Most effective instructor on UA-cam. Your calm, patient manner…The black background eliminating any distractions…The guileless way you demonstrate, without being egotistically showy…The thoroughness by which you cover, re-cover and reinforce all the subtle nuances of the piece…All of this results in your videos being the most instructive on line. Bravo! Well done!
Andy, you're either super disciplined, or just frugal!! 😂😂 How does somebody such as yourself so entrenched in music show such restraint in not purchasing a 12- string?? Great job...I think you're the best tutor on UA-cam.
@@tedpeterson1156 How long does it take to tune a 12 string? Well.. how long does it take to tune a 6 string? I bet you it takes about half the time. Plain and simple
This video is pure gold. For so many years I've sworn there were 'extra' notes that are not captured in all the transcriptions I've seen, even Don Felder's video. Now I can play it accurate to the recording. Thank you!!!
Andy, I must say you're the greatest guitar teacher on youtube. You always teach all the little nuances in every song or solo you show us, so I can't stress enough my gratitude for you. Thank you for teaching me how to play Shape of my Heart by Sting (first song I learnt), Stairway to Heaven solo, Comfortably Numb solo, Sultans of Swing (both solos, rythm and licks), Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, and many more! I always put "shut up and play" next to the title of the song I want to learn, and there always was a solo I found most teachers not doing it justice: Another Brick In The Wall. I tried to figure it out by ear, but I'm afraid it's taking me way too long to learn 3-second-long licks. Please, if you made it this far, I'd be far more than pleased if you made a tutorial on it. So, again, thank you, for all the songs you've taught me, and all the ones you'll teach me
I've been following you for a while now, I'm a seasoned guitar player of 50+ years. I really enjoy these videos very much, it refreshes my memory on songs I haven't played in years. " Thanks"
you sir are the gold standard when it comes to guitar lessons I don't consider a song as learned until I have learned it here thank you this song means a lot
Fantastic video!! I'm picking up guitar again after not touching it for years (decades!), and when I first saw the picking involved, I thought this would be over my heard. Well, thanks to your patient, clear and detailed video, I'm now playing it! What a head-rush to hear that beautiful intro coming from my strings! Thank you very much!!!
An older guy like me has neither the time nor eyesight to be scrutinizing tablature. Not to mention the benefits of any theory/chord names I learn while hearing you talk. It’s one thing to be a guitar master, it’s a while other thing to share and teach it. I cannot thank you enough for doing that. 🙏
Andy you have to have perfect pitch you don’t miss a note it really is amazing. I have been playing for well 50 years and I can pick out about everything I want to learn but I can miss a lot at times. Of course the ear gets tired and old it did seam easily in my younger years. You are just a real professional at your job no one that does guitar tutorials on UA-cam has your skill. Thanks again for what you do.
Having played on a 12-string for many years, there's no other way to pick one than intricately! That said, this player here is one for the ages. A real player who is able to teach. Excellent technician and techniques.
Andy , you are by far the very best instructor on the Tube. How do I know? Cuz , like you I have been playing for 40+ yrs and know good from bad. MY students owe you some thanks cuz when they ask me to teach them a certain song that I have not played since 1985 and I am in need of a re-fresh. Sometimes you cover it in a vid. so you knock the cobwebs off my mind and fingers. If you don`t have it I go to the album or maybe another not so good player as yourself. I want to thank you for the help and the love we have of the guitar. I hope you stay with it my friend!!
Excellent, I played guitar many years, never master this song, and gave up, with your instruction, took me the ONE whole morniong to remember each chord, great work, thank you
I saw his video and I noticed right away it wasn’t like the record but watching it and listening to him explain the story was priceless. You sound exactly like the record.
I just bought a 12 string guitar finally after wanting one for decades. I bought a Taylor 150e 12 string. I figured I HAD to learn THE quintessential 12 string song, and the first video I find is someone playing the 6 string version of the Taylor guitar I bought. Great video too!
I learned this song years ago from some guitar magazine. It was the best transcription I could find back then. It was close...It wasn't perfect, but it did the job. And I just assumed that was because the studio recording was heavily overdubbed and there was no possible way to play it any better with just one guitar. I started playing it again today because I want to record it, and I was finally fed up with it not sounding good enough. And my very first thought was "Andy HAS to have a video on this. I bet HE plays it correct." And, of course, I was right :) Another amazing lesson. Thank you Andy!
This was very helpful thank you, You even slowed way down and showed us and took time just to explain the solo,if you ain’t then you should have been a musician, thank you so much. This was very helpful, Again thank you so much this is my favorite also.
Finnaly got it, took me some time to get the 'bouncy' rhytm going on the Bm and D ! Thank you so much for this one. These extra notes does it for me. Feels like a miss that like 90% of all other videos play without them though.
Someday when you get a chance, I would love to see a tutorial on the opening accoustic solo. I have watched other lessons, but your lessons are sooooo much better and thorough.
I haven't practiced for awhile, but I remember practicing this and taking notes on it before I got covid. Found the notes in a notebook and decided to pick up the acoustic today and re-learn this. It took me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to learn again but I got it in the memory banks again. Thanks Andy.
Seems like this is the only video on YT which sounds very close to original record. Your guitar sounds fantastic. Can you please tell which guitar are you using in the video, with which strings set?
Awesome job, I hear 2 things differently tho. on the G Chord I Hear G on the 3rd Fret of the first String and open B Plucked after the the low B NOT the open G Before the Open B is Plucked. I also hear an E on the second fret followed by Open B just before the last B7 chord starts being plucked. Im referring to the notes and frets as if this was being played without a capo in em. Solid Job Tho
Andy, you are really amazing. Long Life for you! The first thing I will do visiting Vancouver, will be try to find you and give you a big huge! You are amazing! Greetings from Toronto! Be safe and warm!!
Andy, I love your work. God bless you . I am somewhat of a beginner player.I don't understand where to go with the Chorus Relative with the capo. I'm sorry I don't know what I'm doing. Love your work, I trust you.😊
Sounds as good today as when it was first released. I have a 12-string so I think I’ll have a go at it. Thanks for uploading it again; another masterful job by you as usual.
Great lesson. Thanks so much. I have big hands and that capo really is tough trying to get my fingers where they’re supposed to go with these chords Especially that b 7th is a killer (but it’s worth it. ).
Amazing accuracy on listening to track and being able to pick out the part. I know doing Eagles songs are a pain because of their copyright issues. I still personally can't figure out the outstanding acoustic guitar part on their song Bittercreek from the Desperado album. I wish I had your ear.
Thanks Andy! As per usual, spot on instruction! I managed to figure out most of the chords on my own a while back and a similar picking pattern that sounded pretty good, but you of course have pointed out slight differences in the actual chord fingerings and picking patterns that make all the difference in the sound! Incredible lesson! Thanks very much! Awesome as usual!😊👌😎🎸🙏
Nothing else I can say that hasn’t already been said by other comments. The fact that you play a Taylor says it all. I love Martins too, but Taylor’s make me squishy inside! Thanks for another awesome tutorial. Going to try doing this through a DigiTech Whammy 5 to simulate the 12 string and also for the electric solo because it allows harmony notes mixed with the dry signal.
Your tutorials are amazing as always, I've learned many songs thanks to you! And well, I wanted to suggest a McCartney song, the one called When Winter Comes from his last album. It's so beautiful, but there aren't good tutorials out there and you teach incredibly well. Hope you can do it sometime! Cheers! 😊
Updating this comment every day until I've nailed it! (will have a 5 day holiday soon though so won't update) Day one: feeling very optimistic. Learned the first 10 minutes of the video in about 1-2 hours. I'm a beginner at guitar Day two: did about another hour. Trying to get more comfortable with the progressions. Gap of many days Day three: Thing I figured out the hammer-on (finally)
Hey Andy! I have a song lesson request. I have been wanting to learn the Beatles song Rain for the longest but couldn’t quiet figure out how to play the song exactly like the record. I was hoping you can have this song as a consideration for your next video and if so I would gladly appreciate it. Thank you!
I swear the part at 10:06 sounds different in the recording. In all their live performances it sounds like how you played in the video, but in the recording it sounds like Felder is just bouncing between the open high E and G. Awesome tutorial nonetheless, but curious if you get a minute to listen again to the recording what you think
Andy...Any chance of following up this exceptional video with the electric guitar solo from the original studio version? Thank you for well structured and informative lesson !
This may not matter to most but I would find it helpful if some of this great video lesson was played to a metronome to clarify what the rhythms actually are in time.

No hat, no screaming - just hands, guitar and a very pleasant demeanor. Perfect! Thanks, Andy.

Bruh I swear you've uploaded this like 5 years ago it literally taught me to play the song or am i just high???
Maybe it got taken down for copyright
