    I have had the Maverick on order 13 months now to tow behind my 2017 UMB. Finally received notice a week ago that it has been built and shipped. Expecting delivery the first week of January. Replacing my Ford F-150 that I no longer need to tow as we replaced our tow behind with the Leisure Travel Van. But, I do need and want a truck, just do not need to tow anything. With the hybrid mileage is 38 combined. I will probably be placing a Snug Fit Topper on so we can keep our Ebikes out of the weather and secure. Will be doing the baseplate and wiring with the help of my brother who did the same with his Ford Escape toad behind his URL. Enjoying your channel. Thanks Brandon.

    I toe my maverick using a blue ox toe bar behind my 26 foot class c motor home I do not use a breaking system because where I live I can pull up to 4000 lbs. Without a breaking system! I love the way it pulls!

    I bought mine with towing in mind. I'm going to go with the Roadmaster Nighthawk 8000 pound system myself.
    Ford bodyshop is going to install it and said it's the best base plate to install without needing to chop up the front bumper. Blue ox requires butchering the front.

    Excellent review! The Maverick was my #1 choice with the Escape #2 but it was that long wait that ultimately did both in. Mechanical issues with my Mini Countryman (non-towable) ultimately took away the luxury of time as it forced the issue. Within the 3000-4000 weight class for a toad there are only 5 vehicles with automatic transmission. SO despite my eligibility with Ford X-Plan (you listening Ford?) I had to go GM where they actually had cars available and last week purchased a Buick Encore GX AWD as my future toad. Now the RV purchase...Tampa here I come.

    This video is just in time for me. We have a Class A Itasca Suncruiser and we've been waiting on ordering the Maverick due to all the delays. But the more you wait, the more you learn from real world people like you and Doug. I actually like the fact that you cannot put the Maverick in Tow Mode without releasing the parking brake. I have nearly made that error a couple of times with our old Geo Tracker. So, that's a big plus, in my mind. One question for you guys, if the brake controller does not engage with low energy braking, do the tail lights still illuminate to warn drivers behind you? In other words, do I need some kind of detachable lighting system? I sure hope not.

    2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid: After the Nighthawk installation (still the best towing system on the market) which required the removal of the Maverick lower air damping system, created when driving the Maverick between 10 and 20 MPH, a noise unexpected and not mentioned in any e-trailer or other installation blog. Very disappointed and unaware that the removal of the damping system would create this issue.

    • @Pagosa
      @Pagosa  7 місяців тому

      We actually sold the LTV and just have the Airstream now. It's all about how you want to travel and for us at this time, the trailer seemed to make more sense. Will prob go back to an LTV at some point, as we do love that as well. We just wanted more room and if I was going to pull something in order to have a separate vehicle, we chose to pull an airstream instead of a Maverick. At some point I will do a video on the pros and cons of both.

    Hey Brandon, did you or Doug ever find out how to start the engine, not just the electric components - while hooked up to our LTV’s, to exercise our transmissions every six hours as prescribed? I asked on the maverick truck club website a couple days ago and let you know if I hear back. I wish you were towing (the Maverick) then you be knowing’!

    Hi - your video was instrumental in us getting the Maverick Hybrid to tow behind our new LTV CB which should be arriving in April. Very informative and love the tips that we will certainly benefit from. Just one quick question - do you have any recommendations for the best full time rear camera? Looks like that's a must we need to add on. Many thanks in advance and thanks again for your channel. Always relevant and entertaining!

    For those using the Blue Ox base plate.....Know that the mounting points are 41" apart. Most base plate distance between mounting/towbar connections are 24-30" range. I thought there would be a clearance problem in a tight right or left hand turn. There sure was! The Ready Brake Elite II tow bar locked solid and had the baseplate in a serious strain. This is because the parts where the bars attach to the left/right swivel part of the towbars do not have enough room to move that far left or right. Blue Ox towbar I have, the Alpha model, also does not work. Blue Ox really didn't want to talk about it, said they had a towbar with 2" longer arms that should work. I don't think 2" will be enough....so check your clearances when towing a Maverick with the Blue Ox base plate!

    The big question I have is, how is it camping with the LTV without a tow vehicle? We had a class C Thor 25' without a tow vehicle. We loved traveling in it, but felt restricted because once we hocked it up a campsite, we couldn't go anywhere.

    • @Pagosa
      @Pagosa  Рік тому

      We've done it for a few years, and totally doable, but having a tow vehicle would just open up so much more exploring.

    I have not been able to get my 2022 Maverick Lariat Hybrid into the neutral tow mode, as the menu does not list that option! I went to Ford's customer service site, and the representative, Terrence, told me my truck was not equipped with that mode! Is this possible? My truck is definitely a hybrid.

    Funny thing about the Sprinter or Pro Van or Transit. The tow bar has a label
    which reads 5,000lb max tow vehicle weight HOWEVER
    look in the owners manual and you will find all 3 of these vans are limited to
    3,600lb max tow weight. None of these vans will climb a mountain pulling over
    3,600lbs.
    !

    • @Pagosa
      @Pagosa  7 місяців тому

      I’m not sure about Transit or the other you mentioned, but the Sprinter cut away that LTV uses is rated for towing 7500 pounds from factory. However max tow in my opinion after outfitted is 4000 pounds to not exceed the GCVWR. Plenty of people pull jeeps weighing 4k over mountains.

    I was under the impression that the whole 6 hour thing or next day thing was to charge the battery and not so much run the fluid through the trans. I could be wrong. If that is the case, you can have the battery charge off the RV. Wonder if anyone else understands it the same way.

      A 27’ trailer wouldn’t work at many state parks in California, where 25’ is the limit. But a shorter trailer is certainly an option. I prefer our Unity and Jeep over a trailer, but our stays are typically only 3 days.
