Butts Mill | Leigh, Lancashire | 4K Drone

- Butts Mill is a Grade II listed Edwardian cotton mill and was designed by Stott and Sons of Oldham. A few online reports suggest this steam powered mill was built in 1846 however, around 1905 is probably more accurate. The mill is in quite good condition and is a great example of a Lancashire cotton mill. Today it would appear it is used by multiple businesses.

Lovely footage Libby we don't have any old buildings like that here in Fife the seem to knock them down far to quickly nice edit and perfect music 👍
Thanks for your comment. In just the one town alone where I live there was well over 100 such cotton mills in the past, it was a massive industry in the north of England. The vast majority have now been demolished.
Hi Libby. I just happened upon your channel and I'm hooked. The many times I've run, cycled and drove past Butts mill over the past 50 years or so, and only tonight am I seeing what a magnificent building it really is. Also, just watched your Swan mill video too. The combination of the lighting, the angles and the beautiful music is brilliant. Do you have any footage of Rumworth mill just around the corner from Swan mill. I worked there for about 3 years and just read online that the mill itself has closed down. I'm subscribing ! Please keep these videos coming, they are awesome.
Hiya Jimmy, thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked this and the Swan Lane mill videos. It's easy to not pay much attention when passing by such old buildings but I have found increasingly fascinating when filming and trying to find out about their history. I don't have any footage of Rumworth mill, as of yet at least. I don't want my drone videos to only be about Lancashire mills but that said, I do have several more I want to film.
