    New Strut Assembly from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ib/1ASTS02278
    This video shows you how to install front struts on your 2011-2018 Volkswagen Jetta. TRQ Struts are made to fit your vehicle exactly, just like the original part. 2011 Volkswagen Jetta
    2012 Volkswagen Jetta
    2013 Volkswagen Jetta
    2014 Volkswagen Jetta
    2015 Volkswagen Jetta

    I completed this repair today on a mk6 2011 tdi jetta. This is a great video however do not be fooled, this is a job that requires at the min intermediate plus mechanical skills. Alot can go very wrong if your not carefully. Plenty of things that cause issues and easily strip. Very good video.

    Great video. However for my own replacement, I found it easier to completely remove the knuckle/rotor assembly, the. install the new strut into the knuckle housing by hammering in a wedge into the knuckle housing slot JUST ENOUGH for new strut to go into the housing smoothly, apply sufficient grease. Then install the knuckle housing/strut combo into the car and reassemble as rest of video shows. I tried using the lift method in the video but my floor lift was blocked by the lower control arm and it was hella frustrating. I hope this helps someone. Been a year without issues 👍👍

    I have to say this is possibly one of the best instructional videos on car repairs I have seen. I am not a licensed mechanic but have very good mechanical skills and like to make sure that I do things correctly. Thanks for your in depth professional tutorial.

    Glad I got the fully loaded struts with springs. Tips for people attempting this: make sure you have a triple square set and big breaker bar. The worst part was my 3 strut bolts kept spinning with the nut. Had to cut 2 of them off. Make sure you soak these so the bolt breaks loose before the nut strips out of the bracket.

    Definitely don’t have to do all of that to install the strut assembly……. Literally took me like 15 to 30 minutes let the rotor, caliper and all hang by the axle…. After tapping the knuckle to get old strut out install new one an press down on the knuckle an boom 🎉😑… 10000x easier

    I liked that you mentioned to use new hardware and anti-seize, but why would you not want to replace that axle bolt? First off, it's a significant safety concern, and secondly, it's a stretch bolt that's been compromised. If I recall, the mark 5 and earlier vw's had higher torque and angle value.

  • @adrianmack3

    Why on earth wouldn't you replace the strut mount and bearing while it's apart, clearly rusted and not long before needing replacement. There is a cheap strut housing spreader tool that makes it much easier to remove the strut. When using a torque wrench, if the nut or bolt doesn't turn before indicating it's torqued, you are already over tightened. You have no idea how tight the bolts are on those wheels.

    • @victorlopez2143

    If you're replacing your struts you should probably replace the springs. Springs on our cars are notoriously terrible and grenade all the time.

    I called around to my local shops and they kept giving me estimates of $800 for just labor, even though I’m providing the parts but I’ve installed shocks and struts on a 240… imported from Japan, the way this is done seems to be familiar with that.. so I was planning on doing it myself, but because I had guidance on the 240 I’m scared I’ll fuck it up on my own.. for any car people, is the vw a lot harder?

    why not remove the entire brake instead of just the caliper/pads?

  • @neilg3364
    @neilg3364 Місяць тому

    This is an overly complicated way. In the wheel well all you need to remove is the driveshaft bolt, 3 bottom ball joint nuts, anti roll bar link (top nut) and the shock absorber bolt & nut. Then use a spreader bit in the back of the shock and the hub will literally fall off. I'd also use that drive shaft torque spec at your own risk. Across the VAG range they are usually 200nm + 180° and normally require a 3/4 inch breaker bar for the final degree

    SMH. This video is bad.
    Youll need a triple square and a knuckle spreader tool or similar. No need to smack the knuckle with a hammer repeatedly.
    Also, the axle bolt is a 1 time use only. Its better to avoid removing that part if possible.

  • @RamanMitsulia

  • @yourpertydumb
    @yourpertydumb 3 місяці тому

    The tool he is talking about that "looks like this" is a m14 triple square bit. Also..on the lower control arm the 18mm nut, make sure you have a deep socket so the bolt won't hit the drive head.
