- The e-ink notepad segment is blowing up. Remarkable has been around for a while now and bombards people with ads all across social media. Lenovo also now joins the fun with the Lenovo Smart Paper. Between the Remarkable 2 and Lenovo Smart Paper, the competition is closer than you think. You’d think the Remarkable is the obvious winner but it isn’t. With an Android system and a much more affordable package, the Lenovo Smart Paper brings some serious competition.

Reasons the ReMarable 2 isn't a great product.
Their software. You can't plug it in and transfer files over USB, you MUST have their software installed on your computer or phone to do file transfers.
No backlight. Seriously... None...
Only ePUB for ebook files, no MOBI.
Poor design for durability. My cat knocked mine off a table, about 1 foot off the ground, the TV table. It landed on the corner with the power button, jammed the power button in, and bend the corner so the power button won't come back out. It's stuck in the in position.
Impossible to repair. You can't open it yourself without breaking it. Period.
Price. The tablet is expensive, the pen is expensive, their case is expensive, and on top of that, you need a subscription, a monthly subscription to use all the features of the tablet.
Not cool.
Thanks what ebook reader can read free ebook? Like I could just copy paste pdf or cbz for mangas please ?
@@deveniryoutuber Boox is a pretty good brand and can read most file types. Drag and drop, copy and paste.
Harika bilgiler için teşekkürler. Cihazdan vazgeçtim.
How ridiculous to make the pen separate! Is it any useful without it? That's an ink display you bought it to write with the pen. They are treating users as stupid
I thought the same thing! But looking at their website, it seems like maybe their aim is for ultimate configurability from a purchaser’s standpoint. One may have a pen from an older device, or a used one, or whatever. Either way, if you select “no pen” on your package, there’s a warning that says (paraphrasing) “are you sure you don’t want one of our pens? The tablet only works with a remarkable pen, so we recommend choosing one of our models in your package to use your device right away”
Not really: I’m considering one of these for reading mostly, not for note taking. I need a large screen for pdfs, not epubs.
Agree.
you can use different pen if you want from almost any other ink display, so it actually good idea. Also if you want replacement you just but. And they have combo option that give discount if you buy all 3.
For a writer it needs to be as big as proper paper.
Both these devices, are about 2/3's the side of A4 paper. Which we think is a good enough size.
Def. Lenovo, pricewise way better and I hate subscriptions especially in this price range to get the full experience. Totally insane to pay for your pen aswell.
How fragile is each device, I've heard of glass screens cracking... thanks.
i don't know how about lenovo, but my friend has remarkable and she keeps dropping it every other day. so far, no harm
@@Terry-cx2bk Thats reassuring, I wouldn't have thought they were that robust.
great overview!
Review in English but prices in strange AED currency unknown for the whole planet…. Great
It is known for normal people only not stupid one.
@@aaaa1324thank you for your constructive comment, cockroach.
Excuse me, what are AED money? From which country?
Dubai
@@karanvir32 thanks!
Remarkable (buy 🖋️ separately ) + Subscription based model is the worst atrocities committed on human species ! Hence I will go with LENOVO🎉
Thanks for the review. I was initially looking for more details about the Remarkable 2 but it was good to see a comparison to another device. Nice job and very helpful!!!
I agree that everyone knows remarkable. What you don’t know is that problem occurs during warranty period they offer you to replace it but only with refurbished one, doesn’t matter that you pay 300£ for brand new one.Yup they only replace with refurbished products.Check their warranty and you’ll see.I think that little detail should be mentioned in reviews because it’s matter of public interest.
I think that is true for most things
Remarkable does not understand they can corner the market if they cut price in half, would sell more than 2x amount. Guess costs too much to manufacture. Sorry but even though I can purchase, not because of price point
What about subscriptions? What do they bring, are they necessary?
Also, can a pdf be edited? What are the formats? What about highlighting, etc.while taking notes - is it all converted or just plain text?
As a right handed user that uses the ReMarkable 2 for language learning where it's a split of 50% reading and 50% writing. I'd imagine it would be awkward to constantly reach over with my right hand to pick up and put down the pen on the left side of the Lenovo. I also occasionally use my lap just as you guys are in the video so my left hand is always holding the device. Again I'd imagine it would be awkward to with the left side placement of the pen on the Lenovo especially where your left hand is holding the device.
Lenovo also has the same magnetic feature on the right side as the Remarkable
How you didn't try to edit PDF?
Does anyone know if the Lenovo Smart paper has compatibility with the Notion App?
Thanks guys for this review. Just a question: can I sync these devices with my dropbox account? Is it free?
Sesuai apa
Wasted 4 minutes saying doing almost nothing. Edit. Crisp brief. Focus.
Thanks it helps me devide between the two.
Do both of them support other languages? Specifically Arabic?
Thanks guys, this video was very very helpful!

I liked you style guys👍
Great review, guys, thanks. Can you please confirm that the handwriting to text conversion facility is only available with the monthly subscription on the reMarkable, whereas it's included as standard with the Lenovo?
That was very well done. Super useful. Thanks!
