Anno Mutationem, uses 2d sprites for it's characters but the environment is 3D Narita Boy, uses filters over its pixel art to create distinct effects atmosphere. The other games are chose to stick to a more traditional art styles that emulates pixel-art of yesteryear. Gravity Circuit also has a more traditional approach. Does that help clarify?
It's been on my recommended list on steam. I've never been a big mega Man player aside from playing through a couple of the NES games and that time I played mega Man X6 and the soundtrack made me have an eargasm. If I get a chance I'll check berserk boy out.
Seems like an interesting game. I definitely like it when they put mix and match upgrades in games. Helps extend the games longevity by making you think which ones you want and coming back trying different combinations

Indeed, experimenting with different booster chips and burst techniques is half the fun. Seeing what synergizes for certain situations is great.
