ikr? This game is overhated, it's not perfect but still pretty good and fun. Aside from some flaw and horrible voice acting I didn't see any point that deserved the hate this much. (I played JP version anyway so no issued with bad English voice)
Jirard is totally right about that scene in FFX, though. In the scene, Tidus is bummed out, and Yuna says that she has practiced smiling when she's sad to become happy. Tidus makes a pathetic attempt to smile, then Yuna tells him to try laughing out loud. So he does the maniacal forced laugh, she tells him he probably shouldn't laugh anymore, he continues anyway, she joins in, then they both break down into real laughter at the ridiculousness of it. It really is a sweet scene in context.

I get that it can be funny, but when a meme basically takes something, smashes it with a hammer until dust remains, and then mangles these remains into an ugly mocking likeness of it, that's just infuriating. Which is what happened here too. Ha ha out of context, look how shitty this game is, based on this disgusting distortion of that scene's entire meaning.

Am I the only one who played the japanese version "Rockman 8"? Japanese voice acting wasn't an issue. You gotta give this game more credit from its artwork, animation, music and gameplay. Also there is a cool openning song in the japanese version called "Electrical Communication" which I keep listening to it till these days. I feel sorry for capcom to discontinue the style of Megaman 8 for 9 and 10, only because of "voice acting issue" from another language that original creators have nothing to do with.
The problem was they tried to make it like astroboy. Which has merit, astroboy was a huge success and one of the major reasons anime in the west is so successful as a genre. but yea, you always see people constantly ragging on the game for it being horrible and bad, but can all be summed up as "good level design, adequate boss fights, fuck the snowboarding, great music, but the voice acting is horrible and i don't like the aesthetic"
Part of the problem is that Capcom didn't use native English speakers during the dubbing process. If they had I'd be willing to bet that Mega Man 8 would be more highly regarded amongst the fans than it is.

I absolutely love this game, even though the voice acting is a war crime. Also, I can never hear "jump" and "slide" without PTSD. This is literally one of my favorite Megaman games. I adore the art style, the music is fantastic, the animations are very 90s in a cheesy way I love, and the voice acting gets me every single time. It feels really different. I could go on and on about everything I love about this game. I think I'll play it again.

I think people are quick to judge the voice acting in megaman 8 , even thou the japanese version has pretty decent voice acting. The saturn version, which is the one i played, was a really nice iteration of megaman 8, and, throughout the game, voice acting was never really a problem.
Clown Man is actually my favorite robot master, mostly because his name and power are separate, yet linked. Fun Fact: He's also Wily's favorite. The spare parts Wily got to fix up Clown Man were enough to make both Frost Man AND Aqua Man.
Megaman 8 is my favorite Megaman game. I feel like it encapsulates the capcom experience perfectly. The soundtrack is phenomenal and yea the voice acting is goofy but I feel like it makes the game more charming. I love the snowboarding 🏂 sections so much.

Even though he's done with the Anniversary Collection, I hope he still continues with Mega Man & Bass, and eventually, MM9 and 10. Also, I wouldn't mind him getting back to the X series, too. Iirc, I think he got as far as X4.

Mega Man X is the first robot Dr. Light created that could disobey the first rule of robotics. The fact that Wily threw that out there to Mega Man, and he stopped, is ingrained into the Classic series and is why Maverick Reploids are a big deal in X. The 3 laws are explicitly mentioned in the intro of Mega Man X, and it is canon that Classic Mega Man cannot disobey the three laws of robotics, making 7's ending completely arbitrary and out of character.
Finally someone who mentions the good parts of mm8 XD. I felt like one of the very few that actually like the game! Lol. Yes the game is far from perfect, the voice acting hurts and oh poor Bass and that name mispronunciation, but it was fun, story was good and it was pretty to look at. Those snow board levels tho... *war flashbacks*
I LOVED MM8! I will admit the voice acting was terrible but what made up for it to me was the music and graphics. The music mostly. God I love the music to this game. I've actually considered covering a few of the songs from this game.
Pretty sure they wanted a fun, poppy, beautifully rendered, easier Megaman game to invite new players to the franchise - and hey it sure worked on my 6 year old self. Just mute the voice acting and it's great.

But seriously, I am REALLY looking forward to at least someone famous reviewing the Zero and ZX series. It is my favorite Megaman series BY FAR. Smooth controls, awesome music, the characters, the Cyber Elves, the Forms/Chips (including the Elemental Chips from the first three games. Made bosses a lot easier IMO), the weapons, the EX Skills... and ZX... fucking Biometals. Seriously, am I the only one who actually ENJOYED the Biometal system? Sure, it isnt ACTUALLY Zero, X or the 4 Guardians, but it was a really awesome addition to the series, even if the bearers were just little kids. XD Now if only there was a sequel to ZXA... someday, someday... XD
+UltimateZero42, a huge Megaman fan I really enjoyed the Biometals too, it felt like playing with a cast of 6 different characters, (7 if you count Model OX) where else could you get such variety in a Megaman game? Megaman X7 and 8 did allowed you to play as three different characters but even then you could only switch between two during a mission. Whereas in ZX and ZXA you could switch between a slew of different playstyles on the fly at any given time. In any case, the ZX series remains criminally underappreciated.

The Anime Industry wants to expand westward hence why Crunchyroll has so much access. However, dubbing companies have rights to the dubbed versions of the episodes. They also don't get much profit if they used Crunchyrolls system. Hence why they have their own streaming services or use other sites that benefit them more. It's not that Crunchyroll doesn't want to bring dubs over, it's that it's harder to do it and it costs more. Why deal with the problems of dealing with a dubbing company like funimation when they can just use the full access provided for them in a simple manner by the Anime Industry.

The voice acting in FFX is absolute crap, especially that awful laughing scene (plus FFX is a horrible game in general), however the voice acting in MM8 is so bad it's hilariously awesome and has a lot of charm to it, like the voice acting in "House of the Dead 2". If at least half the characters were likable, then I think the acting wouldn't be harped on so much. Also the fact that you can't skip the fucking cutscenes, because god forbid someone only play the game for it's top notch combat system and not it's bullshit retarded story.

I think people are quick to judge the voice acting in megaman 8 , even thou the japanese version has pretty decent voice acting. The saturn version, which is the one i played, was a really nice iteration of megaman 8, and, throughout the game, voice acting was never really a problem.

Clown Man is actually my favorite robot master, mostly because his name and power are separate, yet linked. Fun Fact: He's also Wily's favorite. The spare parts Wily got to fix up Clown Man were enough to make both Frost Man AND Aqua Man.

Megaman 8 is my favorite Megaman game. I feel like it encapsulates the capcom experience perfectly. The soundtrack is phenomenal and yea the voice acting is goofy but I feel like it makes the game more charming. I love the snowboarding 🏂 sections so much.

Mega Man X is the first robot Dr. Light created that could disobey the first rule of robotics. The fact that Wily threw that out there to Mega Man, and he stopped, is ingrained into the Classic series and is why Maverick Reploids are a big deal in X.
The 3 laws are explicitly mentioned in the intro of Mega Man X, and it is canon that Classic Mega Man cannot disobey the three laws of robotics, making 7's ending completely arbitrary and out of character.

Finally someone who mentions the good parts of mm8 XD. I felt like one of the very few that actually like the game! Lol. Yes the game is far from perfect, the voice acting hurts and oh poor Bass and that name mispronunciation, but it was fun, story was good and it was pretty to look at.

I LOVED MM8! I will admit the voice acting was terrible but what made up for it to me was the music and graphics. The music mostly. God I love the music to this game. I've actually considered covering a few of the songs from this game.
Pretty sure they wanted a fun, poppy, beautifully rendered, easier Megaman game to invite new players to the franchise - and hey it sure worked on my 6 year old self.

+kokjong son Also the rankings and Zero 2`s Ultimate Form (seriously, it was a nightmare getting all of the Cyber Elves and using all of them, when I JUST found out that I missed that one at the Resistance Base before you do all the first four bosses, then I said ``fuck it´´, and put a cheat code for all Forms, since I was playing on a emulator), and if we are talking about ZX (especially ZXA), Model a (the 8-bit one) as well (havent really played the ZX series though, since I am planning to buy a actual copy of it).
But seriously, I am REALLY looking forward to at least someone famous reviewing the Zero and ZX series. It is my favorite Megaman series BY FAR. Smooth controls, awesome music, the characters, the Cyber Elves, the Forms/Chips (including the Elemental Chips from the first three games. Made bosses a lot easier IMO), the weapons, the EX Skills... and ZX... fucking Biometals. Seriously, am I the only one who actually ENJOYED the Biometal system? Sure, it isnt ACTUALLY Zero, X or the 4 Guardians, but it was a really awesome addition to the series, even if the bearers were just little kids. XD Now if only there was a sequel to ZXA... someday, someday... XD

I really enjoyed the Biometals too, it felt like playing with a cast of 6 different characters, (7 if you count Model OX) where else could you get such variety in a Megaman game?
Megaman X7 and 8 did allowed you to play as three different characters but even then you could only switch between two during a mission. Whereas in ZX and ZXA you could switch between a slew of different playstyles on the fly at any given time.
In any case, the ZX series remains criminally underappreciated.

+PikaLink91 Well, the difference is that Japanese companies allow them to sub them and stream them. Dubbing companies don't have the same leniency. The Anime Industry wants to expand westward hence why Crunchyroll has so much access. However, dubbing companies have rights to the dubbed versions of the episodes. They also don't get much profit if they used Crunchyrolls system. Hence why they have their own streaming services or use other sites that benefit them more. It's not that Crunchyroll doesn't want to bring dubs over, it's that it's harder to do it and it costs more. Why deal with the problems of dealing with a dubbing company like funimation when they can just use the full access provided for them in a simple manner by the Anime Industry.
+PikaLink91 And realistically, the amount of people who want dubs are substantially muted by those who like or prefer subs. It'd be smarter to accommodate the vast majority if you can right?

The voice acting in FFX is absolute crap, especially that awful laughing scene (plus FFX is a horrible game in general), however the voice acting in MM8 is so bad it's hilariously awesome and has a lot of charm to it, like the voice acting in "House of the Dead 2". I love it! Better acting than FFX anyways.

theres nothing wrong with the acting in FFX that I can see. Titus's voice is just annoying to listen to. Other than him everyone sounds fine.

+jekblom123 The problem with the voice acting in FFX is the majority of scenes are either awkward and stilted, either pausing for a sip of bourbon, or rushed like the actors just want their check for the day. If at least half the characters were likable, then I think the acting wouldn't be harped on so much. Also the fact that you can't skip the fucking cutscenes, because god forbid someone only play the game for it's top notch combat system and not it's bullshit retarded story.
I used to play Mega Man 8 a lot growing up and it still holds up as a fun game. But Youth Goggles aside...drunk Asian Doctor Light is a new thing in our household now. Thanks Jirard xD
