If I were Austin, I would be in the shop working on the car every chance I could and having someone teach me how to repair rust is priceless. The Buick is perfect to learn on.
My grandfather was one of the best blacksmiths in the entire railyard, but he didn't have a shop at home to teach me those skills. He wanted to build one after retirement but his health wouldn't permit it. Austin is extremely fortunate to learn from you!
I like how you’ve taught Austin the basics, how it doesn’t need to be perfect when you’re starting out. When he’s driving that beast around he’ll have a tremendous sense of pride plus he’s spent some quality time with family. Love it.
Nice job Austin. The Buick is gonna rock. Remember to thank your mentor. He is such a great teacher. Love watching the two of you working together. Memories in the making
Brent. its awesome that you can share your knowledge , tools and most importantly, time with Austin, These are skills that will serve him well in his future. He may not necessarily be replacing a floor , but the ability to look at a problem, break it down into pieces and come up with a topnotch solution can be applied anywhere. I am sure these are time he will treasure all his life!
He will definitely appreciate the education as he goes through his life. I can't even imagine how much I would have spent on cars this far into life. I'm thankful every day that I'm confident in building just about anything I want to or need to. Looking good, Austin. You are going to have a really sharp ride in the end.
Had some mentors that taught me some stuff that I recall to this day. Austin - if you are reading - take advantage of this guys experience and wisdom. Brent - you are one of a kind of a rare breed!
Brent it’s great that your teaching Austin and showing him the ins and outs of rust repair and it gives you both time well spent together and it’s definitely a confidence builder for him
Austin catches on very quick and should be fine to do the front floors . He has a expert teacher who explains in terms that are easy to understand you show him the basics , he catches on right away . Thank you for the classroom tutorial , there are lessons here for us all . Stuart in Ontario ..
Thank you for being a teacher Brent. Austin has learned some valuable skills even if at the basic level. He did a very respectable job getting those panels made and in place with your guidance. Next time he won't be afraid to tackle a rust hole!
Austin is doing great! Remind him he can’t make it any worse. Asked him what he preferred he make cuts with, plasma! Who wouldnt? Cutting metal with fire! Yes!
Great to see you giving those young guys a go with hands on experience this will serve them well. this is a fantastic opportunity for any young people.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It sure is nice to see the lads out learnin and practicing. It would be my hope that at some point their hands become accustom to the feel of the tools in their hands, and their minds learn to process the different configurations of the tool accomplish the tasks they choose. Be well. Hi Ester.
Buick chassis is built like a tank! Those floors look good. Nice for you Brent to teach him that. I wish I had that as a kid! I love old metal and hate rust. Rhode Island USA is the rusty state! Thanks for the video😊
Looks like Austin learned a lot on this (including wearing shorts when grinding / welding is not a good idea) . Great to see the boys take an interest, and thanks Brent for teaching them .
I’m glad that Austin’s car didn’t go untouched this summer. I hope you get into redoing those ugly rear dog legs and he gets a good feel for what’s involved, but it can be doable. It’s a heck of a learning tool and I hope he embraces what you do.
It appears that you are a born teacher; I've told you this before. Thanks for passing your creative skills to our youth because all of North America is headed for a reckoning these are among the skills that will be needed to rebuild, Lord willing!
