    That's sick. It makes the log that much more special by making it yourself.

    Talk about a labor of love, so cool to watch the process! I wish I had more headroom in my basement gym for pressing anything thicker than a bar packed in nickle plates.

      Thanks for watching. That is definitely a drawback to basement gyms.

      @@TheKurtlocker The temperature control 365 in the North East and lack of bar maintenance needed are well worth the trade offs for us. But don't worry...not a 35lb plate to be found! Love the mix on your channel, thanks Kurtis!

    Nice job on the log! I understand the time. It is taking me a month to prime and paint my gym. Ceiling, walls and trim get painted. I paint the trim this weekend, which will finish the painting. Then I clean the floor and finally unbox and assemble the equipment.
    I have a full time job with an hour drive each way and 7.3 acres to maintain. It makes projects go slower than I like. Of course in my defense, we took a week vacation after I primed the drywall and trim.

    Awesome work man, i saw your vid and decided to make mine, i cut a big tree down and already removed the bask, its very heavy because of being so green still, did you dry your log or did it dry alone by being outside for some time?

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  3 місяці тому

      Mine sat for a few months before I got after it. I don’t have the space to let it dry for longer.

    May I ask what size wooden dowel did you use for the handle? I just picked up a log today from my local highway dept.

  • @couloirman
    @couloirman 2 роки тому

    Looks like you changed your construction method quite a bit with this log versus your last strong man log series. Why did you ditch the chainsaw this time? Did you like drilling the handles instead of cutting them? How did you make sure to line up your drill holes when inserting your dowel for a handle?

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  2 роки тому

      I changed a lot of processes after some mentoring from some amazing log makers out there including Richard Looney and Steve Slater. I basically measured about 20 times before drilling the handles to get them to line up and didn’t want to carve them from a stability standpoint. The dowel rod is significantly stronger.
