Maintenance matters… It can definitely extend the life of any piece of equipment.
    Thanks for sharing

Thanks Jerry. Would you recommend this as a twice a year chore; just before it goes in the water and then after it's back up on shore for winter?

I would recommend doing it once a year early spring before the lift is installed. Thank you for watching!

My grand dad invented golden boat lifts. I have been working with them for 20 years. We are based out of ft. Myers. Golden lifts are the premier lifts we sell here in Florida. I have never been asked or seen anyone grease the cables. I see them last over 10 years down here without any grease on them. Plus it makes it dirty and salt stick to it better. Wife will be getting grease on her dress. Kids will have it on their hands lol if you grab cable your gonna slip off. It’s just funny to see a freshwater person recommend greasing cables when y’all have little to no corrosion in your environment compared to us. I would not recommend this. Neither does any of our engineers. Definitely grease the pullys and the worm gear if you have that style.

Check for stray current if your cables are dissolving. That would be a wiring issue

I would *really* be interested in knowing how your wife's dress comes in contact with a boat lift cable. In addition to that, the only time I have seen a woman wearing a dress in and around a boat was out of a Chris Craft magazine ad of the 1950s.... Appreciate the vid, Jerry.

My wheel when lifting doesn't click like yours. Is it because it lifts when I turn counter clock wise and it drops when going clock wise ?

Right should lift left shoulder lower. It sounds like your cable might have back wound. Basically the cable wrapped itself around backwards
