Thanks for taking the time to chat Gavin. I just placed my order with you today! Looking forward to using this beast! You are by far the best out there. Thanks much!
This seems to have everything. I love the improvements they made from initial prototype - quick connect, ATS, floating neutral w/included bonding plug, battery charger. I really can’t think of anything else one could ask for. Great stuff! I just have to decide whether to pull the trigger now or wait for next TX Emergency Preparation Sales Tax Holiday 🤔
This is the one I've been looking for, Trifuel AND Inverter. Plus it has a lot of other great features. I will use it to backup my big hardwired whole-house Generac, which everyone knows is not very reliable. But, you gotta have NG to be truly independent when power fails to gas stations and propane places are destroyed by hurricanes, etc.
The Plus I see to Propane vs natural gas, is that you can Store much of it on your Property, and it’s bought and paid for. If the natural gas stops flowing due to a Disaster, you’re screwed.
agreed. I absolutely LOVE my honda eu7000. statistically speaking there hasn't been a power outage in my area for longer than a day since 2003, but you never know. I have 3 days of gas on hand but that does require a person to keep on top of it to refresh the gas every 6 months or so. having a tri-fuel surely is the best of both worlds. Time will tell what this unit's reliability is with all these extra features, but so far it looks good!. (Yes I know i can get a nat gas snorkel for my honda, but im not doing that to MY honda, id rather have a pure nat gas or tri-fuel backup).
I agree. I too need a natural gas generator but I won't mess with my beautiful Honda ER6500 either. Better to sell if for top dollar as is (almost new...131 hours on it) and buy this one. Only problem, not available in Canada
I am so amazed how they can make product updates so quickly to an existing product like this. Especially a brand new product. This unit seems to be the new benchmark for all inverter gens. It literally has everything! If Genmax added a bluetooth power monitoring to an App, like Honda just did, that would really be neat. I wonder what other new products they are looking at. This unit literally checks every box. I wonder if Genmax would ever get into stationary outdoor "built-in" generators in the 15-25KW market, like Kohler, Briggs, etc, in an outdoor enclosure. That stationary home-standby market is really underserved with no current inverter gen on the market. They are all traditional generators that are loud and burn tons of fuel, spinning at 3600RPM no matter the load....
Yeah I personally would save $1,200 (almost half the price) and go with the Champion trifuel open frame inverter 9k (model # 201176) generator that produces a hair better peak, and only slightly lower run watts. Its a better bang for buck.
As someone who's been agonizing over which generator to buy and closely examined both id mention for NG users this offers 6800 vs champion 5800. This offers ATS and is parallel capable. Champion isn't. What I think I just learned though is the parallel capability apparently won't work with ATS as a previous video of Gavin's mentioned you have to do parallel connection AFTER they're both started. You're absolutely right that if you don't need the extra 1k watts, ATS or Parallel capability, the champion is a better product fit for you. I still haven't decided what's right for me. Really wish ATS worked with parallel setup. Would make my decision dead simple.
Mr. Gavin thank you so much for these videos. Forklift skills and a behind the scenes cameo! Are there any covers you recommend for these while they are running?
Duromax now makes a 16kW Inverter Gen, but it is NOT tri-fuel. As far as I have been able to find, this is the largest tri-fuel inverter to date. Correct me if i'm wrong. Also, great and informative videos Gavin.
Duromax indeed have a 16w inverter generator but it's pretty expensive. 5k. But I guess it's a good option for those who can afford the machine plus electrician labor for the connections.
Dang it Champion! You could be eating Genmaxs lunch if you put out something like this!! I would be worried about customer support from Genmax but Champion has a strong support network in the US.
When would you use a bonded versus unbonded when you're simply connecting your generator to an interlock on your house? I have a ground rod attached the main box that I'm literally interlocked plugging into.
When you connected to the inlet box you want it to be floating because per code you only have one bonded point. when you connected to a transfer switch you want it to be bonded and the RV if you’re using a surge protector it has to be bonded.
I'm having such a hard time deciding which one I want to purchase, either this one or the GM9000iED. it's a good thing with trying to choose. I've watched all your videos on these two at least twice. if I bought the GM9000 I just don't want to think down the road I should of gotten the GM10500. The Natural Gas hook up switch selection on the GM10500 is sweet. Like to add that I'm hoping they will be a Black Friday Sale on these two.
As someone that doesn’t have natural gas I wish they would release a dual fuel model with these specs. The price difference between this and the 9000 is hard to justify.
Im hoping for a refresh on the 9000. Or for a refresh on the Preditor 9500. Will probably the gen from the first oem who refreshes their unit. Like the Genmax best but once preditor gets 50 a plug and dual fuel i could go either way. If they really want to wow me on the refresh put EFI on the machine.
It is strange that you don't see any decent small diesel generators from any of the popular brands. All you seem to see are those square box Chinese units (same unit, a dozen different names) that are likely impossible to ever have repaired.
Gavin, what is the BTU requirement for the 10500iETC? How about the water column spec? Are either of these included in the manual? Appreciate your videos.
Quick question for the masses, How does genmax use the same engine ( is it the same engine?) as duromax and get more Watts? Literally about to buy the duromax But the trifuel is a nice flexibility
The difference is in the inverter. Plus the tri-fuel you can run on gas, propane and natural gas. Plus you have an extra 1500 W of starting power is currently on sale on my website. If you have any questions, you can even call me. www.gavins-garage.com/product/genmax-gm10500ietc-inverter-generator-sale/
Duromax needs to come out with an Inverter between the 9000 and that 16000 beast using tri-fuel. My home runs on natural gas and I feel a little more confident with Duromax repair network.
Thanks for doing these videos. I would be interested in seeing the process of running this with the ATS. Would a propane tank be ok to leave connected/open?
No I don’t recommend leaving the generator in standby mode for extended periods of time just because it has ATS. It should be kept in storage mode until you are ready for it
Yes! I think it’s a great generator and with all the improvements and upgrades that Genmax has done in such a short time, just shows that the company is determined to continue implementing more R&D towards their product. Thanks for watching and subscribing to my channel 👍🏾
Gavin, thanks for all you do! I’m just curious, what do you do with the units you’ve shown or reviewed? Do you sell them at discounted prices? Also, do you sell units that’s already been broken in? Thanks.
Does this unit have a separate fuel connector for the natural gas? There is a difference between natural gas and propane. The propane has a smaller orifise. I wonder how they are able to do it on the fly.
I have a few Pulsar GD400BN they are nice. I may have to sell my Generac 17500 and get a couple of the Big Pulsar Inverters. They make this in Tri-Fuel now for $1900 ebay. Don't really want to pay to fuel two generators in Parallel. but with tri fuel I guess I could hook one or maybe both of to natural gas and use the other with propane. Gives you lots of options and a lot less THD than the Generac I have now.
Wish it was a bit cheaper, $2900 is a lot to pay for 10.5 Kw surge. Maybe $2500. I wonder if it will drop a little next year. These inverter generators are pretty complicated and many things to go wrong. I have a simple cheap troy built I've used for many years which is 8550 start and 5550 running. It's just so loud and power not very clean, although all my computers and electronics have run on it without issues. So I wouldn't mind getting inverter but just concerned of all the electronics to break. Love its floating neutral since need that to use with interlock kit to your panel and a plug to bond it if using extension cords. Also, seems like these inverter covered generators would not cool very well, maybe they should put a low powered fan in them, but guess would make them a bit lauder since sound could escape. But might make them last longer. Thanks for reviewing.
@ChatGPT1111 right but many non Hondas out there cheaper and still doesn't change my comment that I wish we're a bit cheaper:) but then again, not many tri fuel inverter gets out there so..
The hose that comes with the generator is 25 feet long and it’s a half inch holes. I’ve seen holes double that length on Amazon so I don’t think it’s gonna be a problem adding extra hose to this. As far as max, I’m using 50 feet and it works just fine.
Good morning Gavin, I appreciate your generator videos! I purchased the Gen Max 9000 IED last year on your recommendation. I want to buy the 10,500 tri fuel and connect them both together via parallel cable. I went to purchase the parallel cable on Amazon and it says that you can only parallel like units. Can I parallel a 9000 and a 10,005 unit?
I’m actually working on a video showing exactly that the 9000 and the 10,500 comes with different parallel plugs so I’ll be trying that out to make sure it works. Stay tuned.
Short answer is they added a few simple changes to make it easier in setting it up. The quick connect, floating neutral, 50 amp plug location, battery charger, 12 V output socket, LED work light and this one has ATS automatic transfer switch.
I love the features and specs of this generator. Except One: Max ambient temp = 104 F??? It's 118 here today. Does this mean that this generator is unusable here in the southwest desert? Is this a normal spec on other generators? I would really like to know.
Fun fact, most automobile manufacturers only test their a/c system to 96 F. I used to work for GM. Anything above that temperature, if it doesn't work, they will tell you it's "too hot". Now clearly it works... But I can tell you, later on I worked in the oilfield in West Tx, and when it was 115 out, and the sun beating down on our trucks and we weren't moving and there was no shade, the a/c couldn't keep up. It was better than being outside, but I believe it was still around 80 to 82F in the truck. So basically what this means, is that the generator won't run at it's optimal rating at temperatures higher than that. Im not sure if that means loss of power (very likely, combustion engines produce more power with cold dense air), or a faster break down of oil viscosity, etc. However in those conditions from my knowledge of engines, I would expect a little loss of power, and I would change the oil in about 75% of the time it calls for in the instructions. Using synthetic oil will help after the initial break in.
Since this comes with a battery charger does that mean the generator will not charge the battery itself while running? I believe Generac generators are that way, they can't charge the battery so they supply a separate little battery charger.
@@eosjoe565 That little chinese charger he showed looked like a basic $5 trickle charger. At any rate, Ive had these ruin batteries. I would put it on a timer so that it charges for about 4 hours per week. That should be sufficient to maintain the battery.
If the generator comes with floating neutral out of the box why do the connection ports say bonded to the frame above them, I’m confused !, can anyone explain this?
I could go to Az. pick one up rent a U-Haul truck, they would probably pay me to drive it back to Ca. Since our dear leader has made it illegal for the little people to have generators.

Oops!! I was looking at the pic on internet however my machine does say floating neutral. My bad
I was going to give you time to find that one out.😅
Does anyone know approximately how long one full propane tank would last. Under a medium load?
A 20lbs will last about 12 - 15 hours at 50%.
Dose the 50 amp plug put out 50 amps..
You need a 12,000 W inverter to put out 50 amp at 240 V.
If you want 50+ amp, you should look at the 17,000 W inverter
Information around that Generator came out about a Week after we purchased the 9000ied model 🤣.

I want to to pull the trigger on one of these so badly. How is the customer service with this company?
Like most company, you just have to send an email or call and be patient enough for a callback, but I think they are much better than most.
Whats the db on it?? It seems loud.
Db test coming on the load test video
@@GeneratorReviews has anyone really put this brand under a torture test?
I could go to Az. pick one up rent a U-Haul truck, they would probably pay me to drive it back to Ca. Since our dear leader has made it illegal for the little people to have generators.
Do you sell GenMax covers?
The generator comes with a GenMax cover but I can check if it’s available for sale
@@GeneratorReviews ok that would be great, I bought one when you first started reviewing these and they weren’t available then.
Can’t hear you talking when it is running

What are your thoughts on biden's proposed portable generator ban?
communists wants to control every aspect of your life. nothing new
Omg
He can try!! They want us back in the Ice Age
As someone who lives and works around the DC Metro, Never ever read too much into what politicians say. Everything eventually fizzles out after they push fear into everyone and they make millions in contract awards. At the most, the Generator companies would appear before congress, get grilled, provide answers to ridiculous global warming questions from uninformed politicians, and then go back to normal.
All these generators are on the Biden EPA chopping block for elimination. Can anyone guess why and it is NOT about pollution?
So they can cut power when your social credits run low. For things like making a negative comment about Bydenn, the Cerveza Vyrus Response or a positive post about the Trumpinator.
Communists wants to control every aspect of your life. don't be surprised. be careful with your social score. if you talk badly about your King you'll be in jail.
It's all about control.
So they can control and make you obedient.
