Huge fun and lovely tune. I love this band: there is something utterly infectious about their zest and zany fun! Yes, the Dubliners' version was also great - but my feeling is that we do not have to do the old 'better than' ploy: surely, in our diverse world, there's room for both!
I totally agree - and feel the same about the differences between the Dubliners' version of 'Mrs McGrath' and that of Bruce Springsteen. I think the latter captures the essential tragedy of it all better, however.
That was totally awesome I Love this band They always make me sing along with their music I miss going to Newfoundland I live in Prescott we have a nice place you can go down near the water But its not the same not like Brigus where alot of my relations are.
Re "This version is terrible" ??? I listened to the Dubliners and Luke Kelly's version and fell asleep. But I suppose if you can't keep up, the older stuff works fine.
Mind blowing to hear this! Lost track when this was played last. Exception lly fine video. 100 percent present ed❤❤❤
Such a great group. I've never seen a better live band.
True that!

By far the best version of this song that I have found!

such a wonderful group
Love all the innuendos in the intro
I miss them 👍
Now, I'm not saying that the song is also awesome, and brilliant, but a lot of the times that I watch this is just for the opening. It's hilarious.
this is a great song
"Have a brief sock exchange" Ahahahaaa. Love this whole speech by Sean, totally hilarious :)
"No forking, just spooning." SEAN! You, naughty, naughty Rover you!"
The first 27 seconds are glorious. The rest of it is as well, but the first little bit cracked me up.
I really like this version!
Sean McCann, you're Beautiful. ❤
The intro is life
This is the best version of the song
Is Alan telling Sean to tone it down after the "big bosomies" comment?!?
Why yes that is what it looks like you naughty people
Netflix and chill.
💜
I love EAT BIG SEA. (not a typo, listen to Road Rage).
I have that CD, I know what you're talking about
And the G R blew out! So it read “Eat Big Sea!”
Aramis419 “the G err blew oat”
It’s all about discipline
It’s always about Allen, even if he’s not the lead vocal…

maybe some sporking.
Sock exchange?!?
This is alright. No doubt, I would enjoy it more if I hadn't heard Luke Kelly's version (which is, let's face it, much, much better than this.)
A nah
Try Luke Kelly's version.far better version
wtf is forking?
Nirad007 google it ;)
It often follows spooning.
great version though luke kelly did it better i think
Sean thinks he good as lead singer...ruined the band
well said luke's was far better
This version is terrible! They murdered this song. Look up The Dubliners or Luke Kelly for how this song is suppose to be sung!
I have to say that listening to Luke Kelly's version is like listening to paint dry.
Good song, but he's not funny.
This is fucking awful.
Harsh.
So are you bud
