i consider Yunchan Lim a poet of music.
Agreed. Lim is an aesthete.
Lim is fantastic. Breathing the essence of the Classical period, despite the less than accommodating conductor.
Yunchan deserves it. Hands down. He’s history in d making
Lim!!!
2nd movement. Crying
So beautiful. Takes me to another world. Thank you for uploading it!
Lim is wonderful. The conductor is awkward and seems to letting music control her instead of the opposite.
the Mozart is unbelievable
Such a brilliant play!!!!

Just curious, is this the first time that Gershwin's Piano Concerto has been performed at the finals of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition? Don't remember it ever being on their list of concertos. Well done, Clayton Stephenson, for doing a really fine job!
is the audio weak? i feel like I can't hear everything very clear.
Same here. Read similar complaints last week. Thumbs down to the sound engineer.

Am no pianist but I think Shmukler didn't follow orchestra's tempo and slowed it down too much... He kinda killed the piece at the very beginning.
The conductor used a lot of wasted motion. She conducted notes instead of phrases. In the Rachmaninov, the pianist seemed to be pulling the orchestra along. It is a difficult work, but the orchestra lacked precision and definition and should have listened to the pianist more and followed his subtleties.
In the Gershwin she had to keep quieting the brass. Maybe not such a cooperative atmosphere between orchestra and conductor.
And again tonight
Ilya has opened the door a little. So brilliant in Stravinsky and Prokofiev he was tight here. His biggest asset is his large Romantic sound. I can imagine someone walking through that door and winning.
To be blunt, Ilya was so off that I'm wondering if he just gave up. I've heard 2nd year conservatory students play the Rach3 better than what he did here.
What is the music in the beginning of Final Concerto 1?
2:47:44
What is the music at the opening?
It's Percy Grainger's "Ramble on the last love duet" in "Der Rosenkavalier" by R. Strauss. Beautiful, isn't it?
@@Mr.Dziej72 thank you so much!
Thank you so much to introduce this.❤
Se va la señal.

The orchestra needed more practice.
LIVE CHAT BLIND I WILL NEVER VISIT HERE IN MY LIFE
This young dude is so far from Horowitz 78 carnegie Rachma but he is so nice
Compare to the ages of the two and imagine the skill of age 18 of a Horowitz if he could make it at 18 as much as YunChan Lim has done it. That's a worthless comparison.
@@samkang6684 exactly! just to belittle him?
@@samkang6684 I think he's talking about Ilya Shmukler, who played Rachmaninoff here. He can also be called a young dude, being 27.
I read few times very slowly, and still don't understand what the heck you mean
