    My father has watched every Godzilla movie since the 50s. Huge fan. His Christmas gift was Minus One tickets. After the atomic breath scene, he looked at me and said "holy shit!". Old man looked like he was living like a kid again.

    Step 1. Lower Godzilla deep in water _quickly_ so that the pressure crushes him before he has a chance to adapt to it.
    Step 2. Raise him out of the water _quickly_ so that the LACK of pressure tears him apart.
    There are deep water fishes that explode out when pulled out, because their body is adapted to only be at that high pressure; being out of water is like the vacuum of space to them.
    Godzilla is adaptable; he can go deep or shallow; but like when you release fish into a pond, he needs time to adjust to the pressure of his surroundings.
    When he comes out all fucked up with grey patches, that's his body that _just_ got over suddenly being deep-pressure now being ripped apart by the sudden LACK of pressure.
    But this only weakens him.
    What ultimately kills him is his own personality; he's too petty.
    He could've just fucked off and been able to recoup at a medium depth somewhere; but instead he powers up his already crushed-then-torn-apart body with the atomic breathe, about ready to blow his own damn self up if he pushes it too far; then the plane knocks him out and interrupts his blast, and all that atomic energy not going somewhere just sits in the body that already could barely handle it, and he overcooks himself.

    • @k9px
      @k9px 2 місяці тому

      Also, if you sink too deep you can't go up because of the pressure. But the depth used in the movie was nowhere near enough for that... they should of went with 5km or more, at least Titanic depths.

      @@TeenTyrantyou are woefully misinformed, sir. Japan did not submit Godzilla Minus One to the academy for best foreign film consideration. They didn't campaign for it at all. As one of the biggest Godzilla fans since I was a small child, I can say this was the greatest film in the franchise since 1954. The heart of this film is the human experience. Just like the original film, the monster itself is an allegory for the terrors of the new atomic age, and the inevitability of nature’s wrath. I met Haruo Nakajima, the man who was in the Godzilla suit for the first 12 films, and I’m convinced that even though this the first Toho movie that did not use a suit actor, Nakajima would have been amazed and proud.

    I'm a citizen of Hiroshima Prefecture. In this movie, there are 30,000 victims of Godzilla's Atomic Breath, but I will explain the actual atomic bombing. The temperature at 8:15 a.m. on August 15, 1945 was less than 30 degrees Celsius, but it instantly rose to 3000 degrees due to the atomic bombing of the B29 bomber. The damage situation at that time has been revealed by a follow-up survey that can be said to be the continuing obsession of Hiroshima City. First of all, people within a radius of 1 km from the hypocenter instantly boiled blood in their bodies due to high temperatures, and blood vessels ruptured and died instantly. And people within 1 kilometer outside it were caught in a building that collapsed by the blast and became immobile and burned to death due to the fire. In addition, in the outer 1 kilometer range, people suffered for three days and three nights because they were exposed to the high-concentration radioactive rain that fell immediately after the atomic bomb. At this moment, about 90,000 citizens lost their lives. In addition, American prisoners of war who were imprisoned in Hiroshima City also followed the same fate.

  • @davidci
    @davidci 5 місяців тому +9

    The reason why sinking (and also unsinking) Godzilla is their plan is because of how pressure works underwater. Godzilla, given that he mostly dwells on the surface, means that he's not as compatible with extreme depths where there's lots of pressure. But if that fails, the opposite can also have an effect, going from deep pressure to lower pressure quickly causes harmful reactions in the body.
    Decompression sickness, aka The Bends, is an example of this; gases in your blood don't have enough time leaving your body from the extreme pressure change, forming bubbles in your blood. That's why divers who just swam through lower depths has to stay underwater at a certain ocean level first before rising back up to the surface

    Something about Japanese films just really has so much emotion and passion behind every word the actors speak. This is easily one of the most serious and well-made monster movies ever.

    I'm so happy this movie finally dropped on Netflix so I could circle back and watch this video as I typically won't watch reactions unless I've seen the film, first. What an amazing movie. Wish I had seen it in the theaters. This and 'Shin Godzilla' are the only Godzilla films where I actually cared about the human story.

    What happened at the end was, to kill Godzilla, they strapped jets to the wires in the water. Once Godzilla was surrounded, they turned on the jets, forcing Godzilla down to the ocean floor. The pressure from the speed being forced down then being elevated up was supposed to kill him, but is severely damaged Godzilla's skin. When, Godzilla was about to fire his atomic breath, but the plane slammed into Godzilla's mouth, exploding his head. Since the atomic breath had nowhere to go, it just started coming out thru his skin, destroying him.

    I once rented a video called 'World War III'. The cover art on the box was a modern aircraft carrier, a couple of modern jets & a nuclear explosion. So you can imagine my surprise when I popped in the tape....and what I saw was an old black & white Japanese movie full of Godzilla & a bunch of toy plastic army tanks being pulled thru the streets by fishing lines.

      She is most likely infected by what godzilla left behind. In shin godzilla, there was these creatures that were supposed to usher in a new age by human extinction. I'm guessing this is what's gonna happen in the 2nd film. Whatever this virus is, its either gonna turn her into a pawn, or its going to kill her eventually. That's why she is alive, because what she is infected with needs her to be alive. Sadly there will be no happy ending for her.

    So very glad you got to see this, J. Absolutely fantastic reaction! I have been singing the praises of this film since the beginning to anyone who would listen, and I'm glad you're a convert. This is the Godzilla movie you can show to people who aren't Godzilla fans, because if you took out the monster scenes you would still have a great film with characters that you care about. And your comparison of Minus One to the Monsterverse films was dead-on: Monsterverse films are just popcorn wrestling movies, but Minus One is actual cinema. And it's great that Minus One was made with a budget less than 10% of a Monsterverse flick, and with a special effects team of only 35 people - and it won the Oscar for special effects!
    Now you need to see the original 1954 Godzilla film (the Japanese version) to see how it all started, and just how Godzilla started out as a true monster. Then see Minus One Minus Color; the black-and-white tone gives a straight-up horror vibe to the whole experience.

    Listen… if you would had told me then that a Kajiu movie would make people cry and be emotional, I would had never believed it. I agree with J in the sense that in most Godzilla films, we don’t care about the humans. Minus One became one of the rare examples of us caring about these people and wanting them to live! I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve cried and shred tears a few times watching this. And our boy Godzilla was NOT having it in this movie! This might be the most angry and pissed off I’ve ever seen him. He really wanted to kill them all so badly. Godzilla was a menace but I wouldn’t have it any other way in all honesty.
    Edit: I was also one of the lucky ones to see the black and white version of the movie. It felt a lot more old school. I also enjoyed that one a lot too.
