- Duck hunting via falconry with my female peregrine Falcon. These are her first few flights of the season after taking the summer off to molt*. She is still only a fraction of herself in terms of physical ability, but her pitch* and speed have doubled in a short 9 days. She took her first head of game for the 2021-2022 hunting season on her 9th flight.
Molt: an annual shedding of the feathers
Pitch: the height above ground a falcon reaches before it stoops its prey

Hey Megan, really enjoyed your video. I have a serous interest in waterfowling with raptors but was having a difficult time finding informaiton on techniques usd to do so. One of my concerns is that the killed bird would fall on a property on which I wasn't hunting or didn't have permisson to hunt. I live on the east coast of the US and don't have the wide open spaces you have. What's the farthest you've had to travel to retrieve a duck taken by Shiva. How far away from you does Shiva hunt. Thanks.
