    I would love to purchase this but I need to be able to run a graphics/playback pc into the switcher, as well as a presenters pc, while also having 3 inputs left for cameras. Just one hdmi input short.
    This has a lot of awesome features that the ATEM doesn’t have. Hopefully a similar model will be released with a couple more inputs.

    I purchased the V1-SDI today. Also three HDMI-to-SDI converters because I'll be using three Panasonic AG-AC90 cameras that only have HDMI out (also component out).
    I am quite impressed with all the features in this new switcher, particularly the DSK (freeing up the PST/PGM bus), and the scalable HDMI input #4.
    What I would like to see (hint, hint) is tally light triggers with the inputs. Many of today's lower priced hardware & software switchers fail to offer that little feature :( I'd be happy with a set of N.O. contacts that I could run 5vdc through on an extra wire along my camera cable, illuminating a led widget on top of each camera.
    That said, I am anxiously looking forward to my Roland V1-SDI (arriving this Thu), and hope the HDMI to SDI converters suffice.

      I have everything up and running tonight; the new V-1SDI switcher, cameras, laptop PC (graphics and video playback) into "scaling" HDMI input #4 and have been messing around with it for the past four hours. There are not enough positive adjectives in the dictionary to describe how pleased I am with this little powerhouse of a switcher. All the setup and audio menus make it into a customized wonder.
      Anyhow, you (Richard) had asked what I'm using to convert HDMI (from my cameras) to SDI (switcher inputs): They are Excelvan 1080P Mini 3G HDMI to SDI Video Converters. I purchased them on Amazon for about $38.00 each (yes, 38 bucks). They pass full 1080P and audio from the HDMI output (running each camera on 25 Feet of HDMI to the SDI cable (another 50 feet) and into the switcher. I have typical no frills monitors for the multiview PST's and PGM. However, I'm also outputting SDI to a "Blackmagic Video Assist with HDMI and 6G-SDI" Recorder which provides a pristeen 1080P picture, and I cannot see any signal loss or noise as a result of those "inexpensive HDMI/SDI converters.
      Plus, I got a little inventive and made battery packs for the Excelvan converters, which operate on 5-12vdc. I put a little NP F550 7.5vdc battery in an adapter base plate (all from Amazon) and strapped one to each of the Excelvans. That way I don't need to run AC to the AC adapters that normally power the Excelvans. The batteries are still powering the Excelvans as I write... and it's been three hours so far. My camera batteries will croak before these things do.

      Per your question, RIchard, I'm using the V1-SDI for remote/mobile 3-cam, etc., shoots, recording on the Blackmagic SD card, as well as separately on all three cameras so I can post "tweaks" later.

After an hour the switcher stuck (all LEDs still on) but no output receive by the monitor & cant even switch or control any button. Is it because of the overheating issue? After switch it off n try if for anther 1 hours + it stuck again. Hope can hear real event test on this device. Tq Donovan :)

    what is the difference with V-1HD with this model?

    • @Varvid
      @Varvid  7 років тому

      The V1 HD only has HDMI ports, while the V1 SDI has SDI/BNC ports which allows for longer cable runs without having to convert HDMI to SDI like you would with the V1 HD.

    Can the SDI channel 1/2 accept analog SD SDI signal? We have PDW-510 which outputs analog SDI signals as well as PMW-200 which has HD-SDI output. We would then use 2 computer sources via HDMI ch 3/4
    If it can't, are there any adapters out there to convert the signal? This device would serve our needs perfectly.
    Many thanks in advance!

    • @Grizzly01
      @Grizzly01 6 років тому

      Guys, there's no such thing as an analog SDI signal. SDI is digital. Are you confusing it with composite video/PAL/NTSC? That is analog standard definition.

    • @Varvid

      Hey Brian, unfortunately the PGM indicator is baked in to the image and cannot be removed on the HDMI PG output. If you are trying to get an HDMI signal of the PGM out, you'll need to use an SDI to HDMI converter like the DECIMATOR MD-LX HDMI/SDI Bi-Directional Converter to convert your SDI PGM to HDMI.

    why dont Roland come out with this together with the previous model v1-hd? It's kinda sux when i've gotten v1-hd few months ago only and also sdi to hdmi converter because i'm running mainly sdi cameras. Now Roland come out with SDI model which I would have gotten if it's available at that time! For DSK, why not allow us to save the logo into the system instead of relying on a laptop and sacrifice a port.

    • @AaronBookerPersonal

      Kenny Shem - maybe you could trade with the previous poster... in all seriousness, it sucks to buy so.ething and then have something better suited come along soon after. Happened to us too & we are a dealer! On the other hand I'm glad to have more activity from Roland in this space. Pretty exciting.

    • @shem44
      @shem44 7 років тому +1

      Aaron Booker Yes. Many times it does not pay to be an early adopter unless the product suits your needs perfectly. Unfortunately it does not happen most of the time. It's good that Roland comes out with this "pro" version as the previous v1-hd seems to cater more to musicians and personal use. This V1-SDI is much more suitable for professional production.

    Is there any data being generated on the RS232 port that can be translated into Talley light signal usage. If so where would I find that information. That’s the only feature this switcher is missing.

      Yes you can build a micro controller to take I. The rs232 and pick out the data for active channels. But the easiest fix is to pick the logics up that goto the switch led and feed an optical for your tally logics

    • @hackbattlefield7677
      @hackbattlefield7677 3 роки тому

      @@rick601a The easy fix would mean I have to open the videomixer right? For me that is not an option since I borrow it and it is not mine. Do you have any schematics of the RS232 solution?

    • @rick601a
      @rick601a 3 роки тому

      I started looking at the serial data but found out it was going to cost a lot of research and development. So I never finished the project. The serial port would be the ultimate option but a lot of information was not available from Roland. As they would not provide any information. Leaving me to spend hours on reverse engineering of the data.

      Ah okay. Thanks for the answer. I found a document of the Roland V-1SDI RS232 commands. But it looks like you can only send a command to it. It gives every time the same respons according to the document. That's why I was wondering if you got it to work. I see people/products using the USB port since this does maybe give good feedback. I will try further.

    We have audio coming in via RCA from our mixer. Its coming into our Roland V-1HD. When audio comes out of the Roland V-1HD, does it come out of HMDI? Or when you come in with RCA, is the only audio out option RCA (and not HMDI). We really want HDMI out for audio because the our is going into our YOLOLIV YoloBox.

    • @Varvid
      @Varvid  2 роки тому +1

      It should embed the audio into the output (HDMI). Make sure you're running the latest firmware and then I'd do a factory reset on the switcher - defaults will definitely be embedded audio.

    • @Varvid
      @Varvid  2 роки тому

      Also - I'd use a TV or some other output that is "dumb" to confirm that it is or isn't outputting audio. Sometimes smart "swiss army knives" like the YoloBox can be the trouble point.

      I know that some early shipments had that bug, but reputable resellers (we're one) got those replaced for their clients. It's rock solid except for those few bad ones. I will say for a show of that magnitude, that we LOVE the V60HD. Our favorite switcher overall of the 7 or 8 we use regularly. ua-cam.com/video/kgKHJs0TcuA/v-deo.html

      Can't beat the price either! The V60HD is twice the price but more than 2x more robust. Still a nice small form factor. More scaling, which is what is such a savior at times...
