Frugal Frau strives to live like the woman of Proverbs 31: 10-31
    10
[a]A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
    11
Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
    12
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
    13
She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.
    14
She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
    15
She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.
    16
She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
    17
She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
    18
She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
    19
In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
    20
She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
    21
When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
    22
She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
    23
Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
    24
She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
    25
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
    26
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
    27
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
    28
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
    29
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
    30
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
    31
Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Thank you. I am learning all this along with everyone else. I have planes etc. most of mine are slightly smaller which means not as efficient, but that is ok for me… I am a lanky lady and do not have the power to wield the larger tools. I need to practice the knife skills because my knife skills are let’s say, lacking. ( euphemism for they s#$k)

Thank you for the demonstration. I've been looking for crosscut and rip blades in the length you're using here. I made a frame saw with a rip blade that's 28" and use if for resawing but haven't had any luck sourcing shorter blades. Please share where you got 'em.

We purchased the blades from Highland Woodworking. We don’t always use the blades full length, it just depends on the saw. You can cut them down in length ( score with tin snips and break them after being well scored) to fit your needs. Use a metal bit to drill the necessary attachment hole. We use the short leftover scraps for or the saws etc… because we are the Frugal Frau. We plan on making a video on how make our own frame saws. Tom developed a joint that is more stable than others he has seen.

@@sukeyfrugalfrau Oh, thank you! DUH! Why didn't I think of cutting it down? Highland is actually where I got mine from. Sheesh.

Hi Sukey! I like to make cabinets by hand too, but I was a little surprised by the gluing of the panel. Shouldn’t the panel be left floating to allow for wood movement?

I'm the dude you see in the video.
I used to let panels float, but for the last 25 or so years have gotten away from it.
I prefer the rigidity that glueing the door offers.
The Caveat here is if the panel is still green then it should float fully.
We try to make sure our panels are dryer than the rest of the door before assembly and that there is considerable slop in the construction so it can move plenty. Here in New England there are large swings from summer to winter humidity and this approach has worked well for us.

There is not really a right or wrong way to do this. If you are confident that your panel won’t shrink too much then you could leave it unglued. We are using really dry wood that is well seasoned. We have control over our wood supply because we have a mill and cut all the lumber ourselves and know how long it has been seasoned etc. We like the independence of such an approach. Good luck with all your cabinet builds too. We have plenty more to do since we re remodeling our house.

@@thomaslthomas1506 I live less than 1km from the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco. Humidity is a major problem. At my local hardwood dealer yesterday I saw something called “space balls” (actual product name; from a company named Big Horn Corporation) which other woodworkers have told me work wonders. They say they take the slop right out, you only need a few, they come in a big bag and are inexpensive, and you don’t have to wait for the glue to dry. I had never heard of them before and can’t wait to try them.
