  • What a fast and exciting run! Old men on baggers dragging floorboards! Woot!
This is the Southern half of Moonshiner's 28 from Almond, NC down through Bryson (sort of) and into Franklin, plus a little of Wayah Rd. Man

Thanks for showing the map. So often people post beautiful rides and you have no idea where they were!

By accident I ended up catching 28 in Franklin Wednesday night on my way to Robinsonville in the total darkness. That was my first time on the road and thank heavens for the Aux. lights on my Pan America. It was nice to see what I missed in the darkness. I did get it all on video though and will be posting it soon.

That seven mile section of Moonshiner 28 is my favorite road. I like it better than the Dragon. I've been a FTR owner for three weeks now and can't wait to take it to the Moonshiner.

Awesome ride ... I'd be white knuckling it most all of the way ;-)

Moonshiner's is so much fun! I've ridden it twice, and I'm so wanting to go again watching this. I love it! I also rode Wayah Rd with my boyfriend. It was my most memorable ride. For one thing, there was sand on the road and my bike slipped a couple of times. Then my boyfriend pulled to the side to go explore a creek, so of course I followed him. All of a sudden something began stinging me and I then discovered the hornets. I was stung about 15 times and my boyfriend was hit several times trying to get them off me. The rocks were slick and we slid down into the water attempting to move fast. There we were covered in mud. When we got into Robbinsville, we discovered there were no medical facilities at all. In fact, the county is dry and I couldn't even get a beer to ease the pain. We stopped at a Wendy's and the people were nice and got me a bowl of ice water to soak my hands. There was a nurse there, so she was bathing me down in Benadryl while her husband got a tool to cut my ring off my swollen finger. We got a hotel and stayed the night because my hands were too swollen to ride any farther. This is something to keep in mind if you should decide to stop on the side of Wayah Road to explore the creeks up close.

That was fun! The music level was just fine.
You seemed pretty relaxed on what looked like some really nice sweepers.
To me that ride looked more relaxing than the dragon.

It’s a far better road than the dragon. I hate the dragon.

Scott Riverwood it’s personal preference for me. 1) too many riders (and cars for that matter). We once had a mini-van with some kids in it roll over just in front of us, everyone was ok. 2) road condition 3) to me it’s more of a roller coaster and less of road, a lot of work.

This is a better ride than the Dragon in my opinion. Not nearly as much traffic when I’ve been on it. The turns are a lot sharper than they look on this video.

    • @TwoIndians

I hate the dragon, I’m more of a Cherohala kinda guy, big sweepers. Yeah Needles is for sight seeing, scenery, Dragon is a workout and a true test of your skills if you want it to be.

Music wasn't even necessary. The sound of the pipes and the wind was all the music one needs.

well thank you for the compliment. I have to admit I kind of agree with you but to be honest witht his much riding it does get kind of monotonous after awhile and the music helps some people enjoy it more. Thanks for watching! Really appreciate your comments!

Found your videos by accident. I grew up at the bottom of the foothills of the Smokies. Absolutely love your videos and enjoy watching them. We moved to Sarasota Florida 12 years ago and try to go back twice a year to ride the mountains. Please keep your videos coming they are very informative and very appreciated. Ride safe rubber side down.

Yeah the northern side heading up to DG is a little more scenic with the tall trees etc but you should do the section down to Franklin and Wayah Rd for sure. Thanks for watching!

Hey Brian, I loved riding Wayah Road. It was on that road that as I was riding I came upon a turkey in the road. As I approached, it took off flying down the middle of the road about handle bar high. I actually road about 1/10th of a mile with it where I could have reached out and grabbed it out of the air. Epic ride during the fall.

You have some great skills, you would think you were from TN. not Fla. We don't often see riders from Fla that could keep up with the guys around here. Everytime we ride the runs are like that. Just like practicing in a parking lot, it makes you better. Be safe

I love it. Reminds me of so many awesome places with all the twisties.. Loved you scrapping the floorboards too. Now, I know why you stopped so you could film your friends, but I prefer the front so I don't have to slow down for them. I like to ride my own line and not have to keep hitting the brake bc they are not sure on how to take the next curve. Now, not so sure about the skateboard thing but I am a lot older than you so maybe you would like that. LOL oh, also thank you for flashing those beautiful shots of Ms B. ;-) 2 thumps up.
