His last video, a message and goodbye to us. You should watch the video about the MAKING of this video. I cry every time I see it, this, him so sick. I loved him, still do. Always will. He was such a talent, the best, but such a wonderful soul too. A very special person. All of the members were great talents, I miss them too, but Freddie passing so young breaks my heart. There will never be another Freddie.
El video del pingüino me encanta y Freddie esta genial
Hi Joel! Freddie knew he was dying when this was recorded, it was his goodbye song! A very poignant song! Very sad! 😢
If you're talking about the video, yes. Some vocals recorded in France in his home studio just before his death (He kept going until he couldn't anymore) are on the MADE IN HEAVEN album. Which is one hell of an album. Brian May and Roger Taylor poured their heart and soul into it. About John Deacon, I think, he became quite miserable after Freddie's death. He never again contributed anything significant to Queen. Except for the Freddie tribute.
I was just about to say that @ Graham Hill
Just the video. Roger Taylor wrote the song and it wasn’t about that.
If you ever want to buy your Mom a present then this is the album to buy “Made in Heaven”
@@DrMark1981 If I read correctly Roger Taylor wrote the song to his children, about life and how he still loved them no matter what may or may not have been going on in his life at the time. It's a beautiful song and you can tell that Freddie took to it with another meaning on how he loved his family, friends, fans and of course his bandmates in which I'm sure they considered each other as family and that it was his goodbye song. Gets me teary-eyed.
He was in an incredible amount of pain when this song was recorded. Yet Freddie had his chin up and persevered. What an incredible guy.
It's easier with hindsight to see what pain he was in when he recorded this. A showman to the very end. The world is a sadder place without him.
❤️
I cried.
@@aprommer802 😔🥹😢😭
I love this song. Bittersweet because of Freddie's health . His voice is perfect x rip Fred x
Brilliant song but very sad at the same time. This was the last song he recorded with Queen in May 1991 and he died in November 1991. Just seeing how ill he was in this video always brings a tear to my eye x
Mother Love was the last song he recorded with Queen.
@@79BlackRose Sorry should have said last music video recorded

@@SergioMeneses2009 Yes,
One of the saddest songs ever. Brian's masterclass in how to make a guitar sound sad and Freddie's goodbye at the end is heartbreaking.
This was Freddies goodbye to his fans he was so sick when he made this, It breaks me everytime.
The willpower of that man was so incredible.
Still crying 😢
So so unnecessary
Can’t listen to mother love literally
Breaks my heart ❤️
I literally cannot ever hear this song without shedding a silent tear for Freddie. It was his sad swan song; his fond farewell. The finest male singer of all time. The day he died, the world was measurably less talented. Rest in eternal peace, Freddie. 💜
That last shot of Freddy, you know he's saying goodbye to us. Gets me everytime
I always cry when I hear this, Freddie saying goodbye, love him, always will ❤❤
Dignified and brave, a true inspiration. He never gave up.
When you realise how I'll he was at that time, he's bloody amazing, brings a tear to my eyes.
Roger wrote this song about his children but with Freddie's failing health at the time it was recorded, it feels like it is in a way a story about the journey of the band . It is a beautiful piece of music though bittersweet because Freddie is already deep into his illness. The fabric of Freddie's vest was custom made for him and it has the pictures of his beloved cats on it. At the time of his death, Freddie had seven cats. Fred uses this video as a final opportunity to thank his fans as he whispers "I still love you" at the end. Thank you for your reaction.
Hi Joel, Thanks for the reaction. This song hits hard, wrote by the bands drummer Roger Taylor, This is indeed Freddie Mercury's last music video and his goodbye song hence why he looks at the camera at the end and say's i still love you. What's even more sadder is that in this video they tried to make his appearance look better than it was, he was really sick and they used a lot of make up and even filmed it in black and white. Love Queen and sadly there will never be another Freddie, you should listen and react to the The Show Must Go On.
He had rashes all over his arms and legs, with raw patches. It must have been so painful, those last months. His immune system was completely obliterated.
Absolutely, and Who Wants To Live Forever. Slays, that song. My Queen favourite🙌🏼
Face the reality of suffering - it’s just part of life! That’s not negative, just the truth, none of us can escape pain
One of my favourite Queen songs. Beautiful lyrics made even more poignant by how ill Freddie was by then. When he looks at the camera at the end and says I still love you it gets to me every time, so sad he is no longer with us.
I'm glad you showed us this video. Yes, he was extremely sincere & I was always taken aback with his fantastic songs. He shall never be forgotten. Love you Freddie 💔💔.The rest of Queen are still there with Adam Lambert, but Freddie was so remarkable, never ever forgotten. We ALL still love & miss you. R.I.P. my friend xx
Fabulous Freddie Mercury…..always in our hearts ❤️
Ah Freddie! How much do we all still miss him?! Absolutely heartbreaking to watch but he really was the consummate professional right to the very end, he was and still is the absolute best of the best!
'I still love you' that last line gets me every time.
It can kind of mean whatever you want it to be and that's the beauty of music.
I watched this video when the night I heard Freddy had died. It brought me to tears then and it still does today! Thank you Freddy for everything !
RIP freddie legend you will never be forgotten 🙏 💔
Joel - Live life for the moment. It won't all be good and it won't all be bad, but you'll have good and bad times. Take it for the moment. Do what you want to do and try not to regret anything. You'll miss out on a few things, but just go forward. I've had my life wasted because I was not diagnosed young enough to live a full life, so that's something I bitterly regret. You will have stressful times and relaxing times, but that's why it's called LIFE!! No one ever said it was easy. Now get on that plane and come enjoy the UK!
Ahh that's good solid advice there Jonathan. Hope life gets better and better for you sir x
So brave. In so much pain, and knew he had but a few months to live. Saying goodbye and thank you to his fans and loved ones. Always remembered Freddie. RIP 😢
NEVER not cry hearing this 😢
The words are true. Freddie touches everybody.
Great.
This is a song I've chosen for my dad's funeral next Friday. It's proper bitter sweet to listen to it.
Every time I see Freddie look at the Camera and say” I still love you” it brings tears to my eyes. It definitely was his final goodbye . RIP Freddie. We still love you!.
Makes me cry each time I hear it some people just not meant to grow old
This is one of my funeral songs - it's already written in my last will and testament. It's just perfect, and the words have true, heartfelt meaning.
and mine!!
Me too, we must have great taste
I ws thinking the same thing. only I am not having a funeral. I have made people aware I want no funeral as such. I will be cremated and my ashes sprinkled in the sea here. I will, however, leave a list of songs and music and suggest my loved ones, in their own time, sit down and listen to them if they wish and think of the lyrics and tunes and just reflect on what they meant to me. if they dont want to .. fine. As you say, this sing is perfect.
I'm having Don't Stop me Now
I have the show must go on and who wants to live forever . I love both songs and to finish off I have bat out of hell 😁
Such a beautiful song, that still makes me very tearful every time I listen to it 💖
It was a mercy that his illness didn't affect his voice.
When this video was recorded, Freddie Mercury was in a lot of pain from lesions all over his body. He was wearing sneakers and loose-fitting clothes; he was heavily made up and back lighting and soft-focus was employed so as to disguise the marks on his neck and face. A back-stage video shows that he walked tentatively. It was a very different musician from the person who could jump around the stage in jeans or a jumpsuit or hammer the keyboard of a piano. And yet he still managed to hit the ball out of the park with a very emotional performance.
Mother Love was Freddy's very last song. In fact the last verse was sung by Brian May bc Freddy said he would finish it next day but never came back to the studio.
In These Are the Days he says goodbye to his fans bc he knows he's near the end. I used this song for my mum's funeral during the photo slideshow
This song makes me cry everytime i hear it as it was freddies goodbye to his fans and the world😢😢
when he said at the end..i still love you...it always makes me cry..it,s like he was saying goodbye...and it reminds me of what i said to my partner when he died..a brilliant song but so sad
No words when he sang this, just tears 🇬🇧
As a massive queen fan since I got my first single when I was 11, now 50, I was devastated when I saw Freddies health deteriorate over a short period of time, I was in my teens when he died, it felt like one of my family had passed, even cry thinking of it. Always wondered if I had a time machine and went back and told Freddie what would happen if he wasn't careful would he listen? probably not he was enjoying himself too much, probably thought he was invincible. I'm still angry at him being so careless but still love him and Queens music so much. He has left a big dent in my heart. Still think about you Freddie and wonder what antics and scandal you would've been up to. My hero and a real legend.
My father took me to see them live at the sun city Super Bowl when I was very young (about 7 or 8 ) in South Africa 🇿🇦
I still love his song BARCELONA with monserrat… the opera singer they play it on the cruise ship as you sail into barcelona and it’s goosebump worthy.
This always makes me cry, he was so sick and yet he is still in there.
Our dear Freddies swansong. God bless you Freddie. A real masterpiece 😢x
Brian May is a phenomenal musician. His guitar parts seem perfect for every song he plays. He also wrote most of my favourite Queen songs. It's nice to recognize others' contributions, not just Mercury.
And one hell of a gentleman, and he has an astrophysics degree since 10 years or so.
@@paulmichaelfreedman8334 Brian May also made his first guitar, i think he had his degree before he was successful with queen, and a lot of people dont realise its his brother on top gear, and the amason trio
@@johnhignett7707 No he dropped out before graduating for Queen. 10 Years ago he decided to finish his thesis and graduate. Which he did. Brian May and James May are NOT related to each other, other than very distant roots in the name. They've never even met, although James would love to meet Brian once.
@@johnhignett7707 Top Gear? He was an only child. His first guitar was given to him aged 7 He and his father made his first electric guitar. He completed his thesis after John Deacon left.
@@johnhignett7707 I never knew that, until I read you’re comment. James May is his brother. Two famous people in his family. Wow!
It’s so great that new generations of people discover and love Queen.
Freddie was a wonderful man, I miss him
Freddie was very I'll, he passed away shortly after this, REST IN PEACE FREDDIE YOU WERE AMAZING
Freddie certainly lived his life to the full and taken from us all far too early and never ever forgotten. What a legacy of superb tunes and it's great to see you really listening to them, and enjoying them, as another generation of fans appears
Hi Joel, we all want to be happy all our lives but life happens. I never married for a variety of reasons but i have loved and loved deeply. Not going to bore you a massive biog of my life but at 66 I experienced both parents dying. that is a bad thing, Mum had cancer, sister in law died of cancer, he love of my life left me for another. I am disabled with multiple chronic illnesses. I was a Police officer in the UK and saw what life is really like. I still have a huge sense of humour and look outwards all the time but be in no doubt, its not just marrying which can bring people down (and that is not a given). Choose a life partner well and with consideration for the future for a good chance of happiness. Even then things happen. People and things change, all we can ever do is go with the flow and find joy in the small things. i fling my windows open and hear the birds sing in the wood next to my house. I live near the coast and have a dog.. flowers in my garden and enough for my needs and wants. Happiness is within .. but life still happens. We lose friends and dear ones pass away. That is experiencing life in all its richness. As I said, we all just want to be happy but we cannot control what life throws at us all the time but we can think of others and be respectful, which you are, and try to get along the best we can.
Middle-age sucks, Joel. The world gets less familiar as you get older, not more familiar. Everything goes by the wayside. People die or move away, pets come and go, everything comes and goes. We're given the mechanism to cope with this, and memories help. I never understand people who say they never like to look back. Looking back is wonderful, but trying to go back isn't, if that makes any sense? Because you can't go back. And that's what this song is all about, but it sort of got overshadowed by Freddie's death. It was actually Roger - the drummer - who wrote the words. It's great how you have taken Queen so much to your heart. I've loved them since I was at primary school in 1974. There you go - memories are a wonderful thing.
This was Freddies goodbye to all of his fans. God bless Freddie R.I.P♥♥
As someone who is pushing 60, when I hear this song, it takes me back to my younger days (18 to 35), when I was living my best life. Without going into exactly what I mean by that, I’ll just say that after I turned 35 (or thereabouts), life became a lot more serious and career and responsibility meant that I had to make different choices than before. The worst part is that I didn’t realize just how great life was. I only realize it in hindsight. I often think about what it would be like to go back knowing what I know now. I’m sure I would appreciate it much more than I did back then. As Oscar Wilde once said, youth is wasted on the young.
There is a line in a song (can't remember who) that says "I wish I didn't know now the things I didn't know then" One of the better lines in a song!
I get my first social security check this month....if that doesn't freak you out! I wouldn't go back to my teens/20's for anything. I've said many times I would pick early 30's. Old enough for a bit of wisdom but young enough that things are still pointing upward :) I didn't become a mother until I was 41 so I still had total freedom. (although I was married at 21....still am) Then again having a kid at an older age kept my mind young. But you are correct. Youth is wasted on the young!
I have to smile when Joel "relates" to this song. Of course being 10 vs college IS totally different but I think in about 10-20-30 years he'll understand why I smile.
Glad you have reacted to this one. Beautiful song but so emotional. As many others have said Freddie was really sick when they filmed this, and that final "I still love you" to camera is seen as a message to fans. Pity those moments are obliterated behind the ads for other videos. There is footage of the filming of this video that shows how unwell Freddie was at the time.
His final " I still love you" I thought it was to Mary Austin his eternal though platonic love
@@robinwbarrett
I guess its to everyone.
His partner Jim was with him, by the camera he said he knew it was a goodbye to fans but he felt like he was saying it just to him
@@bluebell3720 only one person truly knows, and he is lost to us
❤ Love this song, but always makes me cry a lil. 😢
The most heart breaking song when you understand the context 😥
am aged 72 and have always liked Queen from being in my 20s but you have made me look at them again and appreciate them so much more. THey were so ahead of their time xx
your comments about life are true. You have to look for the joy in every stage. School is a time of firsts and everything is an experience. Then if you are fortunate, you find true love and have a partner to share your joy. Then kids, maybe. They are hard work but also your gift to the world and they give joy back to you. Then there are grandkids and retirement. Yes there are some aches and pains but there is also relaxation and an opportunity to refind the joy of being a couple once more. I speak as a 76 year old with 54 years of marriage, kids and grown grandkids. Go out young man and make your life and seek the joy in everything you do. I wish you well.
Wowww Joel, a deep insightful look at your life too as well as FM's. The FM video was very near his death hence his stage make-up and filmed in B/W he was leaving the world with his own personal message.
** WOW …. Joel , Your Comments , what can I say …. Soooo Deep & Meaningful & Full of Truth . Your Very Switched on & wise for your age .. what a Credit to your Parents you are .
( and whenever I watch this Queen Video.. my eyes Break … You can clearly see He has accepted his fate & sings about the MOST important thing you’ll Ever Own … Memories ) … so Go & get a Bag full Joel 💛
Freddie Mercury - taken from us too early
This was a song for his fans...the part at the end when he whispers I still love you was aimed at his fans so sad
I can’t believe how fast life goes. As soon as you start work, life changes bills.💕
Even when he knew his life was ending he was a showman till the very end, when the lights were turned off for the final time, and the curtains were drawn closed.
And it makes you think, death did not win, because Freddie used his pain to create another masterpiece song, to bid farewell to us all.
You see, a long life life is not guaranteed for any of us, and there’s no certainties.
And with that in mind, gratitude helps us acknowledge that waking up every morning is a privilege and a blessing.
Freddie may of lived a short life, but he lived his life in full, doing the things he loved, and leaving behind an immortal legacy in music.
His decease took his life, but it could not take his soul, and the love people had for his music the world over. 🎤 🎶 :)
Freddie at the let us fans know he still loved us. We Queenies still love him, such a sweet person.
Damn song makes my cry every time; for the loss of such an amazing talent, and for the musical genius we got to behold while he was here.
Even in this, his last video performance, he looks unwell, but is trying so damned hard to be the performer his fans love.
He didn't even make it 6 months after the recording. I have no idea how much pain he must have been in during this, but I will forever be greatful that he gave us this last performance.
He looked so poorly in this video and yet still beautiful I wasn't ready to say goodbye to him this song still breaks my heart now
You should listen to No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) by the remaining members of Queen. It is their sad farewell to Freddie.
When that video and song was recorded , Freddie was terminally ill hence his gaunt appearance 🙁. Freddie your sadly missed. RIP
Everyone can relate to this song indid,....i do.
Great song.
I've never heard this song either before watching this video but I really enjoyed it! I like how they switched up their sound here with such a laidback sound, the percussions, synths, bass and of course Freddie Mercury's stellar vocals. Those chorus harmonies are amazing and really get me vibing along. You sure can't go wrong with a Queen song and this one definitely is no exception! :)
I love all of queens songs & for me this is a sad song knowing he passed away not long after, perhaps this was Freddie’s goodbye to the world & his fans ❤️
A theme tune to life no matter who you are or where you come from! ❤️ I think it feels so poignant simply because childhood is so fleeting and thankfully for most fairly carefree. Makes you nostalgic even if you're not unhappy in your adult life ❤️
yes, that is it.... ☺️
Fun fact about the video: Brian May was in the US doing media in support of the Innuendo album. If you look carefully, you can tell Brian was filmed separately and added in later. They filmed it so well its almost invisible. So sad that this was Freddie's last ever video appearance, which of course is what makes his final words to the camera - I still love you - so affecting. Great reaction Joel :)
Hi Joe! Keep yourself alive was Queen's first single. If you want to be a Queen fan you must listen to this song live in Montreal 1981. You won't regret!
This song is one to make you, as a person, stop and think. What are your dreams? Advice? Go out and live - you only get one chance! I am 75 and have outlived many of the heroes/heroines of my youth - live every day of your life with love and kindness and if, like me, you meet the love of your life then you can count yourself lucky! We married when we were 19 and are still together - and yes, it takes love, trust, hard work and faith in each other! Freddie was list to us too young but this song is a life lesson - live every day of your life. Go out, meet the world, live life!
You should do "Spread your wings". A very underrated song and one of my favourite Queen songs.
You will like it I promise!
I cried through this. Like I do every time I hear it.
Freddie looks so unwell, bless him. His voice endured.
Marriage and children can make you happy. But nothing worth having comes easy you have to work at it. Marry someone who is you best friend. Do a thing for work that you like. But mostly people happy in work is because of the people they work with. Everyone looks back thinking times were happier because the brain tricks you it remembers the good things and forgets a lot of the bad things. I'm glad you had a happy childhood. You are so young yet. Plenty of time
Roger Taylor wrote this about his family, but this is a perfect song to surround the impending death of Freddie.
Brah, as you get older, you’ll look back on different moments in your life with a smile. That’s what this song is all about, I think 🤔
Love of my life is another beautiful song I had it played at my wife’s funeral.
This is song was released as a double A- side with Bohemian Rhapsody in the UK after Freddie died. Unsurprisingly it went straight to number one and stayed there for five weeks. When the video it was released it was obvious Freddie had been terminally ill then.
This song still makes me cry so sad he was taken from us way to soon his voice was liquid gold and would have got even better with age
Even though the song was written by Roger Taylor reflecting on his experiences being a parent, many considered this to be Mercury's swan song and his last music video. The song works both ways. RIP Mercury.
Freddie was very ill when he made that video, as you may have noticed. Still one of my favourite songs.
Freddie was made up in lots of heavy theatre makeup to hide the kaposi sarcome scars on his face, and filmed in B&W to disguise how pale he was.
The waistcoat had pictures of his cats on it. He drew great comfort from them in his final months.
He was so thin and frail by now that he had to wear multiple layers to fill his clothes out, even though pretty much any skin contact was painful for him. He had sores on his feet and wore slippers when he could stand for only short periods.
Whilst this video was recorded in May '91 it wasn't released as a single until after Freddie's death.
Written by Roger Taylor, it was reflective but (in his words) optimistic, today is more important than yesterday.
It was the last time Freddie would be seen on film.
His last words to his fans, straight down the camera, "I still love you".
Always in our thoughts. 😪
This song always takes me back, as I was growing a life in my tummy Freddie was coming to the end of his. So sad.
I reccomend Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy and Killer Queen if you haven't heard those yet. This one is brilliant, very sombre knowing the context of the lyrics
At the end when he looks into the camera and says 'I love you' whoa I fill up each time, as he was saying his goodbye to us.
What
a wonderful way for a great man to say goodbye
This video sends shivers down my spine. The last video Freddie did before he died. All his final emotions came out in this. A legend.
Oh my beautiful Freddie, fly high my angel 😘😇 see you on the other side.
If you can, watch the final act documentary! It was made by the rest of the band in tribute to him in 2021
It's a true look at his life!
always brings a tear to my eyes; a lump to my throat. my childhood wasn't a happy one. my adult life was marred by mental health problems. but in 2006, i was diagnosed with a terminal illness and was given just a few months to live, at most [emphysema] i fought to stay alive and was able to make my peace, with my life. i've actually been happier than i ever was. songs like this do remind me of my own mortality, though. not that it stops me from listening to it, every time it comes up. so, thanks.
😥😥every time I watch….. miss you Freddie - I still love you too ❤️❤️😥😥a showman and professional to the end 😔
This song is so emotional as it was Freddie’s goodbye to his fans as he knew it would be his last video before he passed….he was in alot of pain filming this 😭😭😭😭 it makes me so sad an emotional watching this 😭😭😭😭😭

It's called life Joel. Good with the bad . You make the good last. Its called a memory.cut out the bad . And live . Your memory will always beat a photograph. .
I had forgotten about this music video from the early 1990s. I only remember it being featured during the late Lady Diana's memorial years later. Sweet and sad. 🇺🇲🇬🇧
I still cry at this 😢
Loved your perspective on life in general. We are all individuals with our own unique personalities. I left school at 15 (yeah I'm old) without qualifications, which has never held me back in any way, as I have lived a very fulfilling and enriching life. Widely travelled living in some obscure places back in the day, one of which was Switzerland where I met Queen as they bought the recording studio where I worked. I have never married or had children and luckily I met a like minded person. Never know what's waiting around the corner so I try and enjoy every day. Life is amazing. Brilliant perspective Joel and i loved your reaction. Hugs from the UK
Hi Jay, I too left school at 15 with no qualifications so I know what you had to do to progress up life's ladder. I did massive amounts of reading, home study and experimentation to eventually get to be a senior electronics design engineer in a very large defence company. Like you I have never married or had children, something I miss terribly but I suppose the cost of being too much of a swot. 😢
Apart from that, I like to think I have done everything else one would like to do, including traveling around the World. It is so easy to slip back into thinking that maybe Life could have been better but then I think how much worse it could have been. 😊
@@lescarpenter162 ah, bless you for your response and well done to you too, it all sounds very positive. Life is only what you make of it and it seems you've achieved a fulfilling life. As you said, life could have been a whole heap worse especially when you look around, I've also been through a few bad times, but again, there are people who are a lot worse off. I wouldn't change anything, but there are some things I would have done slightly different knowing what I do now. 🙂
I have had the pleasure of spending good times with my nephews and good friends kids, having known them since they were born, but without the angst of having my own. Keep smiling and best wishes
