Love the honesty here…I’ve had moments where I’ve been in love with a particular product but fell out once I’ve used it in certain situation and it just fall short.
The Ape Labs cans really disappointed me. They just don't put off enough of a foot print for me. I shoulda got the Maxis or just some "regular" uplights instead.
Interesting to hear this. I’ve considered buying some of them because my 6x18 lights are big and heavy. They are awesome but 10x in the charging case isn’t fun. Might go with soft cases or considering a 1x light.
@@kellyaustin7487 I think compared to other battery operated uplighting, they are still competitive with the pricing. They are durable, easy to use and have a small footprint. I can fit 6 maxis in a small, light bag. For me, I'm good paying extra for that
I totally understand and agree with the lights. There’s a time and a place for blinkies and movers. Because I just bought 2 Bose sp1 pros, I’m going to keep them for my standard 3 years (I run everything for 3 years, then it’s gone) but yes I do like what I’m seeing from the Everse 8. As for upgrades…. That booth… killer . Max FTW
Small parties for sure they’re great, I think they’re better suited for live musicians too. Once I got the Bose 32s, I take one of those to my small parties now. You got those too right?
One of the few things I disagreed with you was the gigbar move. I just went with uplights on soundswitch and love it. My uplights are big and heavy but look great. I have a couple cheap led mover washes for big weddings on totems but rarely bring those out.
For me: I bought some wash sticks similar to Astera. I now use them for my photo booth but nothing else. I didn’t like the look and thought the uplights alone were better. My booth I have 3 - ADJ table clone, Rockville (original size) and a Cedarslink Beast-A. It’s a Rockville clone but aluminum and wider (53”) with corner shelves. It’s now my go to. The ADJ clone is gone and keeping the Rockville as a backup. Great table but doesn’t fit my Prime4. I bought many mikes but my go to is a Phenyx Pro PTU-1U. I got a Sennheiser but haven’t felt the need to get it out. This has been an excellent mic. I had it cutout once but was far away, not line of sight, and realized after the batteries were a little low so can’t fault it for that. I just did a gig where it was over 100ft away with a crowd standing between the receiver and the mic and had no issues at all. I haven’t sold my Bose S1 Pros yet. But likely will soon. My recent gig both batteries were dead in the cold and that wasn’t fun.
@@AaronStrawn My first mic set was the PTU-71 dual mics. I was quite happy with them but I didn’t do weddings then. I bought the PTU-1U and it’s pretty good. Range tested it made 400ft down my street without dropping out where the 71 cut out around 200ft. I got the Sennheiser EW-D for remote speakers then bought the mic for it. The mic alone cost more than the whole Phenyx system. I also got a long range antenna kit but haven’t used it yet. I’m sure the Sennheiser is better than Phenyx Pro but it’s a damn good entry level priced system.
Over the years I've purchased the following mostly based on your recommendation: GigBar Move 👎 ProX XF-VISTA MK2 👍 RCF J8 👍 QSC touchmix 8 👍 So you're 3 out of 4 in my book 😬
OK so quick question, the Bose L1 pro 32 with the sub2 do you still like them ?and I noticed you said you had the tone-match, does that make a difference?because I own them and I’m not really digging the sound, something is missing…like to hear your input!
I do. In fact, my last wedding I used one stick with 2 Sub 2s and THAT is the way to go. I was really happy with the sound and bass output using the 2 subs. Never hit the red light either. For the mixer- I use the Touchmix 8 now and LOVE it.
I was intrigued by the J8. Plus it had the 8 channel mixer. Bought this before EV dropped the 50m. I'm very happy having played with the 50. I love the J8s
watched this vlog and told my wife that you got rid of the Bose S1 so you can spend another $400 to buy the Everse. She agreed like me that you are fucked up priority-wise. That $400 bucks could have gone to your daughter's college fund. Fuck it that the Bose wasn't loud enough, its not a party speaker, its some dumb ass ceremony speaker. However I agree with you about the 30M's, they are a waste of money only good for cocktail hour.
@Jaden its a better show though. Up lights and sticks are like 2009. We moved on or maybe most havent moved on. How long can you enjoy up lights blinking around the room before you lose interest. If you want to do something good, then get video screen panels and build a small wall of visual effects. I'm a fan of resorts---mainly Disney and Universal. They are always changing up their visuals because people just get bored seeing the same things. Same as with up lights. If 99% of wedding djs used up light that blink to the music, how unique are you?
@Jaden trash? the Blizzard was $649, the ADJ was $799 and the Jolt was $479. Its not a Chauvet Swarm or anything like that. It doesnt have any little dots, they are scanners. Show me a vlog of your lights pal...i actually dont think you DJ, i saw your page, theres nothing on it
@@WWeiss-nv5vz Well, that's the thing I wrestle with each event. I play a lot of the same venues so I can take that into account. I did a wedding for 150 two weeks ago with one Bose 32 and 2 Sub2s. It was AMAZING. And the way to go. That setup is as good, if not better than 2 J8s (imo)

Looking forward to all the new stuff I know you'll be buying too lol!
Good points here. I use the gig bar at outdoor events and small parties, kid's parties (not weddings).
Perfect for those gigs
Big fan of Rockville honestly. I couldn't afford Ape Labs so I bought some Rockville wedges, love em!
May be rocking with Rockville for a while 😁
I've seen them and they're cool. I just love the simplicity and small design of the Ape Labs.
@AaronStrawn don't get me wrong I will get me some ape labs eventually 😁

I agree. Also sold my cans for the same reason. The Maxis are the only true Uplights they offer
Ape products are simply overpriced. Good uplighting product's but ridiculously overpriced.

Sennheiser wireless body packs, NOT cheap but a real solution to make pa wireless with no drop or delay.

Do you still sell your playlists on ETSY? What format will they download as? Thank you sir! Cheers!
Yep! They are PDFs. I've got a bunch of new ones I'm gonna drop soon too!
Can you give link to the mat you use to cover the wires on the ground?
They are stair mats that I found at Home Depot
