Sorry, 2 questions: 1 do you need a separate power supply for this phone (and is it included?), 2 - do you lose access to the team's client running on your PC when you are in a call (ie can you still chat with people while on a call?) Thx
I picked one up. Inbound calls like you made are great, but my outbound from the phone device fails. No ring. It sits for a while and then returns to the home screen.
We got one for testing with teams. Calling is fully integrated but the device does not communicate with the teams app when making a call and with showing call status. , the mic and headset work ok but the dial pad is useless all calls have to be made ain the app. The mute status also does not update between the app and the phone. hanging up the phone handset also does not end the call. I will say that there was errors in running the script that is embedded in the usb drive of the phone. the phone has the most current firmware
Actually today we found out that my teams profile was corrupt and after deleting a bunch of user app data files and relaunching the app the phone is now working correctly. Thanks for replying to my comment
@@SmileznWigglez could you tell me what you did? Half my users it works and half had what your experienced. I tried wiping out all of one users teams data but it didn't change anything.
@@kewlxmunky3863 I deleted most of the folders in the teams appdata folder Then restart the PC, after it reboots factory default the phone. Then open teams app and make sure it is selected as your mic and speakers . Clearing the cache in the appdata folder fixed it for me
Just taken delivery of several of these for evaluation prior to migrating our PBX to the cloud. Don't yet have a calling plan so unable to test fully but have a few observations that make me question the MP50's usefulness. No obvious redial button so numbers have to be manually redialed. No linking to Teams contacts or mobile phone address book so seems full numbers will have to be dialled every time rather than clicking on a contact. As the phone is linked to Teams, perhaps the number could be clicked on the desktop client before moving to the handset? Would be very interested to hear of anyone's experience of using this phone with MS Business Voice with calling plan or direct routing.
You don’t get any of that with a headset either. Think of the MP50 as a headset for people that don’t want to wear headsets. As you said. Search and Click to call from Teams desktop and use the phone to talk and listen.
@@UCStatus Thanks for the explanation, a headset for people that don't like wearing a headset makes sense. I guess I was expecting the same functionality as the MP56 that we are also evaluating. Now wouldn't that be something! Perhaps not possible through USB?
Hi - with this not being a full fledged android based phone - can you still manag ein microsoft Intune? I"m having trouble finding information or documentation on that.
No. It can’t be managed in intune because there’s nothing to manage in intune. It doesn’t have an identity. It’s basically a headset, with a handset. You can manage it using USB Connect locally on the PC and you can connect USB Connect to YMCS to see device health etc.
Since I can't get my hands on one of these, does Windows see this as a mic and speaker? Like, can I play videos on the computer and hear the audio on the speakerphone? I would hope yes. This would basically fix the missing BTOE in Teams. Of course if you can actually get this phone.
In light of published security concerns, it's probably good to use other hardware until the "vulnerabilities more specific to Yealink’s services and that appeared to be included more intentionally" have been assessed and cleared or patched.

It includes a power supply. No you don't lose access to Teams. Think of it as a headset with a handset and a display

Seems like number normalisation might not be working?
I haven't used it in ages. I'd have to figure out which box the device is in and where it is in my house. Bear with me
Microsoft don't need to issue firmware on a USB phone though. Surely yealink will be issuing it right?

Makes sense. Glad it getting sorted for you and others

I work for live answer we use Cisco jabber can this be used for this? I rather use this.
It's just a USB device. So it should work with any soft phone

Does this handset hang up by hanging up the phone or you have to press end to hang up the call?
As this is just a USB device you might need to end the call in Teams. But it should have HID. I don't know if there is a hook switch
hey can someone help ASAP? i need to find out the IP Adress of my Yealink MP50. Please its important. Thank you !
Good luck with that. 😉
It's a USB device. Basically a headset with a handset receiver
@@UCStatus so how do i find out the ip adress?
It's not network connected. So there isn't one
@@UCStatus thank you for your replies! i need to find it out to connect mein yealinks to sipgate

Could you use this with Cisco’s Jabber Softphone when connected to a PC with it installed?
It’s a USB phone, so technically yes. Any soft phone should work

Yes. It’s basically a headset with a handset. The speakerphone works as a usb puck

@jschenard phew, and here I was showing caution. Thanks for clearing everything up.
Would this work with google voice?
It’ll work with anything a headset on the same PC will
