Why Blitz Bowl still isn't available outside of Barnes and Noble (and yes, in Germany if you want the german version) is mind-blowing.

It's beyond messed up at this point. The worst part is GW refuses to talk about why America and Barnes & Noble get exclusivity on it. Does Barnes & Noble own the Bltiz Bowl IP or can other distributers use it? It's such a great game and a perfect gateway game and it's weird that GW would limit themselves this way.
As is, Barnes & Noble doesn't promote it at all in stores or online. The game is usually buried on the bottom shelf in the game section. Meanwhile they push all sorts of trash on the shoppers.
It's such a great game that I'm sure would be huge if GW opened up its sales around the world.

@@Nardio It's my understanding that B&N puts up some of the production costs, in order to keep it a B&N exclusive ... at least this is what I have heard from the Battletech community, in regards to some of the battletech B&N exclusives, my leap of logic is that there is probably a similar arrangement with GW for Blitz Bowl ... it is still confounding, becuase I believe B&N has some partnerships in the UK and why cut off a potential audience?

Shameless plug: There are some 'blank' neoprene Blitz Bowl pitches on inked gaming, so you can arrange the field layout however you want, even with custom layouts ... if you're unable to track down all existing boards. I am also working on updating the Ball cards for ultimate addition, as well as bringing back some of my old house rules, like refs and staff.

I'm outside right now so I can't check. Shoot me an email with the links. I'd like to get a Blitz Bowl section up on my website that collects all of the resources for new players and folks coming back to the game.

I've actually never heard of blitzbowl, but this sounds much more appealing. Sounds like a low stakes way to have a game to play with more casual friends

Dude, get it. It's like a skirmish game and football mixed together with a touch of fantasy thrown in. The teams are small so you don't need to spend a lot of time painting them up. You can have fun games in as little as 20 minutes. Blitz Bowl Ultimate Edition is bonkers good.
Check out our Chaos Dwarfs vs Beastmen vid to see how a fast little game can go.

It's basically what I've always wanted Blood Bowl to be. I love the idea of blood bowl but the rues for Blood Bowl are not super approachable ... this game is super approachable, because even non-gamers understand the concept of 'get the ball to the other end' I've had friends, relatives, coworkers play this that would absolutely NOT play anything outside of Monopoly/etc.

I'm disappointed this year that the small box offerings from GW have been underwhelming. I was expecting more from Space Marine, and I was hoping the Warcry starter set would be a better price for what's in the box. the Underworld's starter set is rehashing old warbands again. Hopefully the new Combat Arena does something cool with the minis. GW has given us quite a bit free stuff that's really good for the core games, I just want a little love for the boxed stuff.

By the gods don't get me started on that Warcry mess. I was thinking about doing a video on it but I don't wanna end up sounding like those constantly negative UA-camrs.
For the life of me I don't understand why they didn't turn that into Bladeborn 2.0 and make another season of that. The added terrain and those minis would have made a great bookshelf game and a ridiculous intro for new players. Price that at $50 and it would have been sensational.
Part of me, a SMALL part of me is considering getting it and playing through it on stream and then doing a review. It would be Awsome if the Warcry starter set was a good stand alone skirmish game, but ugh... That price for two not even full Warbands feels like a waste.
      Blah....
I'm honestly not hopeful for combat arena. I just hope we get Fireteam 2.0 next year and it's amazing.

@@Nardio I'm surprised there's no extra material for Bladeborn or Fireteam on Warhammer Community or White Dwarf. Just an article or some printable rules, just to give those games some life. I wonder if they suffer since they're only U.S. games for the most part?
The Warcry set is really the biggest misstep. I get that Underworlds Warbands are about $40 and you get two of them and the board and terrain, but there's no way it's in the same league material-wise as the $110 40k Starter Set. At $80 if it was $80ish, I'd have an easier time parting with money, especially to get me into the game.
Rethinking Space Marine: The Board Game, I wonder if it's just a soft expansion to add on to the starter sets or Leviathan? The minis seem to complement those sets better than being a stand alone game.
And I know you have opinions on these games, but I never take it as negative. You often give an alternative opinion as well and you've never been as bad as others that are nonstop doom and gloom.
