I literally started playing it again in season 5, I played a lot during season 1 and 0, in season 2 and 3 I played once, season 4 I didnt even have the game, in season 5, my friends started playing it, and the game is really fun, and the fanbase actually isnt cancer like fortnite.

@@davidwaters_ same i have been playin since day 2, i finally found a play style n a good main which wad octain, i use a sential and a peace keeper, i try to snipe them in the head n break their shield or wait for my team mate to call out a low target or broken sheild, and then i rush in with my jump pad and hopfully finish them off with my peace keeper dodging and crouching left. N right(the crouching is more effective with revenant but i dont play him much) i come close to winning with this tatic but at the moment i been having bad internet and a hard time finding "good post" that doesnt say "SWEAT AND RUSH"

No big streamers play it unless its a new season were they try it for 2 days and as far as esport side it has little to none. Not mentioning the fact it barley hits if not at all top 10 games on twitch also ranked takes awhile to queue

Yet, Titanfall 2 exists.
If only more people played it.
332guyver1 I just recently got titanfall 2 as it was on sale for only 5 bucks and I must say I now know exactly why the tf community is mad that the devs stopped working on another tf game. The fact that there is a 10 year plan for apex just because it had a really good start and made alot of money is outrageous and a slap in the face to all tf fans. Tf 2 is a hidden gem and I’m now very sad there won’t be another for a very long time.
Well the thing is the game just wasn't marketed well. I played Titanfall 1 and didn't enjoy it all that much. But evidently 2 was a huge improvement, and I miss that ship when set sail. Ironically now, I want Titanfall 3, and of course, all their focus is on Apex which is on a decline in enjoyment for me.
Titanfall 2 is my fav FPS of all time.

This was probably a pretty accurate video at the time of its release but I think apex has mostly gotten out of its rough patch in the road. Sure there’s still issues to be fixed (better servers for example) but mostly apex is a much better game than it was at the time of this videos release. They turned down the ridiculous muzzle flash, balanced legends, balanced guns, gave sniper its own ammo, etc
I'm one who believes that the "fun part" of what Apex Legends had is that stuff WASNT balanced to the point of counting hairs. I would much rather have ALL of the weapons be all over the place rather than everything be "perfect" to the point where everything damn near feels the same

This season is what got me back in to apex. I still don’t play as much as before or during season 1, but it’s way better than the last few seasons.

@@ifshy Unfortunately steady decline of playerbase is ALWAYS going to happen, it genuinely doesn't matter how good the game is. People just lose interest over time as the hype dies down, its perfectly natural for a game to go through this in its life cycle. After a year, I expect Apex has lost a lot of the people who played for the hype when it first came out, but reaching a stable population isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I was forced by the game to switch to burst weapons because they avoid the muzzle flash problem. before that, I was clicking on enemies and hoping they would stand still because they were virtually invisible.

Frogwithaflaregun shut that balance of the season one map made sniping very balanced' the season 3 map however broke sniping and made it way to easy for little risk.
@@danielturner88 risks are huge. You make urleft a beacon of loot by making huge sound with a siniper rifle. Rifles are louder than other weapoms and shoot a trail of smoke or light which the enemy can track easlily, find the source and kill it. And its very hard to fully secure a kill that way. People use cover and mobility well when under fire, you gotta be able to push. Snipers are good firefight starters but without a close range optiom they are almost meaningless. They are just support weapons. Not op. If you want a sniper centric royal game play pub g.

At the point of this video was released, season four was literally four days away and if you would have waited a few days for season four to drop a good amount of your points have been heard by respawn, and now were getting tons of stuff to do with events being almost constant since the release of seaon four plus the add of are new legend, and really bring back the fast pass actions from season 1 or even pre-seaon. If you even seen the regular lobbies and ranked now considering you get really fast, and slow passed games pretty regularly, I have had games that are done by the second ring because of so much fast pass plays and hot drops. Snipers are really only used and medium range and even close up now, I've been assassinated by a triple take barely 50 meters away from me so many times it's hard to count. I'm not going lie though the ponit about Gibraltar is true, and a lot about weapons nerfs and buffs are true, but you have to remember, that these weapons and legends NEED buffs and nerfs for game balancing purposes, and we are even seeing Gibraltar nerf coming, and the point of pathfinder, wraith, and Bangalore being bot used for charging is, really, really wrong, I see TONS of wraith paths and Bangalores charging in and killing people for the hell of it, (Me included as a pathfinder main). What really shocked me about this video was how you said respawn was nerfing guns and legends so that you need less skill to play apex, witch I argue is correct, but playing and being good at apex is two completely different things. Yes, you can play apex with all this nerfing of guns and legends, but you will get your ass handed to you if you don't act smart and use your like to your advantage. To end it all off with sbmm, I think it has its problems as well and it's not perfect, but you can definitely still take regular lobbies very less seriously then ranked, like I have full on conversions in casual play, but in ranked it's mostly me being silent and listen for shots and people, and for last couple of weeks in lobbies I've been fooling around with the karber for fun. You bring up some good points for the time, and you are right respawn is not the best at listen to the community, but they are getting much better at it, especially with season four out now, and with ranked spilts, we may be seeing more legends and weapons per season with more map changes. I think you were a little haste in making this video, not literally, in the fact that season four was days away and lot things helped fix a lot of the problems in this video, I think you jumped the gun this just a little bit and you gave literally four more days, I think you would have been satisfied with the changes that came with season four. Maybe I'm wrong and your still mad that the old days of apex is gone, and season four is just not as good as pre season 1 apex, but you have to remember it's a game it's not all about winning, and getting kills, ok maybe in ranked, but it's mostly about having fun fooling around with friends and having a good time, not about getting mad at every little problem about apex, it may not be a perfect game, but what game is, everything has its problems, even you.

I do have to add something really quick to this comment. Apex is still stupid aggresive at times, I had a game today, that ended at the beginning of the second ring. I've aslo noticed that the aggressive play style is really fun with friends, but with randoms it seems less exciting. I think one thing this video is missing is explaining occasional changing play styles depending on the game and moment, not every game is going to be 10 minutes long, you have to think that some games are going to be 15 20 minutes sometimes. Apex legends is more of game meant for changing it up every game trying something new, that's something most streamers don't understand not every round of apex is exactly the same. My only issue with what you said is SBMM is just terrible. It makes it so it is only enjoyable for very early and incredibly skilled players. As someone who is in the lesser end, I constantly find myself against people better than me, and by the time I improve enough to fight and beat them, I get plunked into a new harder lobby which kicks my ass all over again.

The statement wasn't vague players have been giving their opinions on this game and ways to fix it but respawn has never taken any of them into consideration (well they took some of the ideas but very few) this game has a lot of potential and I don't want to see it fall in my opinion the game has its ups and downs but they can make it better all respawn has to do is at least listen to more than one idea from the community and find ways to incorporate it in the game if the idea is dogshit then say so if it isn't put in the game and don't let the community complain

yeah that'a probably right. In terms of popularity and player getting, the devs make a great job. But for those who love the game and want to get better at it and don't want to loose to worse players just because randomized patterns or what else it really sucks.
I personally think in almost every Instance a Company has to decide whether it wants a smaller, but happier, stronger fanbase or a larger, "mainstream" product that almost everybody can play or use. The 2nd option gives out more money hence most of the decisions fall to the second option (see popular music artists who made "special" music but with gained views etc. slowly but steady went into mainstream, see games like now apex, where all weapons more or less feels the same because of the heavy ballancing and skill cap decreasing in General. and e.g. the bunny hoping is the best example. It was removed, because "normal" "mainstream" players can't compete with that hence don't like it. But for better players, not even pros it's so easy to learn and implement in your game. Removing this technique is just lowering the skill gab, to make it more appealing to the mainstream (mainstream is handled as a negative word, but for me it just means that it fits for almost every person, playstyle or skill level) Therefore pros or people who love this game and dedicate many hours to perfect their skill it's not worth it anymore because even with many many hours of training they can't get significantly better just becausr of the game balancing...
And for my personal opinion nerfing Pathfinder that hard just makes pathfinder close to unusable.
just compare to bangalore. In fight its useful that she gets a speed increase and can use her smoke to block the view of the enemy to quickly get away for healing. The same goes for pathfinder when he uses his grapple to quickly get away. But now the ability takes so long to recharge you can use your grabble 1 maybe 2 times in a fight which just makes no sence comparing to the smoke which clearly hides banga from enemies while his grappling hook just transports him into the air while still beeing visible and hitable...
Link me to when he said the game was dead. His point isn’t that nobody plays it anymore, but that respawn did not handle the game how they should have because there was so much lost potential here. The meta has turned into camping with caustic and wattson, and long ranged weapons, rather than skill based encounters that encouraged aggressive play.

yes season 5 is actually apex's best season yet. tonnes and tonnes of new players, and everything's fast paced again, people even figured out how to play wattson aggressively
Apex legends was the first BR ive played to date where ive felt like i actually have full control over my character, with my destiny in my own hands, and thats why i absolutely loved the game at the start, and why i played significantly better in apex than nearly any other game ive played. The movement was so so smooth, and it made me overlook the brokenness of the peacekeeper, R301 and the wingman, which is also slightly nuanced in itself, as they all didnt take zero skill to use, you had to be good to use them well, but when you can do that, you truly feel godly

Almost everyone that I see complaining about this game is pred level players (1% of the player base) . The game is made to be a team based game, they have not tried to hide that. Making the game fast paced so that one person can just go in and destroy a lobby is not what they want their game to be. Players can give all the recommendations they want, they don't have data to back up any decision being made where respawn sees and watches everything that goes on. They see things from the data being collected from the games being played, not from the very vocal 1% of players on twitter.
Go work for a company like respawn for awhile and come back, I bet you won't feel the same way once you're able to see things from somewhere other than your own perspective.

Initially the loved 'bullet jump' in Warframe was just an exploit like the bunny hop heal.
However digital extremes (Warframe's developer) didn't remove the exploit because they saw it made the game enjoyable. It contradicted their vision for the game but the community was fond of it so they made it a feature.
Now Warframe is renowned for that kind of movement and is exactly why it's so popular.
Sometimes the Devs have the best intentions but what they want may not be best for the game. The best developers are those who can see this.
Respawn used to embody this but now not so much.

Sometimes I really wish I could turn back time video game wise. The first time is always the most memorable in my opinion. The first time playing apex,fortnite,cod, trying to find the meta and enjoying the game its a experience you only get to live 1 time.
what i really like about apex is that in reality, it doesn’t matter what gun you use as long as you know how to be effective with it. You could take down someone with a r-301 with some good attachments by using a p2020 you just picked up for shits and giggles.
dead.cereal there’s a lot to consider. Ping especially. What weapon you have doesn’t matter if you’re from a location far from the servers cause the gun won’t save you.

Retitle this: the Rise and Fall of apex legends for people in the top 1% skill range. For normal players, the game is fun. Always has been, and is fun still today. I’m one of those guys who doesn’t touch the wingman much, like you mentioned, but my friends and I still have fun and still win games now and then. What respawn has done is made the game more fun for a larger group of people. I’d rather lose to a team that I had a great fight with instead of being rushed by a wraith with gold armor and a skull piercer wingman and get fucked royally.
Yea respawn has not made insanely awful decisions or anything like that in Titanfall and apex. What I mean by insanely awful decisions I used to play robocraft and it was a game where you build a robot and fight with it I loved it a lot when it came in 2014 and tons of people played it on steam when it came out then in 2015 they removed a lot of content and added lootboxes and a lot of the playerbase gone away from this game and the physics kept feeling poorer but in 2019 they got back most features And removed lootboxes but then they first added a battle pass that was bad then they just abandoned the game to work on gamecraft. Now the reason I bring this up is that robocraft was a great game through my 1,550 hours in it but I switched from putting time in robocraft to apex and he is 100% wrong about this it hasn't fallen ever and I would say he could of made this video if bunny hopping was removed but it hasn't
As a hardcore player do you see what is wrong with the game. You yourself just admitted they lowered the skill gap. While yes, it is a great marketing choice in terms of getting a more consistent player base it is also just not fun... I consider myself a competitive casual, someone who wants to be the best but simply doesn't have the time, I also grew up in the period where games were shifting from large skill gaps to where they are now, and let me tell you, I had a lot more fun playing in high skill gap games. If I got shit on, it's because I was simply worse, therefore I get better to not allow it to happen again, that to me is fun, improving myself to not get beaten by others. Where as this small skill gap can effectively negate how good I am by simply allowing a gibby to ads and instantly add 50 more health, which in a standard wingman against level 1 armor at the beginning of a game is effectively *headshot**bodyshot**sheild**sheild**dead* yes I can hit 2 headshots and be done, but do you see how this is a problem thats all 5 bullets of a wingman which negates my skill. There are so many of these simple things in games and Worlds Edge especially that just ruin games for me. Appealing to a casual audience is just so pathetic in my opinion especially if you want an esports title.

@@Pinguefy yeah, play apex SBMM has to many flaws (like putting level 50s in a game with premade diamond squads) with so many solutions (like removing its effects on players over level 100). But, in terms of balancing, things got better. Sure Gibraltar's nerf is nothing but, peacekeeper got a nerf, snipers aren't as long ranged with the ammo cut, g7 got nerfed, hemlock got buffed, and r-99 got buffed along side the prowler.

Some of the complaints in the first half of the video were really popular opinions to have at the time, but in retrospect I understand where the devs were coming from. Bhop healing was something everyone could do, but it *strongly* enabled full aggro play and was a bit of an easy cop out move for bad positioning. Wingman was ridiculously OP. Plus it was completely broken if you had a character with fast heals like lifeline or a gold bag/shield. No hipfire spread, insane fire rate for the damage output potential. Wraith also never should have had instant phase. All these things were shoehorning the game into a super aggro meta with no real counter play. I agree with respawn in that there needs to be multiple viable play styles, but the way they went about balancing the game around gibby and wall hack characters as a way to counter defensive legends was completely misguided. I really don’t think they understood how little they really needed to do to nerf aggressive play and ease in more different play styles.
Honestly, one of the most annoying things about apex has always been the people with the loudest voices- pro players and their fans- constantly obsessing over how the game used to be, despite the fact that it’s a way better game today, and far better than it used to be.
This game had 1 of the biggest and fastest falls ever when it came out it passed fornite witch was unheard of but only 3 to 4 weeks later over half the player base was gone every season that came out it would jump then go down again but this newest season shows its recovering and hopefully it has the same rise it had when it was born

I would most definitely consider bunny hop healing an exploit. Just because it takes skill to do does not mean that it didn't stray from the dev's intended use of the movement option. Healing isn't supposed to be something you can fucking fly around the map while doing. It is obvious that the devs wanted a player to really consider how safe they were while they were healing. But bunny hop healing takes away from that risk. I understand that lots of players used and loved the mechanic. But it still runs contrary to what the dev's wanted from healing options and I don't fault them for taking it away.

Lol I don't know why popular streamers think games should be designed around what THEY think they game should be like. It's still an amazing game. Half the shit you mention and bitch about you contradict at some point. This game isn't meant to be exactly the same from birth to eventual death. I enjoy the hell out of the current emphasis on strategizing with your team to win fights, combined with choice of legends that compliment and counter other legends. And you don't acknowledged (or understand) how the weapons system works. You get two guns. If you decide to choose and use a sniper you're sacrificing one of your two slots to be used exclusively for long range. If you get surprised by a team up close you're not as well equiped to deal with a short/medium range engagement. I don't know I just don't understand the mindset of a lot of streamers.

Hey man, its been quite some time since this video has been uploaded. I wasnt an average battle royale enjoyer as I mostly played COD, Halo, and other various games of different genres. I played apex briefly in season 5 and had like 2 matches and didnt like it, but i picked it back up in season 7 and it all went downhill from there, im currently at 1200ish hours on it with a peak rank of D4, I really recommend giving it another shot. I play this game from release and literally every season there is a time where there is less fun and hype, but even I start playing some other games, apex always gets me back
Not really since the newer trailers can accumulate more views in a week than the older ones and even the matchmaking is superfast even in a server dedicated for just an city-state.
Many apex creators still have consistent viewerbased and the game is growing much faster in asia and europe while still having a seasonal and non-seasonal events/update every month or so.

give a Season 0 Wingman to a player who is mediocre at FPSes. Is it still OP? Nah, they'd do better with a Spitfire. That was the beauty of it: the skill:reward ratio was best emphasized on those four weapons, as opposed to things like Gibby and Wattson, who have a very skewed risk:reward. I'm fine with nerfs and changes to the meta, but what I wasn't okay with was doing it in an unskilled fashion. Adding RNG to spray patterns, discouraging aggression with low profile, and now adding more leeway for bad aim with the leg shot multiplier.
Crazy that you can have such a reductive opinion of what I said and still agree with the fact that Respawn's implementation of SBMM is botched.

Season 9 though. Literally days after you posted this it started picking back up again though. Been on its way back up for the most part since. Using Twitchtracker since that's the only chart I saw you use.
I think apex is in a very good place now. Wattson is not used nearly as much in pub play, the meta is actually good now (both weapon and legged meta), the new map Olympus which is honestly amazing, the Volt SMG, snipers aren't the main meta anymore, and I feel like respawn has also started listening more. I honestly think apex is in a good spot now and I still believe it to be the best shooter. The only issue is the players that stopped playing the game and won't try it again, the people who say apex sucks without seeing if it really does should come back to the game and see what they think. The game does take some actual skill now too. I really do think apex could rise to the top again, and I feel like it already is rising.
Not really imo... Respawn still hasn't moved in the more agro direction. Since the release of this video they have: nerfed zip hopping, added revenant who is another example of character who relies on abilities for kills, buffed the hemlock which has replaced the old g7 but is even better than the g7 ever was, added rampart who is ANOTHER camping legend who relies on abilities for kills (granted she isnt powerful right now but still, it shows their direction), they added the devo back into ground loot which is the the most skill-les weapon apex has ever seen, they put the pk in the care package, the wingman is still dog shit, sbmm is still and problem and audio is also still a problem AND these are just the changes that they didnt revert. They also tried to reduce the skill gap even more by lowering the ttk in season 6, and they care packaged the r9 for a season. While some of the things he mentioned like muzzle flash have since been fixed, the main problems with the campy direction the game is going is are STILL problems.
How is this a rise and fall? Respawn literally making every event and balanced utilities to keep the community alive. Simply looking at Reddit is a simple proof as they always listen to some feedback.

But going over the things said in order:
0. subtle abilties would mean no abilites at all (or picking them from the map like, say, Warzone). Also Teamgame boils down to teamplay, oh shook.
1. Yes, having only 4 characters to pick because of their kit goes to show that the others need buffs. (Low profile is good even tho it is hated, Fortified works on the other end of the spectrum)
2. Yes, 4 weapons were god tier, refer to point 1 why this is a bad idea.
3. Even after taking away "bunny healing", we still have more than enough movement "hacks" (like wall running). IMO, bunny hopping is a really flawed mechanic, and some games have it, some do not. You can also like the mechanic, or you dont (I find it silly, for instance).
4. Custom config files are just as the name suggests: Custom. Having them on a server based game is always a problem, and most games "officially" shun them (you wont have them in a tournament, for instance). Things that make you perform better is just a step down from cheating.
5. Watson is just a better Caustic, and nobody plays both of em (at least, in high tier comps (Check out bloodhound, Bangalore, Wraith / Revenant / Lifeline))
6. Meta change, really? okay, I also miss the season 2 shield breaker alternator (which everyone hated btw) Snipermeta is a meta choice, because S3 and Crypto gave options for it. S4 gave us Revenant exactly to counter Bunker down styles, or sniper camps, etc.
Most Battle Royale games are sniper meta by choice.
7. Gibby buff came from him being a giant target with bad abilities, and spoiler alert, Mirage is still in the same sitch (thats why my boi will soon get a rework).
8. PK was dreadful, then came the eva8, and PK was still dreadful.
9. Skillbased matchmaking rarely / never works, just ask League of Legends

I was learning to play apex legends. Iplayed for like a month and then i got in to the zipline hopping mechanics to outplay other characters.I was very happy i got the mechanic down and being able to shot at the same time. A week from me learning that mechanic it got patched out. Well apex was nice experience for a 6 weeks or so.
I loved apex but over time I had no one to play with and overtime i couldn't play it. I will always love the game and i hope more of my friends start to play it
I can understand most of this, but if you're not supposed to be able to run while healing then... B-hop healing IS an exploit, and should have been patched. I also personally fully support skill based matchmaking. It might not be fun for you to be matched against players with thousands of kills, but I personally quit the game because of how often I personally was outmatched because there was no SBMM.

Sometimes unintentional mechanics are more fun then the intentional mechanics. And I think patching them out just because it wasn't intended is a waste.
@@jacob6179 sure but if they are too op thats not fair. Its still a br, not csgo. Its meant for some casual gameplay too. If you have to learn a hard skill in order to win a fight then its not that fun for more casual players.
the bhop in source engine wasnt intended but they kept it in because while you moved faster, you also couldnt shoot so it balances itself out. Bhop healing has no downsides so its way too op to keep in
@@senatordodo4240 its a skillbase mechanic, that im sure is hard to pull off and anybody can learn. And I would hardly call it op, as it didn't make the character broken. And the developers shouldn't cater to the casual base so much, just make a proper rank system that matches people according to skill accurately. And just because somethign doesn't have downsides, doesn't mean you should patch it out. Like having good aim has no downsides, so why not just implement an in game aim lock, to balance the game out! Players should be rewarded for being better.
@@jacob6179 there is plenty of skill in apex already. Adding more and more layers of skill doesnt make a good game. If you make a br, you are already catering more to the casual fanbase. Without a casual ffanbase, a br is unlikely to survive because of its lacking competitive drive.
A game where there is no counter play potential and the best player always wins 100% of the time is boring. They made sure healing was slow so that there is a balance between being aggressive and being vulnerable.

Like your breakdown. Far from over for Apex. As a daily player I appreciate the ever changing modes and game play additions. However, I really dislike the way Respawn keeps forcing us to play the way they want us to play and not the way we actually want to play the game. This new inventory change today is just the next push to force the sniper meta they've been pushing forever now.
MrHarrilasagna I totally feel that, completely puzzled with the nade stacking nerf as well. I wish I could hear their actual reasoning for the most recent changes.

Sniping doesn’t really make sense in this game because if you are far away and you knock someone by the time you get over to them they be already picked up by a teammate
Those first 3 weeks were something else memories I'll never lose thanks to my clips but fun I will never get to truly experience again :/ I miss the old wingman and pre big bois/camping out meta

Season 5 of apex I really good, I’ve been playing ugly amounts of it and it’s really good, Muzzle flash isn’t a problem if you have good brightness, (not to high or low), and the wing man is more or less back to the way it was back in season 0, The r301 and r99 were put back to their original specs, the mastiff and peacekeeper have switched places, And the only thing in a pro eSports team is Wraith gibby and caustic or wraith Bloodhound and caustic(or replace caustic with wattson) it’s really fun I’ve been enjoying my time in season 5 and so have my friends, I’ve played since day one,(I didn’t play the game much through seasons 2-3, I played some of season 4 but not a lot) and too me it’s better then it’s release just without bunny hopping healing. But just don’t hate on Apex because that’s gone, I played Tf2 for a number of years as well and honestly bhopping from the pros I’ve seen was rare, It was mostly rocket, or sticky jumping, I was a sniper/spy main because I just did good with those characters(lost my pc so sadly I cannot play tf2 anymore)(I play apex through my Xbox one and just enjoyed it these are just my opinions about apex)
Eyeless_Gaming yeah and where you said play with friends that’s something pros don’t do and leads to them getting bored thus why they quit. I honestly think that’s stupid that streamers say a game is boring because they have no one to play with. That’s just a sad sad opinion. Aceu is a good example of this. Go watch his season 4 vids and you will see that he hardly even played with anyone he knew. He said the game is boring. Friends make everything better.

If people get bored of apex thats probably because they’ve played the game religiously for the past two seasons and got bored of it like I did with cod mw season 3 and the newly released season 4, the game itself is boring and war zone sucks. Honestly, Did you read what I said? (Freinds make games better knowing who you play with is an advantage, I play with friends rarely because mine aren’t that good at apex and I just have better luck in ranked lobby’s instead of playing with friends in ranked, Also it’s sadder that you had to take 5 minutes out of your time to say my opinion is bad and then you lay me yours, I will say, Yours is good, but it’s sad on your end that you have to come over here and say mines sad.

I played since season 0 and it sucks now meta is boring and thier is nothing to grind for if I was you don’t spend money on this game
