  • This is the incredible true story of an elite Allied sniper unit during the Second World War. Black Watch Snipers documents the Canadian military experience during World War Two as seen through the eyes of the country's most storied regiment-the Black Watch.
Using eyewitness interviews from Black Watch veterans, this documentary covers events in the ten months following D-Day in June 1944, as seen through the eyes of five snipers who led the charge through Nazi occupied Europe. The snipers, who led their platoon to victory and survived to tell the tale, reveal the harrowing details of their march towards Germany, while dramatic reconstructions of the major battles bring their story to life.

My Grandfather Liberated Holland, that’s how he ended the war, his regiment P.P.C.L.I “the Hasty P’s” was strictly to fight the S.S elite, North Africa against Rommel, Sicily, Italy “Bloody Christmas at Ortona”. He served with Farley Mowat and Mowat later wrote a book about it “the Regiment”.

Here in Belgium, Americans had such a big impact on our people that since the war every region where Americans fought (and probably Canadians as well) had citizens who spoke some English. even in rural places. So much so we were very early to embrace English sung songs and had the very first European Jazz festival with American jazz legends coming over.

After seeing this I shed many tears. I don't know anyone in my life alive now who I think would have done what the Black Watch accomplished, recent experience there would have been far too much talking, procrastination and nothing done when action would have been required, The end result being default failure. He shot a 10 year old Dutch boy on the other side of a wall this was his only regret.

I found out that I was part German and my last name was part of the German and when I found out I hated myself for realizing the slaughter they did during the 2nd war. But then I grew out of it knowing that this war is over and now most of the ww2 veterans are either dead or still on that last moments.
Vietnam Veterans are slowly dropping my grandfather who I called Pops was one of them I was the last person he saw before he died and it was during my final semester of High school a few more weeks till graduation visiting my dad and my pops talked with him and on Sunday it was the last day I saw him alive at night around 7-8 PM my dad calls my mother and then my mom calls me to her bedroom and I sit on the bed and she tells me the sad news, “Your pops is gone” my heart shatters as my part of soul goes away. I knew him for about 6 years I’m 18 typing this story. He was my fav story teller he told me his stories that made me laugh and now I won’t be able to hear them again. I miss him everyday.

DDay before and just after seems to have alot of misgivings for the Allies. Enough to say Germany must of had broken our comms, and had plenty of spies and/traitors that were effective... God Bless Us All Today! In God We Trust must be realized individually by each one of us. Whats it mean to you? To others? Being under one God has to have all of us contributing to this. Our highest ideals....

Maybe now, after all these years, these men will receive the recognition they deserve. I honour them today as I have in my heart for years now: the bravery, the sacrifices and the courage. I salute you🕯️🙏. Me: born a German, now for near 50 years thank fully a Danish citizen. Thank the Lord🕯️

If not for the likes of Men, as showcased in this documentary, we would not have the freedoms we take forgranted today.
The likes of Trudeau want us to forget Men like this, that sacrificed as they did.
Thank you Gentlemen of the 'Black Watch' Highlands Regiment, and every other veteran that has served.
    Lest We Forget.

This was a pleasure to watch, the fact they had witnesses to back up their stories is so rare, what a wonderful bunch of hero's, the real deal. Thank you Canada, you have proven yourselves over and over in every war. You should be very proud; I must admit I shed a tear .That scene at the military cemetery when the son said "I am old enough to be your grandfather " just broke me. Thats a hell of a thing.

Real men in war never talk about it and do their best to forget it. War is hell. No more brother wars. No more banker wars.
