In an interview, Anthony Payne who played Cole, recently gave a little context to this scene. Originally they were supposed to have a real dog. For some reason, when they were rehearsing, they realized they couldn’t use the dog. One of the prop guys grabbed the fake dog as a joke. Martin told him to leave it, but didn’t tell the rest of the cast. So they had no idea what he was going to do. 😂
