- In this episode of Riichi Mahjong Guide, we cover another couple of yakuman, suu ankou and suu kantsu, as well as the rare yaku, san kantsu.

There is also an (optional?) rule about the max number of kans that can happen in the game. If there are four kans on the table and they are not by the same player, the game ends in draw after the player who called last kan discards a tile. If the four kans are by the same player, the game continues to give them a chance to win. But if a fifth kan is called (which must be by another player), the game ends in draw.
I got a Suu Ankou recently in friendlies. I declared Riichi like you said to push my luck to get the final tile. I got it during my ippatsu turn. Sadly I don't get the bonus from either Riichi nor the Ippatsu.

Does san kantsu count as toitoi if you have another triplet? Or i should say, do kans also satisfy triplet yaku?
Yes, kantsu are also treated as triplets for the purposes of yaku like toitoi and such.

Not really a question about the video so much as the series as a whole, because I tried this out on a video game and it didn't work. To win a hand you need a yaku and a hand divided into pairs, triplets, quads and sequences? Most yaku require a division of 4 tris and 1 pair, but the yaku: yakuhai, riichi, menzen tsumo, rinshankaihou, chankan, haitei raoyue, and houtei raoyue count as yaku on their own, regardless of other yaku. Does that mean that for the rest of your hand you can have any combination of pairs, triplets, quads and sequences you want? For instance, could you have a yakuhai triplet, a sequence, four pairs, simples and terminals not matching suits, and win?
No, yaku is only one of the two requirements for winning a hand. The other requirement is the shape of a winning hand, which is usually four sets (which can be any combinations of sequences, triplets, and quads), and a pair. The only other two winning hand shapes are chiitoitsu (seven pairs) and kokushi musou.
So if you don't have a yaku you still have to have the hand shape of 4 triplets and a pair. Do kans count as the triplets of the hand in this case? @@LightGrunty
If you have the shape of a winning hand that just needs one more tile to win, that hand is "tenpai". In order to actually win the hand when the winning tile comes out, you would need at least one yaku.
With regards to the shape of a hand, a kan is essentially a triplet. With regards to scoring, they are a little different. Some yaku, like san kantsu, specifically require kans. A kan is also worth more fu. Other than that, a kan can be treated as a triplet.

Can sankantsu combine with toitoi and sanankou?
Yes, it is possible to get all of those yaku together.
