Not gonna lie, Rachel Weeks might be my all-time favourite EDH personality. Every game I've seen her in looks like a blast! :D Love the show, keep it all coming!
On Chaos Warp: your commander can go to the command zone and you'd still flip off the top, but you still have to shuffle your deck. The reason is that you'll resolve the Chaos Warp moving the commander shuffle it in, but since the tuck rule doesn't exist anymore, you can choose to put it in your command zone instead.
26:52 The mana can be floated since the copy resolves and the token enters the battlefield before the nontoken one does. The state-based action is only once both are on the battlefield.
I am only a few minutes in, but the amount of fun Olivia is having with an absolutely sadistic first turn is just the best thing, I'm laughing as hard as she is!
Doesn't matter here, but: Damage against players isn't dealt one by one. The Gnawbone would deal its total amount, even though the defending player would have died at 17. This matters in case there was some effect modifying the damage, like deflecting palm.
This would be different if there were multiple triggers or first strike damage. But combat damage is dealt all at once for each first strike and then normal.
Also, Deflecting Palm isn't a modification to damage, it's a replacement effect of to who the damage is dealt. A damage modification would be like Torbran (increases the damage +2) or Battletide Alchemist ("prevent the next X damage").
@@isaiahwelch8066 Correct. I used "modify" to signify that there was an effect on the damage (source, target, amount, or so forth) rather than the rules term, which I probably shouldn't have done.
This episode was so good, I came back to watch it a third time, lol. Also, the name of this episode should have been: "Attack of the Flappy Bacon." Make it sound like a cheesy 1950s horror flick.😂😂😂
@33:00 yes, the Boo tokens made by Minsc, Beloved Ranger, and Minsc and Boo, Timeless Heroes are the same. 1/1 red Legendary Hamster Creature named Boo with Trample and Haste.
Hey CGB, I am a subscriber and also have been watching your commander videos over the last few months. Ben, Blake and Shea are fantastic cast members, you will get the views. Doing a great job just like Alias and Olivia are. Appreciate you all, much love from Australia
This game was really good, but it would have been more exciting if all 4 decks were at the same level. A precon with no upgrades just doesn't match the rest of the table even if it's got some decent cards. I think trying to get a little more balance between decks would improve the games a lot.
On the other hand, it’s worth considering that gameplay like this demonstrates that, while stock precons clearly do not perform with the same power and smoothness of more highly tuned decks where a single card(s) cost more than the whole precon, precons these days are built well enough to allow someone to sit down at a table with friends and fully participate in a game, dealing damage and playing threats that opponents need to respond to. And that’s pretty awesome all in its own right.
I encourage everything (especially in the UK on magic madhouse) to buy the precon exit from exile that thing beats good non precon commander decks out of the box it's ridiculous what that thing can do
The bling in Olivia's deck is making me a proud Breya player and a bit jealous. Represent us artifact players Olivia! I'll catch up eventually with my shinies.

@@remembertobreathe66 I personally consider cEDH its own format entirely and therefore consider a 10 still part of the 0-10 casual scale, but I pretty much agree with your assessment that it's BS that so many people claim that their 8-9 power deck is a 7. I also understand what you mean with "practice levels for cEDH", but that term can be a bit misleading because decks can still go in a different direction at that power level (not running cards like Flusterstorm or Swan Song in favor of 4 mana wraths and the like).

Fun game, love the CGB(RG) and Rachel Weeks tandem of guests. My pet deck is Hofri the Ghostforge. You can go etb and sac to get more triggers with the new copies, or go mean an d steal your opponents good stuff and sac or fling to get their good stuff while denying it to them. Love to see you all build it and try it.
Just a quick rules clarification, CGB would have gotten 18 treasures off Rachel even though she only had 17 life. You can deal damage in excess of what a player has remaining, that rule was being confused with the rule on *paying* life which states you cannot pay life which you do not have.
Not to mention that every other creature that did combat damage to a player would have triggered Old Gnawbone *and* he never rolled a D20 for Ancient Copper Dragon! So much treasure that never got made and was also completely unnecessary. 😂
Now that is exactly the kind of commander deck I like to see and play, lot of fun interactions and plays, but nothing too gross or broken that kill the game too quickly; everyone's deck got a chance to show what they do and mount a credible threat, the precon deck a bit less but it is a precon. And having 4 cool players and seeing you all having fun was cherry on top! Ps: I once had a smothering tithe on the board and a friend played wheel and couldn't get any good draw and wheeled the table 3 times in a row. It was such a weird way of winning to suddenly have all the mana. Smothering tithe and wheel is hillarious.
1:38:00 It changes zones to the library, which satisfies chaos warp then it can go to the command zone if you desire and chaos warp still goes off. Alias was still supposed to shuffle before revealing, not sure if she did.
My pet deck is Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant. It's perfect for this style of commander, too. Use vigilance-granting affects like Reconnaissance and Angelic Field Marshal, and your shields are perfect. Pillowfort cards and stuff like Palisade Giant add defensive layers. Use underrated white gems like Soltari Visionary and Fountain Watch. Create lots of 1/1 tokens - they don't die! Just lean into artifacts for ramp and card draw (Slate of ancestry pulls its weight). There's also a ton of wraths that will be one-sided, like Wave of Reckoning and Mass Calcify. The deck is fun and unique, and was holding its own even before WotC recently pushed white. And winning with Commander's worst color is a great feeling.
That is no way to treat those amazingly powerful dragons CGB! They where loyal and served you well and you FLUNG them at peoples faces!! LOL GG Epic start with Olivia. My pet deck would have to be rainbow boys Kynaios and Tiro.. Group hug is honestly a lot of fun (to me) and with the way I build it it typically ensures everyone gets to play their deck and have a ..good.. time? Maybe lol Doing silly things like Fractured Identity on your own Heartbeat of Spring to get triple mana then play Approach of the Second Sun and draw it and play it again in the same turn with the likes of Folio of Fancies.. Yep. Silly but wild stuff. Defo recommend trying group hug strategies.
Really great game so far, lot of fun. Also, you guys really should watch The worst possible commander show, they go hard without going crazy with the decks and the banter is really good. Highly suggest!
Another great case of Alias brings a knife to a nuclear bomb fight 🤣 just remember folks, hit the things that make the dings and go follow our hosts and friends on all the social media
If I'm not mistaken, if you command zone with Chaos Warp, you still have to shuffle before revealing the card. Could be wrong but that's how I've been told it works :)
Loved the game as always! Keep up the great work :D My pet deck is Sydri Vehicles, has some silly combos that cheat the crew cost while not really being overpowered at all. My partner hates Esper decks as a rule but she loves playing against Sydri because it's just a completely different playstyle. (Also: it was hella cheap to put together)
My Labor of Love deck is my Elsha of the Infinite Spellslinger deck. It was my very first Commander deck and I have steadily modified it over the past three or so years. I love stringing together long groups of cards cast off the top of the deck. I actually depowered it a little by taking out God-Eternal Kefnet so he can't work together with Scroll Rack and Expropriate for an infinite string of turns (unsatisfying slog of a win every time).
My favorite random deck: Experiment Kraj is my commander, Ave the deck is all about counters, particularly +1/+1 counters. My most recent Jann build is a mono-blue deck with partner Siani, Eye of the Storm and Eligeth, Crossroads Augur. At least 25 cards in the deck Scry, and Eligeth says Scry=Draw!
Interesting rule about Chaos Warp and the command zone, you do still reveal from the top if the target goes to the command zone instead of getting shuffled in, BUT the targeted (permanents) player is still supposed to shuffle their deck before they reveal, so no brainstorming in response to Warp to stack something sweet on top.
Here's a fun deck idea: Sisay, Weatherlight Captain, as your Commander. However, the caveat is you have to include all of the Dominaria legends, like Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist; Hanna, Ship's Navigator; Tiana, Ship's Caretaker, and Shanna, Sisay's Legacy. Also, the one Vehicle you have to use is the Weatherlight ship with Crew 4. I would say to use only legendary nonland permanents, only because I want to see Urza's Ruinous Blast exile everything non-legendary. Other than that, have some fun with this one! I've been thinking about this deck for a bit, but I've never seen anyone build this deck.
Eili, I feel like you need to channel your inner Gruul mage and build a stronk Ruric Thar deck that punishes all the shenanigans that your opponents tend to get up to. Run some efficient stompy creatures and creature ramp along with some lifelink for Ruric so you can still cast your awesome green card draw/protection spells to keep your board presence and just run over the table. It seems like something you would enjoy running.
It’s notCovertGoBlue and neither CovertGoWhite. It’s CovertGoBoo ;) This was one of the most fun games to watch, what a great atmosphere! I wish my playgroup could keep it that cool all the time ;)
cards in Europe are generally cheaper to buy than in America. At least if you look online, so it does not surprise me Olivia found those cheap in Europe on her trip here. since boo is a legendary character, the token should be the same, so you would not get 2 if you also played the other one, I'm pretty sure. Austere Command has been an awesome staple for many many years in decks with white, but I think it is finally outclassed by "Farewell" which is the same CMC (4WW) and it says "choose one or more: EXILE all artifacts, exile all creatures, exile all enchantments, exile all graveyards". So you obliterate absolutely everything except planeswalkers and lands and nuke the graveyard too. So it is a superior card. so I finally replaced both my Austere commands with 2 Farewells :) I only run it in 2 decks, maybe I should have it in more, but my other deck that runs white usually has the most cretures so I don't run many boardwipes there, but maybe I will add it later. If you chaos warp a commander, you just put it in the CZ and shuffle your library and reveal the top card. so you did it correctly, except you didn't shuffle, so you should have shuffled first I believe and then reveal. I could be wrong, but I believe thats how it works, because normally, you chaos warp something in, then you shuffle and you have a chance to get the same card out again. 1:38:50 I believe Rachel is wrong here. CGB should gain life equal to the power of the creature dealing the damage, not her life total. so if its a 20 power creature with lifelink, you gain 20 life, no matter what life total the opponent has that is receiving the damage. Life drain, however, can only drain what life you have. so if its a creature that said opponents lose life and you gain that much, you can't gain more than the life they had. my favourite deck is The Locust God. it is a combo deck that makes infinite insects with haste pretty effectively. I don't know if I am able to link my deck list here, so I won't until you say it's ok. but the gist of the deck is not to play wheels. you do curiosity combo lines. for example, curiosity + Glint-horn buccaneer with more than 7 cards in hand kills the table on your end step. So you cast glint horn, cast curiosity on it and attack and deal damage to someone, you then draw a card, you can then use it's ability to discard a card and he will deal 1 damage to each player, you can do this after damage, because it is still considered attacking, which then draws you 3 cards because of curiosity. you see where this is going right? if you then have 8 or more cards in hand, you move to discard and discard to hand size, this triggers glinthorn again and again until all opponents are dead. there is a 1 card combo with the commander too. With The Locust God out, you cast "Sage of the falls". it's a merfolk wizard that says when a non-human enters the battlefield under your control, you may draw a card, if you do, discard a card, then he enters, he is non-human, so you draw, this triggers the locust god to give you a locust, which triggers the sage for you to draw... and you see where this is going again right? you draw and discard infinitely (as much as you want), you then have an eldrazi titan (Ulamog the infinite gyre or Kozilek butcher of truth) in the deck, that reshuffles your graveyard back in, so you get infinite locusts with haste. These are just 2 of my combos. if you would like the deck list, let me know and I'll link it.
Pet decks eh? For me, that certainly has to be my Saga-focused Muldrotha pile. Hex Parasite, Power Conduit, Inexorable Tide and Evolution Sage (among others) to mess around with Saga counters, looping Phyrexian Scriptures, The Eldest Reborn, Behold the Unspeakable, Kiora Bests the Sea God, Trickster-God's Heist (trade a Saga with its final chapter on the stack!)... Big grindy value. It it so enjoyable to hold seven creatures tapped down with a single Time of Ice, lemme tell ya. It's a deck that is constantly changing too, there's far too many sweet cards and Saga tricks to keep just a fixed list. A little slow to set up, but tricky to get rid of when it's online. The Mirari Conjecture is great at keeping a Counterspell on hand.
You’d actually gain the full from old gnawbone because a player goes negative/does receive the full amount damage, death of player doesn’t negate cards’ ability

My Ur-Dragon is my pet deck I would say :D just all the big, chunky dragons and so much flavour!
CGB regretting his decision the whole time is the most hilarious thing about this.
Great game! My "pet" deck is feather, the redeemed... not completely voltron, runs a ton of instants, fun stuff!
Rachel earns cool points for playing Chaos Wand.
I've been eyeballing it, myself.
The possibilities.
I have a gambling problem I think haha
Blood feud w/ a Hamster...yup that checks out for Olivia
Oliva's luck is just of the charts! We need to see Oliva mana screwd just once!!!! :D unbelievable
Chaos warp does still work even if you don't shuffle anything into your library. What a way to end the game!!
You still shuffle even if you added nothing in.
You can float the mox mana as the copy and original enter at different times. So free mana is free.
Ali playing my new favourite commander!!
Covertgoblue? More like Covert:"GO BOO!!"
Olivia, you can tap the real mox opal, sac it and keep the copy :)
Great show as always!
Pet Deck: Hazoret, the Fervent
It’s notCovertGoBlue and neither CovertGoWhite. It’s CovertGoBoo ;) This was one of the most fun games to watch, what a great atmosphere! I wish my playgroup could keep it that cool all the time ;)
Olivia single-handedly just made the best argument I’ve seen for banning mana rocks in commander 😂
cards in Europe are generally cheaper to buy than in America.
Hey!! I got to watch Rachel play her deck in Indianapolis. I can't wait to see more gameplay of this very fun deck!! :D
Ms.Rachel! Living proof that reading books is FUNDAMENTAL! 🤣
Yay they’re back!! Love you gals!
You’d actually gain the full from old gnawbone because a player goes negative/does receive the full amount damage, death of player doesn’t negate cards’ ability
I see cgb in his own show "please let everyone kill this guy". I see him as a guest "go oneinbestofone!"
CGB's worst possible commander show is definitely worth adding to your watch-list, all. Great cast of people displaying many diverse playstyles.
Wowza yowza that opening hand from Olivia
CGB commander show is actually amazing
