    You guys cracked me up with this one. Inspired. You could both star as well if you made it a role switch movie like Clambake. Jamie could play the enthusiastic movie Elvis and John as the alter ego voice of sanity telling him not to I don't wanna sing theres no room to Rhumba in a Spaceship. Id set in space as an exotic location and you could have deliberately awful not so special effects you and hire surving co stars dancing with Zimmer frames. Making a bad Elvis movie has so many options. Who needs dramas when we have Elvis movies? 😂

      Paul, I love all of this - can't wait for John to see it! And we can absolutely do an Elvis movie in space - I already have the green screen, or even a way to do rear projection! 🤣

    Chip Hunk, rising wheelbarrow racing star, gets a job as a deckchair attendant at an expensive beach club in order to raise the money to send his cute six year old niece (Suzy Dinky) to ballet classes. (Song “Riding the Barrow”)
    Mistaken for a rich playboy, Melody Buxom, makes her move. But Chip falls for Helen Virginal, meek librarian at the resort. Helen finds Chip annoying, but offers to help Suzy with her dance lessons (song. “Rockin' the Tutu”).
    When the library is threatened with closure, Chip picks up his guitar and pulls in the kids (song “Book-Learning Blues”). Local trouble-maker Greasy Joe, refuses to put the books back in the right place, leading to a confrontation. When Greasy pulls a paper-knife, Chip deploys his karate skills, which he picked up in the army. (Song “This Book is Overdue”). The kids cheer.
    Helen starts to fall for Chip. When Suzy fractures an eye-lash in a pirouette accident, Chip calls Helen to help and as they sit and watch Suzy fall asleep, Helen and Chip kiss. (Song “Didn't Learn That From a Book”) They arrange to meet for dinner the next day.
    But the next morning Chip is informed of an illegal wheelbarrow race being run on the beach. Concerned that there will be an accident, Chip heads for the beach and when the police arrive, he is among those arrested and thrown in jail. Melody Buxom sees him being taken away. Finding himself in a cell with a 4-piece band (Song: “A cell That Has Everything”)
    Waiting for Chip to arrive for dinner, Melody Buxom arrives and hints that she and Chip spent the day together, causing Helen to pack her bag and head for the helicopter pad.
    Finally released from jail, Chip arrives back at the resort where Melody sympathises with Chip and tells him that Helen has left. Chip runs to the helicopter pad to see Helen just about to board. He gets into the pilots seat and takes off, a skill he picked up in the airforce. (Song “Gettin' High in the Sky”)
    When the helicopter develops engine trouble, he grabs Helen and they jump into the sea. Chip dives down and pulls Helen to the surface (a skill he picked up in the navy) and they reach a small sandy island. (Song “Stranded in Paradise”)
    The coast guard cutter arrives, with Suzy waving from the prow, to find Chip and Suzy kissing and the crew cheers. As the cutter heads back to the resort, the Captain marries Chip and Helen (song “Everthing turned out alright after all”). As Chip and Helen embrace, in the background Melody and Greasy are seen hand in hand. 😂

    A great and fun idea!!!!! You guys can defiantly pull it off. Your combined knowledge and talent will show through and the movie will have all the factors that an Elvis film had. Jamie will handle the star role well as seen in his early stage shows and John will make sure the direction and production will be just right for that type of early to mid sixties romp. You have proven with the My Society number that you will nail the soundtrack songs easily !!!! Go for it Boys 😀💞

    This was a fun, at times hilarious video to watch guys. If anyone could pull off making some semblance of an Elvis movie, without an actual Elvis, I'd back you two. A couple of things I've learnt from this video - (1) I had assumed your theme song "My Society" was an actual Elvis track from maybe one of his soundtracks? It's such an authentic sounding song so kudos to you both. It contains a number of Elvis 'tropes' in the recording including the sound, rhythm, guitar work & backing vocals nothwithstanding the rather convincing Elvis-like vocal. (2) the more I watch you guys, the more I appreciate that you're not 'precious' about Elvis' work especially in film. Despite your clear love for Elvis, you can see certain elements for what they truly are. (If it's bad it's bad). Jamie, your suggestion of a Mel Brooks like parody is brilliant, particularly if the movie is still made with enough love & reverence for the subject. Brooks did that with "High Anxiety", a faithful Hitchcock pastiche with loads of 'Easter eggs', but especially with "Young Frankenstein", from the use of the original "Frankenstein" set through to it being shot in black & white. ('Yes! Yes! Say it! He was my boyfriend!' 😅😅).
    I'm really tempted to become a member of this channel if only to see the suggested 'extras' from this project. Good luck with it. Congratulations on the first season. I haven't managed to see every episode and am working my way through your excellent Elvis film ranking videos. Cheers guys. Looking forward to Season 2 of EAP. TAKE CARE 😎😎 😊👍👍

    • @EAPSociety

      Peter, I really appreciate that - thank you! On the precious part, I like to think of it this way: certain elements in the films are pure cheese, and I do enjoy me some cheese from time to time, on it's own merits. lol And you're dead-on about Mel Brooks: heck, I'd love to have him involved (no idea how to make that happen, but still, lol) just to have an authentic reason to end an "Elvis parody" movie with him saying the line "it's good to be the king!" And thank you so much on the first season; it's been a joy, and I'm looking forward to everyone seeing what all we want to do for season 2! The movie part will be slow going for now, but I'm hoping to pick things up more before too long!

    A labour of love guys very interesting and speaking of Sam Katzman I have watched another movie over the years that Elvis would of been a real asset in . The Fastest Guitar Alive about a spy during the civil war who is an entertainer undercover with some great songs . This was a 1967 MGM movie produced by Katzman starring Roy Orbison I love Roy but as an actor he is very shy and reserved Elvis would of been perfect even Joan Freeman co- starred loved the talk and great 1st season John and Jamie all the best Carl

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  Рік тому +2

      Thanks, Denny! It'll definitely be challenging, and something we'll take little looks at here and there in the future as we come across more specific ideas for learning opportunities in the process (for us as well as everyone).
      Right now, me (this is Jamie, btw) playing the "Elvis" character is the default option, assuming we get that far, lol - but deepfake could be fun!
      And thank you so much on the soundtrack love, we really appreciate that!

    • @NickyMetropolis1313
      @NickyMetropolis1313 Рік тому

      The thing is a deep fake takes away some of the acting. And eventually they will be replacing actors I am assuming with complete digital holograms of dead actors and musicians. A deep fake of Elvis's true face over Austin Butler would take away so much of the performance although perhaps it would look a little bit more like the real Elvis. I don't personally care to see much extended use of deep fake technology.

    Help me understand Elvis's commitment phobia. How could he let his seemingly insatiable appetite for women ruin his life?

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  Рік тому +1

      There's quite a bit to unpack in Elvis's relationships, really. I mean no disrespect by any means at all, but the question framing does imply assumptions concerning Elvis's perspective and relationships that is missing information that we do have, as well as some info that few people (still living) have. Delving into the psychology of Elvis's probable mindset would require quite a lengthy video (which we definitely don't mind doing) that takes care to paint everyone in as generous a light as possible so as not to demonize one person or another (nearly everyone is more nuanced than that). I can say, though, that I don't see Elvis's general lack of a solo parter as being the largest negative factor in his life. He very likely did have commitment issues, but due to how history played out, it would be hard to know 100% for sure, and goes beyond a personal issue. But the larger related topic is absolutely something worth discussing in a future episode!

    • @LoanShoppingExpert
      @LoanShoppingExpert Рік тому

      @@EAPSociety I tend to think he (literally) slept with a lot of women but didn't have penetrative sex with a lot of women. I think he was more sexually fastidious than that.

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  Рік тому

      I think that's accurate, given what we know from accounts - and I think there are a number of potential factors involved in the possible reasoning for that; some of which are likely basic biology and career protection, but some (also given what has been said) suggest something much more personal and (I think more likely) interpersonal on an emotional level, as opposed to physical.

    • @LoanShoppingExpert
      @LoanShoppingExpert Рік тому +1

      @@EAPSociety People say the Memphis Mafia would bring girls to Graceland and the women would end up in Elvis's bedroom. Well, Elvis's "bedroom" was the size of an apartment--about 800 sqft--so where else could he get to know her in privacy? People are too judgmental.

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  Рік тому

      Exactly. That's part of the interpersonal that I'm referring to.
