Silver Surfer isn't a bad game. Yes it's difficult, and very frustrating, but it's not impossible if you show some patience and learn the layouts of each stage. But if your emotionally weak, and lack patience, then I guess I understand why it may seem bad. They shoulda at least maybe given a health bar, that alone woulda helped alot. This games a blast once you get the hang of it :) just my opinion though

Back in the day i coaxed my little cousin into buying hydlide because the box art was so deceiving and I thought it was good like dragon warrior ,when we got home from toys r us we popped it in immediately and almost stared crying,his dad bought him final fantasy the next day because he was still so upset.

If I correctly understand Silver Surfer, you don't actually have to get hit to die. You die if something hits your surfboard. And in the side view levels, the Silver Surfer's hitbox is a rectangle that completely contains both him and his surfboard, so he can die from something that touches neither him nor his surfboard.
Putting Hydlide on these lists is never really fair. For 1984, it's a GREAT game....but it wasn't ported to the NES in the US until 1989, when its competition was vastly more advanced. As LordKat put it, if Quake 1 came out the same year as Unreal Tournament, Metroid Prime, and Halo, it'd look pretty awful by comparison.

Games like "Don't Buy This" for the ZX Spectrum are considered to be "joke games" since the developers themselves disowned the game. However games like Cassette 50 and Action 52 are indeed nothing but scams whose sole purpose was to rip people off.

You could've just let me make the intros, I would've been fine with that, I have some badass programs like Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas Pro. But send me those intros anyway and I'll check them out. As for the music, sure, put something in and we'll see how it goes.
Imagineering deserves the most hate than LJN. Imagineering's game are the worst games in existence. For example, Swamp Thing on the NES got a guilty verdict because it was by Imagineering. That company is the one to blame, not LJN. LJN may have a lot of licensing issues when it comes to the quality of their video games, but Imagineering is the company that tops LJN for the worst video game company ever. Other than that, great list.
I don't know why everyone keeps talking about Silver Surfer as "one of the worst games EVAAR!". Seriously, it isn't as incredibly horrible as you make it sound like. Yes, it has some noticeable flaws, but it is definitely a hell of a lot better than real crap like Conan and E.T. Silver Surfer at least has a very solid foundation, and the only things that really need be fixed are these ones: *shoot while you hold down the B button *make it easier to tell the difference between the foreground and the background *make Silver Surfer's sprite smaller *allow Silver Surfer to increase his life energy Except for these points, Silver Surfer is basically the same kind of game as Gradius, just with different levels and a different powerup system.

I made a humongous mistake in buying Super Pitfall thinking it would be as good as its Atari 2600 predecessor, Pitfall. I certainly learned a lesson that day. But i feel sorry for those poor souls who actually ponied up $200 for an Action 52 game. Critics be damned, that was a funny video.
Between licensed and unlicensed titles, there were over 800 games on the NES, including many, MANY garbage games, yet you didn't review a single game that the Angry Nerd didn't already do. I doubt this was coincidence.
Good video (though your talk of throwing acid on Little Red Hood made me cringe). That's too bad about the insane controls on "Conan" -- the graphics look pretty good. At first glance I thought they had remade the home computer platformer "Conan: Hall of Volta" by Datasoft from 1984, which had great gameplay, though graphics that, while well-animated, were limited by the technology of the era. My brothers and I felt that the original "Metal Gear" was the worst NES game we ever played. Always surprised me that it became such a long-running and well-liked series. I'm trying to place your accent, but I can't. Yiddish? Swedish? Ladino?? Portuguese??? (I don't find it unpleasant as did one of the other commenters -- just curious.)
Impossible Mission II Needs some consideration. You have no weapon, No mission of objective in the game. I guess that is stated in the title. You are Tom Cruise in a gymnastics leotard running and doing flips over enemies to avoid them. This game should be set on fire!
From a budget perspective, I can see why they went with top down for the Uncanny X-Men game. I would have preferred a Double Dragon or TMNT style beat-em up, but well animations cost money and time to perfect. Top down games are some of the easiest to produce. Even a top down shmup for the X-Men would have been okay to better. Always moving forward, Cyclops shooting forward, Iceman freezing, Storm shooting whirlwinds, Wolverine having a short range weapon, but getting health back. And uh Nightcrawler? Uh give him a gun or just shoot smoke its his new Mutant power! Its possible to have health, even if other shmups were 1 hit = death. Just make the bullets destroy on impact and lose player health. Of course a top down shmup would have possibly fallen into the Silver Surfer level of difficulty. Time + Money = the game that gets released.

You could've just let me make the intros, I would've been fine with that, I have some badass programs like Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas Pro. But send me those intros anyway and I'll check them out. As for the music, sure, put something in and we'll see how it goes.

Imagineering deserves the most hate than LJN. Imagineering's game are the worst games in existence. For example, Swamp Thing on the NES got a guilty verdict because it was by Imagineering. That company is the one to blame, not LJN. LJN may have a lot of licensing issues when it comes to the quality of their video games, but Imagineering is the company that tops LJN for the worst video game company ever. Other than that, great list.

Contra is the easiest NES game I have ever played.Ran through it right away no problems and this was back in the mid 80's as a kid
I don't know why everyone keeps talking about Silver Surfer as "one of the worst games EVAAR!".
Seriously, it isn't as incredibly horrible as you make it sound like.
Yes, it has some noticeable flaws, but it is definitely a hell of a lot better than real crap like Conan and E.T.
Silver Surfer at least has a very solid foundation, and the only things that really need be fixed are these ones:
*shoot while you hold down the B button
*make it easier to tell the difference between the foreground and the background
*make Silver Surfer's sprite smaller
*allow Silver Surfer to increase his life energy
Except for these points, Silver Surfer is basically the same kind of game as Gradius, just with different levels and a different powerup system.

That's not bad for a list of games on the NES that many consider to be bad, but the quality for such a video does need to be fixed, though.
FYI check out the prototype for superman 64. There wasn't a single ring challenge; they made something else then they were told to butcher it!

I made a humongous mistake in buying Super Pitfall thinking it would be as good as its Atari 2600 predecessor, Pitfall. I certainly learned a lesson that day. But i feel sorry for those poor souls who actually ponied up $200 for an Action 52 game.

Between licensed and unlicensed titles, there were over 800 games on the NES, including many, MANY garbage games, yet you didn't review a single game that the Angry Nerd didn't already do. I doubt this was coincidence.

Good video (though your talk of throwing acid on Little Red Hood made me cringe). That's too bad about the insane controls on "Conan" -- the graphics look pretty good. At first glance I thought they had remade the home computer platformer "Conan: Hall of Volta" by Datasoft from 1984, which had great gameplay, though graphics that, while well-animated, were limited by the technology of the era.
My brothers and I felt that the original "Metal Gear" was the worst NES game we ever played. Always surprised me that it became such a long-running and well-liked series.

Impossible Mission II Needs some consideration. You have no weapon, No mission of objective in the game. I guess that is stated in the title. You are Tom Cruise in a gymnastics leotard running and doing flips over enemies to avoid them. This game should be set on fire!
From a budget perspective, I can see why they went with top down for the Uncanny X-Men game. I would have preferred a Double Dragon or TMNT style beat-em up, but well animations cost money and time to perfect. Top down games are some of the easiest to produce.
Even a top down shmup for the X-Men would have been okay to better. Always moving forward, Cyclops shooting forward, Iceman freezing, Storm shooting whirlwinds, Wolverine having a short range weapon, but getting health back. And uh Nightcrawler? Uh give him a gun or just shoot smoke its his new Mutant power!
Its possible to have health, even if other shmups were 1 hit = death. Just make the bullets destroy on impact and lose player health. Of course a top down shmup would have possibly fallen into the Silver Surfer level of difficulty. Time + Money = the game that gets released.
Treasure Master should be in every top 10 worst NES games list.
