- Welcome to a little peek behind the drapes of Yale Anesthesia's residency orientation! There is a lot of back end work that gets us all the new residents ready to hit the wards in late June or early July, and Yale's medicine and surgery residents are no different. Hope you enjoy this brief, but beautiful period of celebration with my co-interns and wish us (and all the new residents starting out) the best of luck :) because we sure need it. Be kind to us, we're trying our best. And seriously thank you to all the senior residents, attendings, nurses, APPs, pharmacy, PT, OT, social work, and all others I am forgetting but are just as important to patient care....your guidance is appreciated more than you could ever imagine. Your smiles and feedback when we ask dumb questions will turn us into some of the most caring and hard work physicians, so thank you all :)

Keep up. I've been looking forward to your post.
Intern year is rough. It gets better. Eat well. Sleep as much as possible. And be kind to yourself!
Careful, people will now know about the merch!!! Congrats on starting this next chapter, you're going to become a fantastic anesthesiologist Dr. Nguyen.
How great Andy begins this journey.
haha the best recruitment Yale anesthesia could get. can't wait to actually get back in the ORs in a year

This is amazing! I graduated at 23 and honestly regret going so young, the things I now know at 25 would have helped me so much! You’ll only be stronger in medical school with these extra years of wisdom!
thats me now, im 30 and finishing some pre-reqs and studying so i can start applying sometime soon! good luck mate!
Best of luck with intern year!! My husband just finished up IM residency/chief year and is starting heme/onc tomorrow. There are many tough times ahead, but the reward and lessons you learn outweigh all the bad times. You’re gonna be a blessing to many people!
lots of lessons to learn over the next years, glad to hear it is worth it in the end :)
Go Andy!!!! You’ve got this and remember Max Feinstein is just a phone call away and is only in New York if you need anything!!!! Can’t wait to see you shine!!! You’ve got this!!! Go Andy Go!!!!

THE MAX FEINSTEIN REPLIED TO MY COMMENT!!!! I COULD DIE!!!!
hahahaha we'll make something happen soon in between the craziness of intern year
Hi Andy, good luck on your residency journey. I'm so excited for you. I've been following your journey for about 2 years now and you have been a great motivator. If you see this comment I just wanted to tell you that I passed my license exams to be a certified medical laboratory technician and I'll be applying to medical school this month so fingers crossed and wish me luck. Thank you for taking the time to make videos to share your journey and encourage others, your efforts do not go unseen.
Ps. I would love to see Victoria on the channel because I'm also Nigerian.
Sorry for the long comment 😅
YESSSS congratulations!! and haha i was wondering if Victoria was going to get recognized too. Would love to have her talk more about her journey too if she would like but she's awesome like all my co-interns

Hello, I came across this video and I wanted to say this is an excellent hospital! I had major surgery at this hospital and I had a team of surgeons working on me. The most important doctor in that OR was the anesthesiologist. My life was in his hands. Also, it’s a great state to live in! Good luck!
The quality of your videos is amazing! I have just decided on anaesthesiology over oncology and I’m so excited to follow you on your journey!
Andy. Congrats on starting PGY1. Pay attention the next months to the nurses! I told the mother of an MD today about following you in med school. Her son is a gastroenterologist in VA.. I figured you'd be undergoing a pre-clinical orientation. Looking forward to what you will have the to share in the future. As ever, blessings.
thank you so much :) it'll be quite the journey and I do plenty of rotations at the VA throughout intern year here
Seeing this makes me reminisce my nursing program and my new grad RN orientation/program. The joy of finally starting, the comradery with fellow colleagues and friends, and but also don't forget, the onlookers and current employees staring at you guys/us thinking, "oh great, noobs again." Haha. Love the videos, keep up the great work. As a former nurse and now an NP, thanks for the shout out. Can't wait until the next video!
Of course :) literally can’t do it without yall. Nurses help us so much
I am so happy and excited for this journey you have ahead. I can’t wait to see more and follow along. Congratulations!!! So proud of you.

Congrats bro!! Also from an EM resident, please tell your corezzy to put his seatbelt on 😂
Hahaha will do, I spent enough time seeing ortho trauma to understand
Congratulations man.
Welcome to New Haven. Suggestions for when you want to get out of the city. Hammonasset State Beach in Madison. Yale owns a lake recreation property in the Lyme area. Fancy brunch at Waters Edge in Westbrook. Hike Sleeping Giant in Hamden. Food beyond the obvious pizza choices of Pepe’s and Sally’s include Bear’s BBQ. Or Amici’s in Hamden. Or Lenny’s Seafood in Branford.
Hey Andy, I'm a Nigerian. Please show us the Nigerian that works with you... he/she would be a really big motivation for us aspiring IMGs
Best of luck in Hogwarts, I mean Yale!! New Haven is an amazing city!!!
been loving the city and the campus so far! still got lots to explore
That scrub cap is elite
no seriously, was such an awesome and personal gift that will be with me for the rest of my career

Intern year was the worst in surgery. Just gotta get through it
yeah my surgery co residents are going THROUGH it right now
Can we have a complete haul of the stuff Yale gave y’all?
most of it was there haha
It could be in combination with a what’s in my bag a an anesthesia intern vlog.
I hope the best for you
Thank youuuu
Do you guys train with CRNAs at Yale?
The absence of New Haven pizza in the vlog is criminal
Hahaha there’s plenty more opportunity don’t worry
Do being mild introvert will be an obstacle for these get together events?
Or will everybody admit that?
And is it also an issue for matching??
Not at all, just be yourself and you’ll end up at the program you need to be
yale on that 2 phone baby keem wave
plug phone fr
"this is ct???" HAHAH
strictly BUSINESS at yale... no business casual. they don't mess around
but like low-key CT kind of a sleeper dawg
Naturopathic Allopathic
