I know nothing about architecture or design and I clicked a link and got a documentary-level quality video from a passionate expert for free. So cool! My home office was always a storage room with a desk. Now it's finally been completely emptied and I get to design it that way I want. I liked seeing how you approach this.
Excellent example of design process: no math, just easy sketching and you hit the most important point: listening, getting inside someone else’s needs and priorities and not just selling some existing design theory. This is exactly how architects work, whether it’s a one room apartment or a concert hall or a hospital. Listen, make a design program of needs, then sketch options. Definitely do more like this.

5 months later I discover this video and can't find part 2.
As a software engineer myself, although it appears like we only work in logic. Great software engineers are creative and need creative problem solving skills. Not too surprised Joma got into a creative field after being a software engineer
as a softare engineer and digital artist as hobby, I can confirm SE are quite creative and artist benefit a lot from logic and planning. I don't think there is a profession that people should say "this doesn't require creativity" or "this doesn't need logic"

1:39 you hit the nail on the head in describing the anxiety around creativity. When I used to work in a creative space (creating and producing music), I always felt like creativity derived from some mysterious source from the Universe. Since I didn’t (and still don’t) understand how I or anyone tapped in to that source, I always worried that one day I would just be inexplicably severed from it. It all seemed so random or up to happenstance.
maybe convenient but it breaks a basic rule - never position your desk so that the window is behind your back. You can't see anything on the monitor. This rule is even in several regulations in europe about healthy and comfortable office work.

Brilliant visualization of your process! I enjoy the small but meaningful improvements made - things like line of sight and just the small optimizations such as removing the cork board from behind the computer screens and maximizing usable space for storage rather than a functionality that may be otherwise unused. As someone that just started using Morpholio Trace this was absolutely fascinating to watch! I love the combination of creativity and technology in these videos.

Hace un par de días estaba viendo una película y me sonreí porque me encontré analizando el diseño de un lugar y, basado en eso, imaginé un espacio minimalista futurista de lujo con esculturas de la antigua Grecia, realmente una locura. Sacas el lado creativo de las personas y las motivás, tu trabajo en esta plataforma tiene un impacto directo en aquellos y aquellas que te siguen. I feel I have to say this is by and far the most informative I have seen describing the thought that goes into architecture. After leaving uni with a BSc in Archaeological Science, I switched to Architectural Technology for 18 months before switching career (again) to network engineering and software R&D. Working with architects of your calibre gave me a great foundation for deconstructing complex systems and environments and then documenting and diagramming the transition from one to another. Rearly have I worked on greenfield so this really shows the process of elicitation and design prior to developing a living space or software 👍🏽

Those were very good design templates, im a computer science student myself but i like architecture also and have been tuning into the channel for a while :D

Honestly, watching you draw the space is so soothing and satisfying. I know it took years of practice and there is definitely post-prod magic happening for smoothness, but it's lovely.

As someone who initially dreamed and wanted to become an architect, who then ended up working in finance as a full time spreadsheet-er (asian parents influence), discovering your channel Dami is such a breath of fresh air. I spend my days basically playing architect in the spreadsheet models I build, but your videos give such an awesome insight into what I could've been doing, and they're extremely calming and interesting to watch. From your aesthetic video production to hearing your entire thought process. So glad I stumbled across these videos! Please keep making them!!

To be able to sit with both of would be fun, I'm the youngest in a large military family, to show how to make things organized and very easily accessible is key, and I'm the creative person in the whole family, so it leaves me to be able to tuck away ALL my endeavors until the time of year rolls around for em.

I just found Dami's channel today and my first notification was this collab video with Joma, I really wanna see how this turns out
It'll be interesting to see how this develops. I think the only part I would question as a client is about the 2 seating near the window that you'd say are for interviews with the camera facing the outside vs inside the room. Facing the camera towards the outside would wash out and shroud the subjects in the shot because of strong back lighting, as you see in your 360 capture. This would limit interviews for very specific types and times of day when an interview could be done. It is a great nook though for quiet entertainment with a friend, but the chairs would likely be moved elsewhere for an interview where the natural light from the windows can be used as a light source for filming. It may end up as being underutilized as the original couch had become overtime.
I enjoyed your videos before, but this is the first one to really grab my attention as someone that is not really into architector or design. Thanks, I subscribed now!
great video! as a fellow architect I appreciate observing and listening to different thought processes on how to approach a space and I think we as professionals should really put the work into really understanding our clients and their needs, which I feel like is often overlooked by many peers
