So, idolatry is bad. It is bad not to believe in a God who orders you to massacre peaceful people and rewards you for burning your only daughter, because these things are good on a larger scale. Should we really waste our time commenting on that, or paying any attention to that "gentleman"?
Religious faith can make humans do inhumane things to one another because it absolves them of any blame for wrong doing. When the "ultimate and omnipotent being" gives orders, who are we to disobey? But there is no objective way to prove that a) the omnipotent being exists to give the order and; b) that was the exact order that this being gave to this particularly tiny - it's always a very small select group of MEN for some reason - group.
So in essense what Trent is saying is that not worshipping the correct tyrannical overlord is worse than massacring a city of innocents, killing two lovers in front of each other, and burning children alive. One thing I would love all Christians to answer (assuming they are parents) is "if god commanded it, would you kill your own child?". Most I ask can never answer this question honestly. I normally get "well god wouldn't do that" or "well times are different now". The way I see it, if they say "no" then they don't really follow god and they have no businesstrying to push anyone else to follow a god they wouldn't follow themselves. Also with regards to Job, he says that "god is all powerful, he can infinitely compensate any bad things we endure" this is sick. God indirectly killed a man's family, God's recompense if memory serves was, he gets a new family. Tell me, if I were to break into his house and kill his family, but then turned around and said, "well I didn't do a bad thing because, look have this new family to replace the one I butchered in front of you" How in the fuck is that compensation?

The god of the Bible is a murderer in the same way Sauron is in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The god of the Bible isn’t bad, he’s just written that way.
Following the natural law? What’s the natural law based on I wonder if not minimizing harm? Why could god choose to disallow murder? What because he flipped a coin?
Oh man.... Y do u bother to debate these Christian charlatans???? And how on earth people do believe in the God of the Bible???? As David Mitchell said once : That's why education is important!!!!!

So if I take Trent's interpretation correctly, it is perfectly ok for God to torture a child (for fun or otherwise ?) with the likes of multiple types of cancer, physical deformity, psychological and mental illness, and any number of other cruel and painful life ending illness because God gave life in the first place. No he’s a character in a fictional book that kills.
