      yeah, the fact that theres no zoning rules is a pain in the ass. The only thing you really can do is try and lay out roads ahead of time, lets say if you wanted a gridded city for example. There are two problems with that, though: firstly, you usually don't get enough tiles, especially if you ever take motorways. Second, the game doesn't alert you when the playing area expands, so a house could come along and plant itself right where you needed a road to go, and from that point on there is nothing you can do about it. So you have to really watch the expansion closely.

      You can place roads to stop things from spawning where you don't want them to. For example, if you don't want a large building somewhere make sure there is only room for a house to pop up in that area. It's difficult with the limited roads, but can be done to an extent, especially early on in the game.

    • @OrangeC7
      @OrangeC7 3 роки тому +34

      I feel like that's what really makes the game a lot of fun, because it gets exponentially more difficult as time goes on. That's why so many people end up losing at around 1200-1400 trips on the first few maps, because by that point if you have a remotely bad road design you've already lost. (I feel like a really big thing to watch out for is having to change roads around when there's already a traffic jam, because even if the change you made would be good in the long term it could completely screw you over before traffic gets the chance to clear up again)

    I get that the most efficient way is diagonals and by segregating roads by colors and/or making subdivided neighborhoods to avoid long and diverted travels; but that's just if you're grinding for scores.

      Agreed. Also, playing on night mode would hope, white cursor on a dark background is much better.

    Small tips
    Houses do not need to be connected. When a house appears on a bad spot, I will not connect them. You can also use road tiles to block hous spawning in a certain areas.
    Try to avoid intersections. Red houses only need to go to the red buildings. When a blue houses spawn, I try to get them around and make small areas of Houses-Building.
    Use diagonals. It saves a lot of road tiles.

      Use diagonals with the houses, not just roads.

    Love the video!!! I'm going to make one suggestion though... It's hard to see your mouse point at what you are talking about, you should do something to highlight where your mouse is, maybe circle where you're talking about or sort of zoom in on the mouse a little bit to get us looking in the right direction, other than that your editing is perfect!!

  • @Megabooy1
    @Megabooy1 3 роки тому

    Really great video! This is my first time here and will be coming back for more for sure :) It might just be a me problem but I struggle with finding the mouse when you are talking about an area because the mouse is light and the background is light. Playing on nightmode (I think) will help people like me with keeping up :)
    Great vid again

    Great video. First of yours I've ever seen, enjoyed the commentary.
    Some constructive criticism: throughout the whole video I struggled to follow what you meant when you said "this", "that" or "over here" ... constantly searching the screen trying to find where a road is changing.
    In future it might be helpful to specify directions in your voiceover (e.g. "top right")... or highlight an area you're speaking about during the editing process, or perhaps a mixture of the two.
    For context, I'm watching on my TV with Chromecast, so there's a lot of eye travel trying to find the mouse constantly :)
    This is my only complaint about the video. Otherwise, I enjoyed it & will definitely subscribe to see more from you :)

    I managed to WRECK my friends' scores on my first tries just by prioritizing road hierarchy almost to the exclusion of everything else. It is really hard to avoid culdesacs everywhere though, that just gets worse and worse.

    Just wanted to point something out that maybe might help you in the future. If a game has a light background and the mouse is white, it's really difficult to track what you are doing. Maybe being more descriptive of what you are doing, instead of saying "these businesses", might make it easier. Reducing cuts could also improve this. I'm watching on a phone, so finding your mouse and then a cut happening made it frustrating to watch, as if I were playing eye spy for your mouse pointer.

    I find the one thing this game needs, is that wherever there is a T-section or a crossroad, having the ability to choose whether certain directions have priority, basically choosing a 4-way stop or a T section stop rather than all having to be either lights/roundabouts or nothing.
