(Nice Tutorial)
You are a stone cold genius Warren. Unlocking what 1 hour ago sounded impossible. Thank you.
Nice!
Listened to this song for years, can't believe I can now play it thanks to your excellent lesson. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Judging from interviews, I would guess that what we have in Thom is a 4:1 ratio of a visceral vs. cerebral approach to music. He is highly intuitive. The tuning makes a lot of sense... the A opens up the key of A in more ways, but the odd chord names are a result of our clunky Western pitch-naming system moreso than any elaborate music theory ideas he came up with before writing this. I want to write a book on the types of chord progressions RH and other contemporary artists like to use someday.
warren did you ever write that book?
@@Sweeps42 No, but thanks for asking! I do breakdowns of Radiohead's chord progressions (and other bands of course) every day with my private students.
I played this incorrectly for 20 years. Odd but incredible experience to hear me play it correctly after using the different tuning in your clip. THANKS SO MUCH!
Yes, that additional A is the difference maker! Happy you had this experience!
A tip : you can watch movies at flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Yosef Alfredo Yup, been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :D
Favorite song in the entire world. Nice
Amazing man, you make the best Radiohead tutorials.
Wow, how am I just discovering this site now? Great. Thank you, Warren.
Warrenmusic, thanks. This is one of those songs I could just keep playing over and over. Such a cool arrangemt. I'm amazed at how people come up with such funky chords and tuning like this.
I used to play this awesome song with boring standard tuning. From now on, I will only play it with this brilliantly sounding alternate tuning. Thanks, Warren, for your clear, entertaining, and interesting tutorials!
It's a real pleasure to hear you teaching, playing and even singing. Thank you for this great tuto !
this is the best most informative guitar tutorial I've ever come across on UA-cam. liked and subscribed
Thank you, Warren! I'm a lifelong musician... mainly a bass player, now trying to be a much better guitarist than I was before. Your tutorial here was excellent - you were very clear and even a relatively new guitar player like me was able to learn this song. I am a huge Radiohead fan and I love this song especially. I really appreciate you helping me to learn it so quickly. Keep up the great work!
thank you so much, your lessons are amazing. Always wanted to play this song, it looked impossible but with your teaching it went very smoothly and comprehensive!
Awesome!!!
@warrenmusic warren i only learned gutiar to play radiohead songs, but in watching your tutorials for the past couple of years you have made me a better guitarist all round. thank you so much man, if youre ever in Liverpool England, message me, youll be well looked after!
Watched your cover first and was blown away, thank you so much for this tutorial , couldn’t have had someone better teaching it 👌🏻
Great video Warren. Such a beautiful song.
Thank you so much for teaching this beautiful song this nice way...I'm so stunned being able to get this awesome sound that easily
The magic is in the detuned second string!
@@warrenmusic yeah.. I recorded it already...and it even sounds like strings playing bass line in the background..but it's just me with guitar...amazing tutorial
This tutorial was amazing! Thank you so much and you explained it really well. It is really cool to see what different chords there are just by changing one string and altering the entire tuning.
Hey Tyler, you're very welcome! If you liked this, check out my other videos on alternate tunings. You can just search my channel. And I'm also available on Skype for private lessons on theory, ear-training, and guitar! Have a great day!

Best Teacher Ever
Excellent lesson, thank you so much, I never thought I could play this tune, but I'm making headway now, cheers.
Awesome job as usual Warren!
Awesome tutorial! I like how you name all of the chords too. Most other lessons wouldn't have bothered with naming all of the funky chords played in this song.
freakin' AWESOME man!!!
I just started learning to play guitar but seeing this makes me wanna learn as hard as I can
11:13 D#dim Flat 9 1st inversion with f# in the bass... or as Phoebe says "Funky Bear claw"
Looks to me like a second inversion of a B7
Thanks, Warren, for your help. Your guitar has a nice bright sound to it.Well played.

Great tutorial. Thanks so much!!!
This is the first time I'm actually getting a strum pattern to sound like the actual song. Thanks, man!
What a wonderfull rock ballad... Greatings Warren
Absolutely fantastic lesson. I remember a bunch of years ago I checked out your Paranoid Android-video :) Now I just wanted to hear some good music.. Then I saw your toturial for this song, which I´ve always loved! My guitar skills have increased substantially since I learned to play Paranoid, though. So this time I only needed to watch the first minute of your quick rundown before I had it.
No idea why I am writing this, but its just a joyful thought that I´ve mastered a certain level of the guitar at least. And the fact that I picture your face every time I play a Radiohead song, because of your toturials over the years. I just wanted you to know that your lessons are so, SO appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
After too many years I´ve finally found the subscribe-button :)
Maybe time to hit that subscribe button!
@@warrenmusic Just did :D
Great lesson man, gotta give this vid a well deserved bump! Thanks so much!

thanks a lot Warren for making all this radiohead stuff. This is not the first time I want to say thank you.
Cheers from Moscow mate
Just when I was about to ask you ofor the chords on your cover video, I found this one! Thanks !
I teach private lessons too! Ear-training, music theory, guitar, electronic music production, etc. if you are interested.
first off really awesome lesson Warren.Great teacher. Been watching him play this song in so many different arrangements. In the studio version I’m pretty sure he puts the capo on the 5th fret on the intro.
great lesson! I love the unplugged version that Thom sings...
best cover and tutorial ever! love this song and I used to play it all wrong =P
Great vid as always thanks man for all theses lessons
This is wonderful thanks !!
Also, it really makes a big difference when you hum along with the guitar! Nice :D
Super super nice song. tnx for the tutorial
Thanks for the easy to understand tutorials! I learn quicker by watching your vids
Nice tutorial. You broke it down so easy that I could just follow your instruction and there I am. What else can I say? I feel like I owe you a big time for sharing all these songs and lessons. If you by any chance come to Korea someday just let me know so I might I have a chance to return at least a part of it. All right? Best.
Where in Korea? :)
Seoul. It's the capital of the country. South Korea, I mean. :)

excellent tut.. thank you!
such an awesome tutorial man. thank u !
thanks man!!!
ur the best ever man
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial! I'd like to suggest to alter this chord: 0-8-0-8-0-0 it with this one: 0-8-7-8-0-0! not sure it matches the original but sounds great (at least to me)!
Thanks Warren!
You are a GREAT ONE !!!
Thank you!
Thanks dude, this really helped!
Nicely done yey
Great tutorial
Awesome lesson. Thank you very much - one of my favorite songs. One thing I like to do is to end it with that A shape from the chorus but to add the 5th fret with a finger on low e. Like this: X 0 7 6 0 5. It gives it a sound reminiscent of the studio version's ending.
zenrr1 I think you mean the "High" E. But that is a nice way to do it... the octave definitely does make it sound like the 12-string guitar! My aim was to teach the original chord shape so that in the future if someone ever got a hold of a 12-string, they could just re-apply the same fingerings and enjoy the new doubled/octaved voicings.
WARRENMUSIC Yes I meant the "High" E. Dough!!!
great work , thank you :)
Great tutorial! Thanks for your time (:
This is really awesome, thanks Warren! I started learning to play guitar a couple of years ago and have just been waiting to get good enough to follow along with your lessons. So good to finally get there. Love this song! Are you still in San Jose btw?
mivanov4 I'm in San Francisco now. I offer private lessons via Skype though, so if you are interested, definitely e-mail me at warren@warrenlain.com
Love your tutorials! Just one thing. Could you paint the white points most guitars have on the neck of your guitar? Would be very usefull for us :)
Muy bueno, muchas gracias. Esta Excelente!!!
this makes far more sense than the official tablature book.
damn, thanks so much for this!
I think you misplaced the parenthesis. They belong around (Nice Dream).
thanks man
I am following you now
thanks a lot man!
Brilliant tutorial Warren. This is a bloody cool song to play. Out of curiosity, do you know how Thom went about writing this song given its tuning and the weird chord names e.g. whether it was intuition or he's just got a great knowledge of musical theory.
Great!!!!
Nah, you can use your chord shape and it will sound similar, but in order to really replicate it, you need a 12-string to capture all of the octave-up sounds for the entire song. A faithful six-string version is all I hoped to present here, with the final chord having more of a sonic integrity with the rest of the chords.
It would be nice if you could put the chords used in this song on the screen. Please post the chords used in the song on the screen or on the description for not native english users
D sharp deminished in the first inversion wow how and where do you lean that stuff it sounds well impressive good tutoring tho ive got the intro and chorus down to a tee just strugglin with the rest...
jesus, that acoustic.
Thank u man ;)
