How to replace the struts on a VW or Audi.

This is for MacPherson strut cars. Mk5 and 6 (likely mk7 also) Golf and Jetta. Probably same vintage Passat. And the Audi TT mk2. Possibly other models too.
This method requires no hammering and no need to remove the drive shaft and lower ball joint.
