*Jeckel and Hyde is Rank #1 for me, I paid full price for that game when it came out, still to this day I have no Idea what I did with that game cartridge.*
I did that with Kings Knight. To a 10 or 12 year old kid, $50 is a buttload of money. I was stoked to go home and play it, I still remember this like it was yesterday, but it was 30 years ago. I popped that game in and played for maybe 15 minutes and I couldn’t take anymore. That was the last time I ever bought a game 1) based on how cool the box art was and 2) before I had the chance to rent it. A lot of these younger gamers don’t know what it was like because nowadays, it’s hard to find a game that is total unplayable garbage. We who grew up with Atari, Commodore 64, NES, etc., are very aware that many of these games were literally broken. Unplayable garbage. We had no UA-cam, no Internet forums, no online sources for gaming, nowhere to get informed about how awful these games really were. We relied on Nintendo Power and word of mouth. But I wouldn’t trade those days for anything!
Hey Friday the 13th was not that bad of a game. I mean sure it was cryptic as shit and well beyond the skill level of anyone who was playing NES at the time. But it actually has some pretty cool ideas with the map and inventory system. Plus that music was creepy as hell.
Only complaint about the music was when you got into a boxing match with him in a house, and if he wouldn't run away, you had 5 straight minutes of the same two notes repeating ("doo-doo", "doo-doo", "doo-doo", "doo-doo", "doo-doo")... my ears went numb sometimes
It absolutely has business being here. The game is garbage.

It's really not that bad. True the execution is faaar from perfect but it's a good concept and after understanding it, it's kinda fun. To be fair, some minor tweaks could improve the game a lot.
Honestly, Friday the 13th on the NES isn't that bad. It's actually pretty unique and even innovative for its time. One of the few games on the system that you could classify as survival horror. You actually have to use your head quite a bit. Yes, it's really hard, but what game on the system wasn't?
I agree with this. People love to hate on that game, and I've never really understood it. The idea that it didn't capture the atmosphere of the movies? Yeah, tell that to 9-year-old me playing it. I had sweaty palms every time I walked into a cabin. As an adult I've found it really entertaining to watch speedruns. The game can be beaten in like three and a half minutes.
Agreed! Friday the 13th is a Hidden Gem once you understand the game completely. It is very cryptic at first and in some ways the game was ahead of its time and that's why it confused everyone. I don't get the hate for LGN either because they are not even close to being the worst company to make video games.
yeah Friday the 13th doesn’t belong here. People just hate it because they don’t know how to play it. although, at least they put Totall Recall on there, that DOES belong, but I would have put it higher up. . . where is Little Red Hood? Hong Kong ‘97? I also thought Dragon Power sucked big ones (i played it before I knew it was based on Dragon Ball, but it still sucks despite knowing that now). karate kid, predator, last action hero, robocop vs terminator, dragon’s lair, all worse than friday the 13th. i bet I could dig up 20 more if I was willing to do the research
I actually loved the X-Men game back in the day. You've got to remember that all we had back then was Pryde of the X-Men NOT the X-Men TAS that aired in Fox Kids years later. Plus every character had a distinctive power that you could use to your advantage, and the game itself had a sort of Tron aesthetic to it.
I did as well, even if I never had any idea what to do. Then again, it was also one of the few NES games I owned, and back then you just made the best with what you had, so it's possible I was just fooling myself.
Exactly, and fun fact, it was developed by ATLUS, best known for the Persona series these days. The issue for Friday the 13th, stems from rental culture back in the day, people would rent Friday the 13th, and not know how to properly play the game. ONce you learn how the game works, and what you should be doing, it's not a bad game either. I know a lot of people get confused by the map screen to, but it's not that hard to figure out when you learn that going one directly, will essentlly flip once you get to the top of the map. [once you go all the way right, when you're at the top of the map you're moving left along the top of the map while still traveling right on the 2D sidescroller plane.] While confusing at first, it can be overcome and learned. Is it a perfect game, oh no, far from it, but it's not the absolute "terrible" game, so many people try to say it is. and given the limitations of the age, and the property they had to work with, they did a pretty damned good job with what they had.
Flash Frame it's not my cup of tea, I personally don't like it myself but it's not the most terrible game ever. I think experts of that game can beat it in a few minutes. It definitely gets over hated like how Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is often cited as this super impossible to beat game when it really isn't even the top ten hardest NES games, like at all. But it's all subjective in the end I guess.
Count Landon Smith Hydlide was actually well received on release in Japan. Only the american release got shit on by critics but that‘s just because in America it released after the first Zelda came out wich basically did everything Hydlide did but a thousand times better. But considering it came out before Zelda in Japan it was technically revolutionary and thus well received.
Andrew Ollmann yes exactly when the game came out everyone was like „omg have you listened to that 30 second music loop from Hydlide that thing is so catchy I‘m gonna bump that all day it‘s so revolutionary“ cause there clearly is totally nothing else in the game
Tag Team Pro Wrestling does not deserve to be on this list. You'r confusing it with the WrestleMania game by LJN if you're thinking of a bad wrestling game. Oh, and you forgot Jaws, also by LJN.
If I've learned anything from all of the Famiclone carts reviews I've seen (from JohnTron to Rerez to the Gaming Historian), all of them seem to have "Tag Team Match: MUSCLE" and everyone seems to hate it
Deadly Towers really confused me as a kid, but I never thought of it as a bad game, just one I didn't understand. That game was such a confusing maze of rooms and I'm not even sure I figured out what everything in that game did like the currency.
This game is actually pretty good. The controls are super smooth, and once you get upgrades on the speed of your weapon and power, it gets so much better.
Friday the 13th was awesome. Read the instruction booklet and prepare for a learning curve, but it’s really satisfying once you get it. It is a dark game though and probably better suited for teenagers/adults.
With so many terrible games on the NES, why no dishonorable mentions list??? Here would've been some worthy candidates: Super Pitfall Dragons Lair The Terminator Terminator 2: Judgement Day Bill And Teds Excellent Adventure Wolverine Spider-Man: Return Of The Sinister Six Superman Kid Kool
Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure should definitely be on this list because as a kid like other kids enjoyed that movie thoroughly it was so convoluted and impossible to figure out what you were supposed to do next
My List 10: The Uncanny X-Men 9: Tag Team Pro-Wrestling 8: Barbie/ Back To The Future 7: Where's Waldo? 6: Ghostbusters 1 & 2 5: Friday The 13th 4: Little Red Hood 3: Silver Surver 2: Action52 1: Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde
I beat the barbie game as a kid... My great grandma owned the NES, so I played what she bought... Fortunately there were a couple of gems, like kickle cubile, bubble bobble and Duck Tails.
The only reason that I didn't like Friday the 13th was it was too scary. Jason just appeared out of nowhere. THAT was what made Friday the 13th one of the worst games I ever played. But as a game in itself, it wasn't that bad.
I’m honestly surprised at all the Friday the 13th love in the comment sections. Come on guys, that game was absolute crap. I will say that JAWS was way worse and probably should have taken its place on the list, but Friday the 13th good?? Aw hell no.
Honestly, Friday the 13th is a good game once you dig into it. It's very well thought out. If you don't want to read the manual and think you can just jump into every game and mindlessly spam "fire" like most games, well, you deserve to get your ass kicked. AND WHERE THE HELL WAS WINSTON IN THE GB GAME?!?!?!
That Ghostbusters game looked almost exactly like the version I used to have for the Apple IIe(2e) computer. There's only a few minor changes, but it's essentially the same.
You missed my nighmare of ALL NES GAMES, MAG MAX, an endless game with stupid and boring music, the game just go into a loop again and again and again, no ending at all
5:54 this game is beatable with infinite health code that was called Invincibility that you can find just by googling it but still a tough game too but at least somehow you can beat it
I agree, but here are my top 10 worse games: 1. Silver Surfer (1990) 2. Wolverine (1991) 3. T.M.N.T. (1989) 4. Temple of Doom 5. Rambo 6. Gillagen's Island 7. Jaws 8. Top Gun 9. A Nightmare on Elm Street 10. The Karate Kid
One of these games might also be the Worst Marvel Game Of All Time. Go over to MojoPlays to find out more: ua-cam.com/video/KiHzfO7rrHA/v-deo.html
WatchMojo.com 1st
WatchMojo.com 2nd
WatchMojo.com 3rd
WatchMojo.com do top 10 worst Action 52 games
WatchMojo.com Time to watch 10 avgn videos 🤗👍
It seems like you guys just watched a bunch of AVGN videos and came up with this list from him.
AroundIndiana exactly
i dont remember the nerd doing a video on the waldo game, unless that was from a really early video
T00 POINT 0H it was in his wish list videos,
Agreed
ok, but you have to think, avgn pretty much played a shit ton of nes shit
He's gonna take you back to the past...
Mattia Agosta to play some shitty game that suck ass
To play the shitty games that suck ass...
a buffalo.. Take a diarrhea dump in his ear..
Marty McFly?
He's the angriest gamer you've ever heard
Almost every AVGN fan would already know what number 1 was XD
It sure wasn't Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Definitely de jekyl and mr hyde 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yea hyde
Totally not Dr Jekyll
Yeah
*Jeckel and Hyde is Rank #1 for me, I paid full price for that game when it came out, still to this day I have no Idea what I did with that game cartridge.*
ua-cam.com/video/EjXn5qiM8Zw/v-deo.html
Bury it in a landfill like Atari did with E.T.
Give it to AVGN. He'll know what to do
I did that with Kings Knight. To a 10 or 12 year old kid, $50 is a buttload of money. I was stoked to go home and play it, I still remember this like it was yesterday, but it was 30 years ago. I popped that game in and played for maybe 15 minutes and I couldn’t take anymore. God bless the AVGN!
This video just made me want to go watch some AVGN episodes
RICKDOGG SLC Ikr
RICKDOGG SLC me too
See you on his channel homie!
Yep AVGN forever!!!!
Never did i expect the narrator to completely show his face.
I certainly consider that a surprise.
The game was that bad, you had to speak to the audience face to face trust me
If James Rolfe made a redux of this list, he would make Mojo's number 3 pick as number one.
And as AVGN would put it,"I am dead F#$KIN serious".
Dead fucking serious
Hey Friday the 13th was not that bad of a game. I mean sure it was cryptic as shit and well beyond the skill level of anyone who was playing NES at the time. But it actually has some pretty cool ideas with the map and inventory system. Plus that music was creepy as hell.
Only complaint about the music was when you got into a boxing match with him in a house, and if he wouldn't run away, you had 5 straight minutes of the same two notes repeating ("doo-doo", "doo-doo", "doo-doo", "doo-doo", "doo-doo")... my ears went numb sometimes
I would have included one of those unlicensed games like Bible Adventures instead of Friday
or M.U.S.C.L.E.
Need I bring up the rock weapon?
Also James Rolfe is a kinda bad gamer rather than games being objctvelly bad, is a harsh sad trith i've noticed though
It's game over man, game over!
Thank you, Hudson. And no, u can't take your chicken-shit outfit.
Well, that's just great! What the fuck are we supposed to do now?!
Mouwstly.
I'll take the soup
Fool's Requiem Maybe we can build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?
Friday the 13th has no business being on this list.
Agreed, i loved playing that game for some reason,
I remember I used to really enjoy playing that game and I actually beat it. Then again I may have been using the game genie at the time.
It absolutely has business being here.
The game is garbage.
It's really not that bad. True the execution is faaar from perfect but it's a good concept and after understanding it, it's kinda fun. To be fair, some minor tweaks could improve the game a lot.
That's a fact I loved that game
I'm shocked that the Home Alone Lost In New York game didn't make it to this list! That game was brutal in every conceivable way!
he's gonna take you back to the past
Shadow the Edgehog to play the shitty games that suck ass
To play these games that suck ass
It's The Angry Video Game Nerd
We need more Kyle in his videos. He's been behind the couch too damn long since Akari Warriors.
Shadow you do mean Marty McFly right?
Honestly, Friday the 13th on the NES isn't that bad. It's actually pretty unique and even innovative for its time. One of the few games on the system that you could classify as survival horror. You actually have to use your head quite a bit. Yes, it's really hard, but what game on the system wasn't?
That WrestleMania game with Hulk Hogan on the front was bad too.
How dare you. Friday the 13th was awesome
I'm feeling much better browsing these comments and glad to see I'm not alone.
Loved it
Agreed, really fun game. Wish people took the time to learn it.
If you see an LJN logo on an NES game, you know your in for a ride down. 👎🤣👎
Sonsky Infante True AF
Number one better be Dr. Jacqueline Mr. Hyde if I’ve learned anything from AVGN
DeathGamingXP unfortunately #1 is Ghostbusters.
K 9 Poodle Thanks for the spoilers
K 9 Poodle that should have been given an honorable mention
Friday the 13th is not a bad game once you know what to do
Yeah it was actually pretty good.
In my opinion it's one of the best.
Difficulty killed the game for most people. But, most people are mindless tools from my experience.
I agree there are way worse games than Friday the 13 on the NES system.
I thought it was a great game. Decent combat and had to be a little strategic with your character selection
How dare you hate on NES Friday the 13th? If you know how to play it, they game can be really fun.
True
Agreed! Friday the 13th is a Hidden Gem once you understand the game completely. It is very cryptic at first and in some ways the game was ahead of its time and that's why it confused everyone. I don't get the hate for LGN either because they are not even close to being the worst company to make video games.
4:46 Why is the player tasked with DODGING the lightning bolts? Getting the vehicle struck by lighting is the whole point of the film's final act!
Friday was just in the wrong Ara, now it would get a 7/10 ign
Raviolli Fagitolli I think you mean “Era.”
Andrew Ollmann -71 respect
Nah 2/10 too much water
Raviolli Fagitolli it's almost the same game as the new one...just single player. And 8 bit.
The background track is really refreshing! Updating the music makes every video new and enjoyable :)
The Uncanny X-Men? Really? Friday the 13th? Really? What about Back To The Future II + III? Dance Aerobics? Swamp Thing?
Why are you questioning Uncanny X-Men? That is definitely one of the worst.
Because James Rolfe didn't give them material on those games so he could plaugerize a script in time for press.
Swamp thing sucked lol uncanny X-men was awful too. Friday the 13th was good
Jackly hyde should of been number 1
Just looking at these games made me appreciate Superman 64, no wait. I take that back
RetroFalconPilot 23 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"Any encounter with the masked murderer ends in death since he's just too damn hard to kill..."
That explains 11 sequels.
Their where 12 movies and Jason was only in 11 of them
5:36 Probably the best reaction moment from Watchmojo.
Great list... EXCEPT for "Friday the 13th". I thought it was pretty fun and I beat it MULTIPLE times. So yeah 🤣😎
Alexinator wow really?! Thats the smartest logic ive ever heard
Yeah I'd put Swamp Thing in the list over Friday the 13th.
.......HOW?
yeah Friday the 13th doesn’t belong here.
IKR, Friday The 13th was 1 of my favorite game on the NES and I beat it multiple times.
After 3 years, I don’t think I ever saw your face, so that part you appeared in really made my day
Friday 13 was good
Rafael Hasbun it sure was. Burned a huge chunk of my childhood playing it
Rafael Hasbun naw bro you wrong
I thought total recall was decent, too. Wheres wwf steel cage challenge?
Should have said: "Conglaturations, you have completed a great video!" at the end.
Someone's certainly been watching AVGN :-P Also, weirdly enough, I rather enjoyed Friday the 13th back in its heyday.
I did as well, even if I never had any idea what to do. Then again, it was also one of the few NES games I owned, and back then you just made the best with what you had, so it's possible I was just fooling myself.
poor child
If it’s one thing I learned from AVGN the number one spot on this list should be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
DeathGamingXP that's what I said
Yes
yep! and silver surfer
Cheetahmen 2. Hands down the worst game for NES. And probably the laziest.
"Barbie"on the NES shows that pink plastic isn't always fantastic
People hating friday the 13th game, is just because they don't know how to play. Once you know it's a pretty good game.
I can beat the game in like 10 minutes. It’s awful.
Everyone says Friday the 13th NES is bad, but it's really not... it's actually quite a good game.
Flash Frame Angry Video Game Nerd begs to differ.
James Rolfe, before replaying it with Mike mentioned he actually kinda liked the game.
The Game Grumps episode where the game straight up just crashes is a classic.
Hydlide, anyone??
Count Landon Smith Hydlide was actually well received on release in Japan. Only the american release got shit on by critics but that‘s just because in America it released after the first Zelda came out wich basically did everything Hydlide did but a thousand times better. But considering it came out before Zelda in Japan it was technically revolutionary and thus well received.
Leon Saridakis A 30-second loop of the Temple of Doom theme is revolutionary?
Andrew Ollmann yes exactly when the game came out everyone was like „omg have you listened to that 30 second music loop from Hydlide that thing is so catchy I‘m gonna bump that all day it‘s so revolutionary“ cause there clearly is totally nothing else in the game
Just rolls of your tongue!
2:08
Why does "Total Recall" have music from "Metal Gear" playing?
Tag Team Pro Wrestling does not deserve to be on this list. You'r confusing it with the WrestleMania game by LJN if you're thinking of a bad wrestling game.
Oh, and you forgot Jaws, also by LJN.
Jaws isn't that bad. Yes there isn't much to it and it gets monotous but it's no top10 material by far.
If I've learned anything from all of the Famiclone carts reviews I've seen (from JohnTron to Rerez to the Gaming Historian), all of them seem to have "Tag Team Match: MUSCLE" and everyone seems to hate it
Tag Team Wrestling is bad, but it's not top ten bad
M.U.S.C.L.E. should have been on the list instead
or Bible Adventures
5:36 That was an awesome segway there. I really feel your rage and now count myself lucky enough to have never played that one as a kid!
Back to the future 2 and 3 is number one to me.
AVGN brought me here.
Me too
Same here
Did he drive you here in his car ?
Friday the 13th was awesome. Read the instruction booklet and prepare for a learning curve, but it’s really satisfying once you get it. It is a dark game though and probably better suited for teenagers/adults.
Video games used to be so much harder, and like everything, they have gotten softer over the last two decades.
Snowflakes can’t handle losing...
With so many terrible games on the NES, why no dishonorable mentions list??? Here would've been some worthy candidates:
Super Pitfall
Dragons Lair
The Terminator
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Bill And Teds Excellent Adventure
Wolverine
Spider-Man: Return Of The Sinister Six
Superman
Kid Kool
"WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??" - AVGN
Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure should definitely be on this list because as a kid like other kids enjoyed that movie thoroughly it was so convoluted and impossible to figure out what you were supposed to do next
AVGN sends his regards
I remember renting Ghostbusters from Blockbuster. I couldn’t figure out how to climb those god forsaken stairs! Uggh
Oh come on. Friday the 13th was great! One of my favs!
NOOOO!!!! YOU SHOWED YOUR FACE!!!! Don't get me wrong, you not a bad looking guy, but you're a voiceover. That kinda.......kills it
LJN, you should be ashamed of yourselves for such atrocious games!
He'll no they made some of my favorite wrestling toys
Andrew Haase, you should be ashamed for being unable to form your own opinion!
J Smith
TOYS...yes
Those were ACTION FIGURES, which they were GOOD AT,. video games they were NOT good at
Finally a genuine reaction about mojo's content from it's narrator that is not scripted.
About time you guys be original for a change.
My List
10: The Uncanny X-Men
9: Tag Team Pro-Wrestling
8: Barbie/ Back To The Future
7: Where's Waldo?
6: Ghostbusters 1 & 2
5: Friday The 13th
4: Little Red Hood
3: Silver Surver
2: Action52
1: Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde
Angry Video Game Nerd
5:36 part killed me 😂😂😂
LJN learned? Hell no they didn't
Lil P5ych0 Yep,which lead to Jaws and Beetlejuice.
ua-cam.com/video/GxjSlVm7t8w/v-deo.html
like LJN...
EA never learns...
Well, there was Maximum Carnage on the SNES...
OuchMySpleen That's literally the only exception.
5:36 - So THAT’S the man behind the voice.
Is anyone thinking about AVGN right now?
Every damn normie here
I beat the barbie game as a kid... My great grandma owned the NES, so I played what she bought... Fortunately there were a couple of gems, like kickle cubile, bubble bobble and Duck Tails.
Friday the 13th was a decent game.
Great List
5:36 Face reveal FTW
MegamanElric16 Dan's face has already revealed in the Mojoplays promo, the Mojoplays let's play of Far Cry 5, and some top 10 deconstructed list.
MegamanElric16 he's shown his face before

8. Swissers
7. Condoms
6. Big Gulps
5. Nachos
4. Hot Dogs
3. Donuts
2. Coffee
1. Slurpees
Who else played these games
Played everyone of them as a kid
Almost all of them. Fuck this
I've beaten Barbie and Where's Waldo (on medium).
Regrettably, I rented most of them once; at least I only wasted a few bucks as opposed to over $50 buying them...
I feel bad for the kids who played these games.
Luckily I never played any of these games 🤔
I feel like we need a public inquiry into why Ghostbusters was so bad. We need put those devs on the hotseat and make them answer for their crimes.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Sure it's a fantastic game NOW, but you couldn't even play it on the NES.
The only reason that I didn't like Friday the 13th was it was too scary. Jason just appeared out of nowhere. THAT was what made Friday the 13th one of the worst games I ever played. But as a game in itself, it wasn't that bad.
Friday the 13th game has to be my favourite game ever
I used to love Friday the 13th as a kid. Also, I didn't know there were such a thing as a bad video game back then.
Same here. I used to like bionic granny on the c64. Look that one up it's terrible 🤣 👵
Now that Alex Jones is cancelled(thank jesus) can you make a top 10 crazy moments(things said) on his channel?
YES!! Censorship is awesome huh?
I died laughing when you said Ghostbusters. I beat that too. Lolol
AVGN?
I’m honestly surprised at all the Friday the 13th love in the comment sections. Come on guys, that game was absolute crap. I will say that JAWS was way worse and probably should have taken its place on the list, but Friday the 13th good?? Aw hell no.
Silver Surfer should of also been on the list.
If not for the one-hit kills, then for how they made Galactus orange instead of purple in the clips of him speaking with the Silver Surfer.
Exactly
Not really. Sure, it's unreasonably difficult, but nowhere near a top 10 worst.
I wouldn't go that far, although there are plenty of other better shooters on the NES.
I liked Tag Team Wrestling a lot. It was one of my favorite wrestling games on the system. It’s definitely better than any of the WWF games.
Top 10 worst watchmojo moments
Would need more than 10 tbh.
You forgot about NES Dragon's Lair, and that's perhaps for the best.
Agree 100%
*insert clever joke*
Waffle Daily Conglaturation, you have completed a great game.
It's good to finally see Handsome Dan on screen again
Honestly, Friday the 13th is a good game once you dig into it. It's very well thought out. If you don't want to read the manual and think you can just jump into every game and mindlessly spam "fire" like most games, well, you deserve to get your ass kicked.
AND WHERE THE HELL WAS WINSTON IN THE GB GAME?!?!?!
5:35 You guys seriously need to do this more often.
Yeah add their opinion from their experience, so the list can be stronger
I could think of a lot worse games than total recall. I enjoyed this one growing up. Also, that’s Metal Gear music, not total recall.
Friday13th on Nes was awesome. Jason would make surprise pop up and scare the bejejus out of you. Those counselors had some hard-core jumping skills.

Back to the future was super addictive, fast paced and challenging. awesome game.
That Ghostbusters game looked almost exactly like the version I used to have for the Apple IIe(2e) computer. There's only a few minor changes, but it's essentially the same.
Great list.
