- After my answering machine antics last night, I decided to get down to business this morning. As much as I wanted to string them along and make another fake trip to the store to buy an imaginary iTunes card, I have a full day! I did enjoy frustrating them for 10 minutes though. I love how this guy jumps straight to, "Do you have any money with you?" The quiet talkers' number is no longer active, but you can find numbers at places like 800notes.com, Twitters, and FB groups devoted to wasting the time of scammers.

Yea, I got one of these idiots saying I won $40,000 from Facebook. He wanted me to go to walmart and pay a registration fee. I had nothing to do at the time so I just just kept him running all day.
I got a substantial settlement I think these people found it out cause I get this constantly. I usually just hang up but dude wanting me to go to Walmart was too much. I told him I took it there and ask a stranger where to pay and he took it saying he'd handle it. This scammer went off.He was angry someone scammed his scam.lol.

I had the one with Social Security threatening to cancel my number. I asked what I needed to do. They asked for my SS number. I said it’s the one you’re going cancel.

The same IRS called me and told me that the FBI Director, Walter Skinner, is going to arrest me too in front of my whole village. I asked if Mulder & Scully will be there too and I got hung up on.

One of these scammers called me few months ago claiming to be from the IRS. I asked him" Do you think I am a fool?" I told him to get off my line and stop scamming people. I also told him to get a regular job like the rest of us. He hung up on me.🤣🤣🤣
One time when I told scammer (she wa going to "fix" my computer) that I knew she was trying to scam me, she went right on with her spiel as thought I hadn't even spoken. I hung up on her.
I had a scam call one evening while I was watching television. The scammer asked to speak to the owner of the house as he was getting nowhere with me ( the owner is me....I live alone) I asked them to hang on till I got the owner to the phone....and sat and continued to watch the tv with the phone in my hand, telling the scammer every couple of minutes " he will be with you in a minute"....The scammer actually was still at the other end of the phone 10 mins later. 🤣😅😂

Now i keep them on the phone for ages and end the call with SCAMMER!!!! They get very annoyed and swear at me. It makes me laugh. I'm an old lady of 77, i should know better!!

Shelley Mourer sadly, they keep calling because there ARE gullible people out there who DO believe them and give them money. If no one did, they’d stop trying with all the various ways they try.
The GeekMaid IRS only sends mail
sometimes there are legitimate companies in the US who outsource to India for customer services. I don’t think the IRS does but sometimes you might get an indian who works for them to answer the phone once in awhile here in the US. Best thing to do if you receive a mail, email or phone call from IRS, is to go to IRS.gov and find their number and call them directly yourself for informations.
Thousands of people fall for this all of the time. The young and the elderly are especially vulnerable. As much as it seems obvious to many of us, they keep doing it because it works.

I told him “wow, that’s crazy...I wasn’t aware...” he said, “oh, I’m crazy??” Then I started laughing and hung up on him.😂

They didn't even clue in until I said Canada. Then they clicked. Funny thing also. There's so many Indian people living here. I know a few and they never EVER have a normal name. One kid in school was called Jackie but that's derived from Jukinder lol.

That's the genius behind it. The scam has to be outrageously dim-witted so that only the absolutely gullible ones fall for it. The once who are even a little intelligent will ignore it and these guys won't have to waste time on it. It's clever in their part.
I have to say, after watching this inspiring video, I happened to get a "CRA" call a day later. Having your inspiration in hand, I tried to duplicate your method. Wasn't exactly the same, but close. Strung him along for at least 20 minutes. Very enjoyable but ultimately stressful. Interesting. You can yank their chain and have some fun, but at the end of the day, that stress is there and you know that while you can just mess with them, simpler and more vulnerable people are being terrified and these guys and gals don't care at all. Just want the money.
I warned a neighbour with brain damage about these people. Several times. But when they called, she fell for it and was in tears. Didn't give money she doesn't have anyway, but it scared her deeply.

Had one call me years back, told me I was going to jail if I didn't pay. I asked about proof and making payments. No, all or jail. So I burst into tears and sobbed, what will happen to my special needs child? All my family is dead! I'm getting hysterical...and the guy says ma'am, ma'am, that's all right, we'll erase your record.

Lol I know how to deal with fraudsters, I love how she lead them on with the questions at the end. Fraudsters can't put together a solid story worth their life, so it is so easy to ask them questions that they end up saying yes or no to. But you can also lead them into admitting stuff if you do it the right way.

Srael V Srael V don’t call them back if you see a number from a different country. That’s what they want and you’ll get charged a lot of money 😳😠 My husband keeps getting calls from all different places like Belarus, Papua New Guinea, etc. He looked it up and this is what we found:
“ I found out people I knew were getting calls from the most obscure places like Slovenia, the Congo, and Belgium.
So I decided to look into this a bit further and it turns out these calls are a part of a massive, international scam called "Wangiri" which is a Japanese word that means "one cut".
The companies rely on people calling the numbers back to see what's going on in order to make money.
This is basically a mobile premium scam and what happens is somebody calls you, lets the phone ring once and they do it multiple times and what they want you to do is call them back," the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's (ACCC) Delia Rickard told Hack.
If you call them back the call will be charged at a very high rate and a large percentage of that cost will be transferred to them so they'll get the money."

The IRS never calls ever! They called my grandpa 👴 and told an 85 year old man that there was a warrant for his arrest and the only way he was going to resolve the matter was if he paid $16,000. My grandpa was about to give the money to the scam artists. I intercepted the phone and hung up. Before they got anything from my precious grandpa.

They almost got me a few years ago because I did owed back taxes to the IRS for almost the amount they (the scammers) quoted me. Of course the foreign accent made me suspicious and when I told them that I was on an installment play they hung up.

I've had to talk to quite a few IRS ppl the last few years due to a mixup on my part, and they have all been very polite (except for one) and easy to understand, with the occasional southern accent.
The IRS has NEVER contacted people on the phone, until you receive a letter. If you don't respond, they will then send you a certified letter to make sure you have received it.

Every time I received a phone call from someone who has an Indian accent, I hung up. Unless, I rang my doctor's appointment and if she's sounds Indian I know that she works there and talk to her.

Did anyone else catch the White House's 1600 Pennsylvania Ave address that she gave? A real IRS agent would've said, "Say whaaaat?"
These scammers a few years ago wanted you to send money to a P.O. Box. The guy said I owed $2,600 or I'll be arrested. I acted like I was scared to death & crying uncontrollable saying please, please don't send me to jail with those murderers. So I told him I would send the money & I did. I sent him my monopoly money from my game all $2,600 of it.

I work for US Treasury Dept. and I love it when they call me at work on my WORK phone, especially because I have to identify myself & who I work for. When you know what questions the IRS is required to ask it can be a lot of fun messing with them.
