I'm not sure how ransomware is still a big problem, specifically for big companies. I worked as IT specialist in a bank, and we had a backup system with physical tapes on a daily basis. Of course, it's a bit costly, but it's a very good investment, not only for ransomware, but also for problems in the system in general. I see no reason a big company shouldn't have it.
That is, until you get hit by something that resides not on your hard drive or ssd, but on the motherboard, printer or other equipment with a network connection. This means that once the network has one such device infected, the problem will spread to any freshly restored system. And it has the potential to infect the backups as well, if they're not using some kind of read-only mode.
Is it possible that this was a planned escalation with built-in plausible deniability so that they can bypass normal barriers to “eliminating the threat”? Sincere question

@@ForOne814 the thing is it hasn't attracted a lot of attention, so I'm wondering whether they have achieved their aim? We know they put the information (those who have signed up with the British Library) up for ransom, but heard nothing since. Now this is an important site that has been down for months now, but as only a small percentage of the population are impacted (i.e. academics), no one seems bothered. I mean it has to be fixed eventually, as it is a major institution, but the silence surrounding it is astonishing and the length of time. And it is still not back online and is crucial for a lot of people like me and other PhD students. So yes, that hurts, but also makes no sense?
That makes perfect sense, the money isn't the point, the point is making stuff break.
It just makes no sense to me as I can't see what they would have got out of it, with no ransom (the info seems useless), no one paying attention etc. I'd be curious if Muta looks into things outside the US, as this seems a lot bigger than it is being made out to be by the media. It would be like if the Library of Congress was closed for months due to a cyberattack, I guess? That's the equivalent main public library. But then people barely cover it in the news and there is no update...
@SomeOrdinaryGamers if you cover much outside the US, this I would be very interested in, as I swear there is more to it. I explain a bit more in my reply.
@@charliefen the thing about cyberwarfare is that you target everything you can reach. Even just scamming old people is useful. All of that does little damage individually, but a lot of little damage is a lot of damage.
It makes sense. You even explained the reasoning. Their main mission is to screw over as many people as possible.
Ah yes, the country of Europe, where we speak European.
Either we are going to hear from them again or we are probably are not going to hear of them again, ever
The FBI's greatest mistake is that they're still around
They focus so much on spying on the American people that they open everyone up to so much more vulnerabilities - they can't seem to pick a side
Bruh watching this with English CC is wild.
hearing muta speaking German was a treat!
He spoke "European".
just here to say you give me serotonin. your little laughs and facial expressions ❤
I guess this is what they call
"won the battle but lost the war"?
FBI always takes L’s
holy sheet, w reporting Muta greetings from mexico brotha
Starting to wonder if Leave the World behind was a movie or a warning. (Yes I know this sounds stupid as fuck.)
Look up Predictive Programming.
0:10 Which one of us just had a stroke 🤨
FBI has a history of taking L L L then a big W, then L L L then again a big W
Not defending the glowies, but that's how pretty much every government agency, everywhere, works. Just governments in generals tbh: one small w, massive L,;spinning the L to seem like a w, another massive L..suddenly a mid W comes and it's praised like the second coming of Christ, dozens of Ls happen in the background. So on and so forth
15:44 Whoa, even Boogie is talking about it!?
Muta going bilingual again
0:10 Muta speaking that Urdu AKA Halal Hindi.
I honestly think that this group will absolutely be crushed, I know people think that the US government is some weak organization, especially Europeans and foreigners, but it’s not. When the US government goes after somebody, they go after somebody with the full force of the government.
Exactly. America uses tons of stupid excuses to attack others. It's never a good idea to give them a *good* excuse.
You're right and wrong at the same time. In these cases they'll use off the books backchannel tactics using guerilla mercs who are essentially ghosts on paper to go in n eliminate everyone without so much as a sound being heard. The scariest shit is when the government employs ppl that the government themselves are afraid of to do their bidding cus it's just a job/paycheck to them n another adventure to kill for money
They are going to land some Delta Force in Russia 😂 hard to believe.
@@NickyDekker89 You have a point. There is absolutely no way the Kremlin doesn't know about this group, and is likely endorsing them for this. With what the Russians are doing in Ukraine, I highly doubt the Kremlin cares if this group starts causing deaths.
You shouldn’t kick a hornets nest when it’s already in the middle of attacking.
Muta, stay out there brother. o7
Muta you should cover the new Yu-Gi-Oh banlist
And so it began
At this point mutahar is the real life version of a hacker in a anime with moniters on every goverment and sees code
Mudahar is my favorite news channel
The FBI always makes mistakes muta
FBI agents have specially-designed holsters so they don't accidentally shoot themselves when drawing their guns. If you're wondering why no one else uses these holsters, it's because they don't need them. (and because they put other peoples' lives at risk)
Just so you know what you're dealing with. Which isn't a competent organization.
Göttingen is in germany and it was pretty good how you read it. Good job mutahar
I mean, I'm not surprised at this point, the FBI couldn't find the address of a 500lb woman from Kentucky
(✨Sarcasm✨)
Muta secretly been behind all the attacks
At this point, im convinced that english and hindi are the same in muta's head, so when he speaks hindi, his brain thinks we understand it 😂
Welp...Christmas is just around the corner and the spin-off to Die Hard 4 just came out irl.

15:43 you're not fast. You are a little fluffy 😂😂😂
In 2023, the FBI is so messed up that theyre shooting at the mirror while handcuffing themselves and kicking their own doors in. "Are we the baddies...?"
no more half measures, walter
Chernobyl 2 was never so close.
But fr, that group could cause serious damage in seconds
nuclear plants arent connected to the internet so itll be ok

FB lowercase L
black vigo incoming
Ooooh finally something popcorn-worthy!
The US aint sending no Seals to any of those listed countries 😂 that would potentially set off a massive conflict. Damn curious what is going to happen next.
Ever seen undercover operations?
Thats when the C.I.A gets involved.
Retaliatiory cyber attacks and assassinations, if anything actually comes from this. Its kinda suspicious that government sponsored terrorists would be blatant about their terrorist intentions and government backing.
