I could imagine Mark texting him one day after the tour ended and they hadn't seen each other in months and saying "IDEA FOR NEW BLINK ALBUM. BACK TO OUR ROOTS SOUND. 'CALIFORNIA'." Then Tom, sitting there, not knowing how to say 'no' or leave the band writes the most over-the-top thing to show himself how ridiculous it would be to go that far backwards.
The Founding Father! I've always thought, pre 2nd break up, this was supposed to be the title track for what became what we now know to be the modern Blink - California albums. Oh man how epic it would have sounded if they held it together and made another solid album, at least if it was just one more.

You hit the nail right hard with this statement, it makes me feel upset that a lot of people here are hating on the new album because it was too poppy but I'm satisfied with it because it's the closest thing that sounds like classic Blink in more than a decade.
Even Dogs eating Dogs had better songs then the 2nd half of Neighborhoods, wtf Kaleidoscope and MH.DateRecorded - those songs were shit. lol.

This is such an awesome song. It would've been a great Blink song but regardless its an awesome song. Definitely reminds me of The Rock Show and What's My Age with a little of that old spunk in the older albums but such an awesome song.

+jazzblaster Haha, I'm not sure but this song was actually written in 2011 or 2012 when tom posted these lyrics on his twitter so I think it may have been decided already back then that the new blink album would been named california. So I don't think mark and travis changed the album name and that this song was ment to be on that album.
