Great idea, thanks for sharing. I've been using these blink cameras for a few years now. I just got into back yard birding. I can't wait to set 1 up to bird watch.
Yeah I have found that I use my Blink Cameras more for Bird Watching than for security these days ;). These clamps are a pretty good investment if looking to put the camera on a bird pole or bird bath: ua-cam.com/video/d__8PcgqYYs/v-deo.html - Best wishes to you for 2023!
Thank you for sharing! I've been using a game/trail camera, but cannot see the angle or focus or anything ... until I take it back down. I love the features of your Blink XLT! The birds at your feeder and bird bath are amazing! So much variety. The racoon was cute, too. :)
Hi, thanks for this video btw. How do u find the trigger time? Does it activate as soon as a bird is detected? I keep reading mixed things when it comes to being activated
They have a subscription and non subscription option. I think the subscription one just gives you more cloud storage. I have never used the subscription, I just do the free service. It does everything I need. . . I get camera notifications on my phone. . . the videos stay in the app/cloud as long as I want. I can download them to my phone if I want, and I have plenty of free storage. Currently I have 150 videos in my blink app and am using 24% of my storage. Try them, don't do the subscription. . . you will love them. Hope this help.
Great video. Couple questions, what format are the videos recorded? And can videos be downloaded to UA-cam? And do you have to pay for subscription to store videos?
Hi there, thanks for the nice comment. The video files are in standard .mp4 format so they can easily be loaded to UA-cam. No subscription cost so it is totally free other than the cost of the cameras. Hope this helps!
Hi, great video. 2 Questions: did you start the recordings or allow the camera to use motion detection? If the latter, How responsive is it to the bird’s motion? Again, thank you for a great video and thank you for leaving the bottom portion of the cut tree. 🦉❤
Hi there, with my blink cameras I let the camera use motion detection. The only time I will start the recording is if I have them in a bird house and want to check on it. For birdbaths, feeders, etc. I just use motion detection. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
@@JUMBLE2015 Hi it does help thank you. I did purchase two blink cameras and I’ve been playing around with them. I live in the Northeast and right now I’m just inundated with grackles so I don’t really have very many interesting birds I have a few but I am getting a lot of grackles that are coming in for their breeding season. Thank you for responding to me. Happy birding
Hi Gwen, here is a link to my bird bath. I think there are several different sites that sell it, but I got it on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Best-Choice-Products-Outdoor-Pedestal/dp/B079GGKXD8
Photo Software can fix that. I have 6 Blink cameras used for birds, 4 inside of boxes, 1 I can move around when I know babies will be fledgling, so I can capture from the outside view, 1 inside my she shed, and a new one to move around to feeders and birdbaths. Now that I see the trick of hanging it on a Shepards hook pole, I'll have to find a magnet to place on the pole, thanks for the idea.
Hi, this model has been discontinued by Blink. They have a new model out (but should work the same if not better than the one in this video). Yes I have the Sync module. You have to have that in order to use the Blink cameras (one module only is required. Hope that helps but if you have other question let me know.
It is very good. You can definitely hear the birds. The newest Blink camera also have two way audio as well. So if the neighbors cat is on your birdbath you can scare it off :).
Great overview of the camera! This is what we use as well. I love the clips you added at the end!

Came across this while looking for security cameras for my backyard. Got a Ring doorbell in front. May have to try this for my bird feeder. Thanks

Great video with exactly the info I've been needing. Appreciate it!
Glad the video helped, Happy Holidays!
I need to get me one of these for my feeders! Thanks for sharing

Does blink have to have a subscription to record and view videos?

Which quality footage do you use for the birds? Thanks for all your video.
I use "Best" as the video quality.

Well done. Thank you.
I love that idea where did you get the magnets. And where did you get the hook? I have a blink but I didn’t get a clip
I’d love to know where you got the magnets too!

Very helpful; thank you!
Glad it helped, thanks for the nice comment.
Love your bird bath! Where can I find one like that and what is the name and model?

Is it possible to remove the fisheye effect? So it doesn't have that slight curvature at the edges?
Photo Software can fix that. I have 6 Blink cameras used for birds, 4 inside of boxes, 1 I can move around when I know babies will be fledgling, so I can capture from the outside view, 1 inside my she shed, and a new one to move around to feeders and birdbaths.

I have no cell-phone, so how would I get what I record into my PC?
If you don't have a cell phone you would not want a Blink Camera, you would do better with a traditional trail camera with SD card you can pull.
Thank You!
I've not been able to find this camera via your link or Amazon. Also, do you use the Blink Sync Module?
Hi, this model has been discontinued by Blink. They have a new model out (but should work the same if not better than the one in this video). Yes I have the Sync module. never mind. I have a clip, it came with the camera I just forgot about it
Thank you
How is the sound quality? Can you hear the birds?
It is very good. You can definitely hear the birds. The newest Blink camera also have two way audio as well. So if the neighbors cat is on your birdbath you can scare it off :).
Thank you,
How long the battery lasts?
On my bird bath or feeder, 2 batteries last about 1 year.
Haha the raccoon 🦝
