subscriber!
If you buy quality boots you'll still be wearing them years later while those that pinched pennies will have worn out several pairs spending more in the long run.
well said
A good and straight forward video.
I bought a pair of K**n boots last year. They cost me £
My last pair of White's Smoke Jumpers cost $325 over 20 years ago. They are over $400 now. Tripple stitched loggers cost a lot and if they don't, they are not woth having. A foot will always break into the boot not the other way around lol. Thanks for the tip. I have not heard of Nick's Boots.
Good video. I like a honest review. Some utube channels will say any thing to make a buck but yours i trust.
I appreciate that!
Hey Dave I just wanted to wish you a happy Father's day for tomorrow man so have a blessed one
Nice I ordered a pair 2 months ago after watching your first review. Looks like I have about 2 month more a waiting. Glad to see the wait will be worth it.
good luck
Great to find a company that works with you! Good review!
Thanks
Dave good review on the shoes, now back to cabin videos 😂
Honestly I have no need for a pair of Mens boots. I just really enjoy your videos Dave (and Brooke’s too) !!! 😂. Sister In Christ K here in Vegas 🙋🏼♀️
Thanks
I have the same issue. Except my foot are bigger. I have o order a 4 e in a 15 when a 14 wide should work. Sweet boots. Thanks for the info.
Awesome! Good and jealous 😁 and so glad they fixed your foot dilemma!
Aloha
Good boots are like gold. Glad you found some nice ones.

Thanks !
My foot is like yours!! Glad you found a boot that works 🥾👍🏻👏🏻
Me too!
NIce but I can't wear a boot with a heel anymore. I've recently falling in love with a Carhart brand flat sole work boot. Very quick break in and light, but I can already tell I will have to buy a new pair every year.
Sorry to hear that
Nicks does make a few pair with a wedge soul on them. Might be something to look into.

Great to hear you love them and they’re worth the money. Do you think they would be able to do custom boots to the UK?
I think so
Love the ruffout look more then the moctoe. Your ruffout ones look very similar to my Viberg chamois ruffouts. Probably my favorite boot ever. Great review
Thanks
For length, glad I went with their advice on that. .
That's a lot to say 🤣
Great review, l know a few people that will love them
