t7 lee season 2 afterwards was super strong afterwards though? his s2 was his prime because he had a good tracking d3 and a launching 10f move with acid rain when you're slightly off axis. you can go for insane oki with a safe slide attempt by doing d3 after acid rain back then. in s4 and patch 5.00 he's still super strong. you can't say he needs more buffs when he literally has acid rain, b4, ff4, ff3, b11f, 223, high evading df1, insane wall carry, easy, best magic 4 and magic 4 series in the game, super consistent and relatively high damage wall combo.
though, season 1 lee was just plain sad. but saying he was still weak or underwhelming after s1 is just plain wrong. this downplaying with lee needs to stop.

He’s hard to pilot and he has clear weaknesses. Even if you aren’t in the lab 24/7 you can probably understand what’s happening in the match. It’s hard to complain about an honest character that doesn’t have an endless list of knowledge checks and has easy to understand counter play.

He's very strong (but not in an op or oppressive or evasive way like for example Feng, D Jin or Dragunov) and had one of the biggest glow ups from 7 (alongside King and Dragunov) but he isn't broken or brain-dead, just very solid and strong. Still needs work one can't autopilot 😅
And almost all Lee players are respectful and cool dudes who work their character and they're rarely carried (unlike e.g. Victor, Alisa or Lars players for example).
Man i only wish Kaz had that treatment. I don't play Lee but it's a cool character that I enjoy facing 😀😀

Lee Magic 4 was unique in Tekken 7.
44 2nd hit jails, tracks both ways, -5 and pushback on block. So he didn't really lose his turn after it.
Other characters did lose their turn on block with their magic 4s.
Since most are like -7 or more on block, have no pushback or even have vulnerabilities in them such as Katarina 444.

The thing with Lee's heat is that "only" allows you to do just frames without execution, but you still have to break your opponent guard to explore this, and if your opponent has good defense or knows the Lee matchup, Lee in heat suddenly is not that strong like DJ for example, that once he's is in heat you basically have no counterplay and have to stay on your feet to block heat smash and he just wavu wavu and apply his 50/50 into you and all you can do is guess.
