Satire also needs an element of exaggeration. That's interesting, as it's becoming impossible to portray a leftist with any exaggeration. It's become satirical to simply dissolve the propaganda and swing the truth around.

The funny thing about all the tweets calling the Bee Republican or right-wing is that if they actually read the Bee regularly, they'd see that it's much more libertarian if it's any political "side."

If you're talking about abortion you're dead wrong. With a heavy heart and tears in their eyes do they let the doctors violently tear apart their unborn child before having it's dismembered limbs sucked out with a vacuum. The Onion was consistently amazing around 2007-2012ish. Now maybe 10% is mildly humorous.

Back in the 90s I had a liberal friend. We worked together and we'd have extensive discussions about our differing viewpoints. He wound up moving back to California but we stayed in touch via regular emails.
From time to time he'd send me jokes about conservatives and they were usually funny because "all comedy has a kernel of truth." After quite a few of these, I sent him a couple of jokes about liberals. His irate response came almost immediately. "You've insulted me and nearly everyone I know. . . . .blah, blah, blah."
I asked why it was OK for him to send me jokes about conservatives but the reverse wasn't OK. He replied with another rant about how conservatives were a joke and used a few more words like morons.
At that I replied, "Good bye. I wish you well but dealing with you is like dealing with a woman, every word needs to be weight carefully." Upon reflection, dealing with all liberals is like talking to a woman because you have to weigh your words carefully so you don't offend them.
Pretty classic. They can dish it out, but can't take it themselves.

I can remember the last time I laughed at a left wing comedian, satire artist, or person. It was over 10 years ago. Wait, that isn't correct, I laugh at normal left wing people almost every day. I'm mostly crying at the same time though, especially when that person is the leader of my country.

Many great cinematic pie fights start with punching sideways. The key is to punch sideways and miss, hitting someone previously uninvolved, thereby widening the pie fight. I am thinking of the pie fight in "The Great Race" as a classic example.

I remember going to the University of Wisconsin in Madison (Where the Onion started) and back then (Early 90's) the Onion was funny. It was satire without the left lean that it has today.
Recently I asked a few students at UW Madison what did they think of the Onion....they had no idea what I was talking about.
The Babylon Bee is only 5 years old and it must already have many times the followers as the Onion.
It has become my observation that "narrative" is a ten dollar college word meaning big, fat lie. Change my mind.
