Hawkwind's discography is well worth a deep dive, with many excellent songs

Yay Hawkwind! Love this band, they cover a lot of styles - this got a reggae vibe. Was hoping a Hawk track would come up after the recent space live listen. Hope L
ex and the baby doing well, she would love this.

Life changing band. Little fun fact: Lemmy from Motorhead plays bass on this record (DoremiFasolLatido)

I heard Lemmy got kicked out of Hawkwind because he didn't take the same kind of drugs as the rest of the band 🥸

@@cesarnarro6013 haha apparently that was a partial reason. He got arrested at the Canadian border when they were touring North America and I think it was sort of just a final realization that his mindframe wasn't gelling with the rest of the other band. I would assume he probably had other musical plans too (haha!)

It's weird really. I'm more or less punk rock down to my bone marrow & yet I've actually seen Hawkwind more times than any other band. I also have friends for whom the same applies.
The reason is simple I guess, they've just always been there !
They existed before the bands I grew up with & loved. They were still there when those bands broke up. They were still there when those bands reformed. They're still there now those bands have broken up again.
Multiple line up changes, experiments in many different directions & yet it's still somehow Hawkwind. New albums released both this year & last year. They just never stop.
Rolling on through time & space, like Dr Who but soaked in drugs & feedback. Influencing multiple genres of music from rock & metal, through punk to rave & techno. Completely unique & basically a self sustaining musical collective.
They played their first gigs when I was 4 years old. I'm 60 this year.
I think Dave Brock is either a) immortal or b) a Vulcan from Star Trek with a 200 year lifespan. He's actually looked old for 40 years but doesn't die. 400 years ago they'd have burned him at the stake for witchcraft. Or maybe they did !

Hawkwind were at the forefront of underground music in the U.K. doing the 70s and 80s, i have probably seen this band more than any other over the years. they have huge influence to many bands, they even got involved doing 24 hours indoor raves where they would have a mix of underground psychedelic bands kick off during the day while move over to more trance and techno acts doing the night. They also used to be the mainstay of many free festivals in the U.K. during the 70's and 80's, they even played outside the wall of the famous isle of white festival in 1970 where Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Jethro Jull and many other where playing.
They still perform now with original front man Dave Brock.
I was at a Monster Magnet gig in london duding the 90's and they played the whole of the Hawkwind Space Ritual Album over the PA before they came on, proper respect, check out 7 by 7 from the same album, well anything of it really.
Psi Power and Levitation are great tracks of their 1984 album This is Hawkwind do not panic Live at Stone Henge. i think you can find youtube videos of this performance.

You picked one of their more mellow songs... These guys were about live shows really and festivals it seemed to me. Hippie rock i guess.. they've been around a long time.
