As far as I'm concerned, there are only two types of laptops worth having. One is a small and very light basic computer that you can carry everywhere, which has great battery life (because most of the time you're using it, you're not plugged in), and preferably some kind of built-in data service (for when wi-fi isn't available). The other is a behemoth that is essentially a portable desktop. You never use it unplugged, except to walk from one room to another - the battery serves as nothing but a very good UPS. You don't carry it everywhere, so it's size and weight are secondary. If you try to mix the two use cases together, you get something that's bad at both.
The XPS 15 doesn't have a 1050 ti (I wish, I have a 9560). However, I got mine new for like, 1200, with student discount and through Dell Outlet. That said, it's basically a Blade Basic in that you can get a second HDD kit, smaller battery, it has an i7, but has a much, much nicer display. In my case, as a photographer with a desktop, I needed battery life and screen color accuracy while also just being able to game on occasion, so the XPS 15 with a 1050 is enough.
Got the 4K advanced, and had the 2017 model as well. Both are loud laptops. Lots of power throttling with the new one. Screen alone was worth it though. Base model could be a good deal for design students, who are often nudged towards buying much more expensive MacBook Pro's, and then hate them.

I completely disagree about the zephyrus. I've simply loved it. no trouble having it on my lap. And the opening on the bottom letting hot air get out isn't burning hot like the bottom of a razer or imac pro.
If you don't like the layout of the keyboard of the Zephyrus you can get the older M model(gm501) with i7 8750h and 1070 (non-maxq) 144 Hz screen but the fans are loud the sound isn't really whiney or anything just a low tone loud noise but I use headphones and the silent mode is good for when your doing anything other than gaming but the sound isn't that bad just thought id give a fair warning its been good to me so far

There is a big benefit to getting the Razer Blade for people getting into music. It comes with a free copy of FL Studio which is a really good software for making music.
U can pirate anything including that. Don't fall for something so pointless as free software. The only thing u can't get for free is the hardware. Therefore get the best hardware u can for a good value. Just saved u 400 bucks bud. If u listen to rational sense that is.
Just got an MSI laptop with the 8750h, 1070, a fan speed button, rgb keyboard and lid, 120hz 1080p. though: laptops aren't to be seen as laptop-use only devices. while the screen might suck, you can still dock it onto your desktop hardware when you come home

"A word from our sponsor" means tap screen on the right twice
For me, this is a exactly the laptop I needed. It's a thin and light with actual storage for music production
Holy shit, I can't believe Linu made that outro without fumbling :O
Not bad.
those laptops look so greasy i dunno if linus doesnt wash his hands after some greasy time or are those laptops just magnets for grease
neo69121 I have the blade 15 and they are grease magnets, clean super easy tho
The white version is gorgeous and not a grease magnet but it's also way way way more expensive than the base blade.
Alex P white isn’t a grease magnet but it’s a dirt magnet
Cook and eat your dinner of a Razor while wearing a BlueApron today (dont delay)
what does Linus and the Blade get in common? both are neutered
Just FYI - the Razer blade 15 is offered in both 60hz and 144hz display variants in the US
"While you were out partying, I was studying the blade."
Who else went back to read the title when he said you read the title

Just go for the Asus ROG Strix GL703GM-E5045T - Gaming Laptop
Got the 4K advanced, and had the 2017 model as well. Both are loud laptops. Lots of power throttling with the new one. Screen alone was worth it though. Base model could be a good deal for design students, who are often nudged towards buying much more expensive MacBook Pro's, and then hate them.
I think the advanced Blade with a 1060 max-q and 144 hz display is the best bang for the buck for their line without “dulling the blade”
Watching this on the XPS 15-9570

Obviously Zephyrus S lacks some usability, but you didn't cover the point that it makes up for that by giving some serious cooling to the laptop which takes the performance to the next level
I think i have done everthing right. I got the xps 15 with 97Wh Battery and I5 with 4 Cores and Ht at 4Ghz, trimmend it to silent with undervolting and it feels Perfect.
But hold on Linus Tech what if I taking my Razer 2 phone and jack it in this laptop would my CSGO gaming skill improve? 😁
I know someones going to r/woooosh me. But No it won't
Still gaming on my 10 year old alienware👌
Windows 7 for life!!
Holy fuk u gold
Eh, one more year left for 7. 2019 will be it's golden year, then nothing but silence.
@E.LA.O m15x😂😂 playing tf2 on high settings
you can literally upgrade for free still with a old image and slap classic shell on there while it still works lol
I don't know why people choose to ignore the cost-effectiveness of an HDD on a laptop these days..
Because HDD's are archaic and are dead kid. Nand flash is dropping like a baby down a well.
Along with the market moving on from HDD's into tapes for long term 30+ year storage. Only people who use HDD's are servers thats it.
So try again kid
@@TheReal_ist This is about as misguided an opinion as could ever be conceived.
People don't like storage space they just want MUH 2 SECOND BOOT
@@TheReal_ist cry to momma, KID !
Large capacity SSDs are thing. I would much rather have a 1 or 2TB SSD than moving platter hard drives on a laptop.
I know this video is old, but I had a Razer Blade 2018 Basic and honestly, it was a good machine for what it was. I used it as a gaming station and it was great. Was loud though.
I completely disagree about the zephyrus. I've simply loved it. no trouble having it on my lap. And the opening on the bottom letting hot air get out isn't burning hot like the bottom of a razer or imac pro.

Waiting for their notification. #NoBell4Me
Im confused, does the base model have good battery life then? Since its not as big as the Advanced model?
If you don't like the layout of the keyboard of the Zephyrus you can get the older M model(gm501) with i7 8750h and 1070 (non-maxq) 144 Hz screen but the fans are loud the sound isn't really whiney or anything just a low tone loud noise but I use headphones and the silent mode is good for when your doing anything other than gaming but the sound isn't that bad just thought id give a fair warning its been good to me so far
I have owned a razer blade, everyday i use it and it's much cheaper.
Mighty Eagle Baba lmao not at all. So many other good portable gaming laptops that are cheaper. My Msi Stealth thin has specs as good as the razor blade and is $400 cheaper.
@@bulletheat4u846 lmao i was talking about shaving razer xD

There is a big benefit to getting the Razer Blade for people getting into music. It comes with a free copy of FL Studio which is a really good software for making music.
U can pirate anything including that. Don't fall for something so pointless as free software. The only thing u can't get for free is the hardware. Therefore get the best hardware u can for a good value.
Just saved u 400 bucks bud. If u listen to rational sense that is.
What about the MSI Ge63, did you see how powerfull that thing can get without being too expensive or too bulky
Just got an MSI laptop with the 8750h, 1070, a fan speed button, rgb keyboard and lid, 120hz 1080p. Has good awful battery life if you don't turn off rgb and my hand hits the track pad when gaming, but for 1,400 usd it's a phenomenal deal at microcenter. Would keep it over any of these recommended at that price.

Linus: **pretends like he didn't just almost fuck that computer up**
I wonder why you do not review the HP Omen 15, which slam dunks both the zephyrus and the razer blade for me, at least in Europe.
0:11 good reflex mate
though:
laptops aren't to be seen as laptop-use only devices.
while the screen might suck, you can still dock it onto your desktop hardware when you come home
That was a really good sponsor transition. I just miss it when you don’t include it. :)
Hi Linus. What do you think about Alienware’s new M15 laptop. Where does it stack up compared to the new Blade?
0:11
Yup. That’s Linus for ya
I have got the Dell XPS 15 with the i7 and the 512gig SSD. It is absolutely amazing. The build quality is as good as the MacBook. Would be nice if you could review it!
I really want to buy the advanced model, but they don't even sell the blade 15 in europe (cept for nordics I know), how can a company like razer leave such a gap in its selling regions?
Lol, the ending was cool. If you do a whole episone like this, people will have to watch it 3 times to understand everything :)
this video is pure quality like many of your videos. Thank you for talking to your viewers like they are human beings big ups to all your team and yourself Linus
