Not a feud at all. Celine was in the past not particularly nice about Lara nor has she, as far as I am aware, ever complimented Lara or her voice. In contrast Lara has said publicly that she admires Celine's voice. She also says that a long time ago she felt sabotaged by Celine's management team in the US. She is not bitter but is a realist. She considers her setbacks in the US were the result of the sort of underhand tactics you have to suffer when competition in "the game" is intense. In the event, she lost. I think it is sad that Celine never acknowledged Lara. Meanwhile Celine openly admired Barbara Streisand, who ended up recording a duet with her. Celine openly admired Whitney & Mariah who also have both acknowledged Celine (Mariah started off catty but eventually warmed up to Celine). Celine was given a duet with Elvis Presley hologram on American Idol, whom she also admired. I feel like Celine got a lot in return from other artists and the industry as a whole…. Why she couldn’t return that favor to an aspiring star like Lara is questionable and does look bad on Celine’s part. On the other hand.. I always took notice to how Lara practically mimicked some of Celine’s looks, gestures, and sang/covered a lot of the same songs Celine did. It was a tad bit creepy.
I don't think there is any personal feud with Celine and Lara. If any it's probably constructed by the fans. It might be true that she felt "sabotaged" by Celines management when in the US. But that I think it is nothing unusual since there is so much money involved and the music industry is no charity so I am not surprised if they wanted to "take out" any competition since they probably wanted Celine to have somewhat "monopoly" on being a french/english singer. And that Celine has never mentioned Lara seems like a PR move in that she can't publicly celebrate a competitor. It's like if Apple said how good Sonys or anyones new mobile phone was nothing personal but it will never happen from a business standpoint. The showbiz industry is a cruel place to be.

There's never been a feud. Period. Celine is Lara's idol. Lara didn't want to cross over as Celine did and learn/sing in English. Also, Lara has had many misfortunes in her life. She learned because she had an American grandfather. She had an Irish boyfriend after Eurovision and went to stay in Ireland with him. She wrote songs in English. She had a concert featured on the Public Broadcaster and did multiple interviews in English for that concert and the English language album it was centered around. She wanted to crossover; Sony, at the behest of Dion's handlers, went from treating her well to shunting her into dance music and reneging on their promise of having her work with certain artists.

Timing has a lot to do with it. Had Lara had "people" who got her into the US "machine" before Celine everyone would have been comparing Celine to Lara. And as a result she would be the one being asked these questions about the comparisons and "feud". But Celine became a "bigger name" first, so it's Lara that is compared to Celine and having to repeatedly answer these tired questions. I have a feeling she would much rather just move forward with where her life is now. Their lives and careers have gone in such different directions there's really very little to draw comparisons with.

je voyais de plus en plus de vidéos réaction venant de coach vocal, prof de chant, professionnel ces deux ou trois dernières années et ils étaient atterrés voir assommés par son talent et n'arrivaient pas a comprendre comment ils avait pu passer à côté d'un tel phénomène, c'était le live de Montréal de 1999, j'ai cliqué sur plusieurs de ces vidéos "je suis malade" et j'ai pris un KO! je n'ai pas vu en 50 ans une performance artistique aussi dingue! beaucoup d'entre eux la considère comme la plus grande chanteuse sur terre comme phil collins, David Foster et vraiment je comprend pourquoi..
cette performance est légendaire, je n'avais jamais vu un tel niveau artistique ça dépasse l'entendement, ce qu'elle fait ne s'apprend pas, c'est du pure génie, on peut travailler toute une vie sans pouvoir ne serait-ce qu'effleurer le niveau artistique de cette chanteuse hors norme..

I think it is sad that Celine never acknowledged Lara. Meanwhile Celine openly admired Barbara Streisand, who ended up recording a duet with her. Celine openly admired Whitney & Mariah who also have both acknowledged Celine (Mariah started off catty but eventually warmed up to Celine). Celine was given a duet with Elvis Presley hologram on American Idol, whom she also admired. I feel like Celine got a lot in return from other artists and the industry as a whole…. Why she couldn’t return that favor to an aspiring star like Lara is questionable and does look bad on Celine’s part. On the other hand.. I always took notice to how Lara practically mimicked some of Celine’s looks, gestures, and sang/covered a lot of the same songs Celine did. It was a tad bit creepy.

I don't think there is any personal feud with Celine and Lara. If any it's probably constructed by the fans. It might be true that she felt "sabotaged" by Celines management when in the US. But that I think it is nothing unusual since there is so much money involved and the music industry is no charity so I am not surprised if they wanted to "take out" any competition since they probably wanted Celine to have somewhat "monopoly" on being a french/english singer. And that Celine has never mentioned Lara seems like a PR move in that she can't publicly celebrate a competitor. It's like if Apple said how good Sonys or anyones new mobile phone was nothing personal but it will never happen from a business standpoint.

There's never been a feud. Period. Celine is Lara's idol. Lara didn't want to cross over as Celine did and learn/sing in English. Also, Lara has had many misfortunes in her life. Marriage breakdown, illness (she left Quebec to be closer to family) and presently her hearing was damaged in the studio and she is slowly becoming deaf.

I'll just address one of them: Fabian was entirely fluent in English young. She learned because she had an American grandfather. She had an Irish boyfriend after Eurovision and went to stay in Ireland with him. She wrote songs in English. She had a concert featured on the Public Broadcaster and did multiple interviews in English for that concert and the English language album it was centered around.
She wanted to crossover; Sony, at the behest of Dion's handlers, went from treating her well to shunting her into dance music and reneging on their promise of having her work with certain artists.

Timing has a lot to do with it. Had Lara had "people" who got her into the US "machine" before Celine everyone would have been comparing Celine to Lara. And as a result she would be the one being asked these questions about the comparisons and "feud". But Celine became a "bigger name" first, so it's Lara that is compared to Celine and having to repeatedly answer these tired questions.
I have a feeling she would much rather just move forward with where her life is now. Their lives and careers have gone in such different directions there's really very little to draw comparisons with.
