    Thats cool that it worked. Over $700 for a muffler you have to hack together and will be a pain in the ass to ever separate with that style of compression clamp is insane. Not knocking what you did but you can buy some nice stainless steel clamps in straight or stepped from summit that would seal the difference in the diameter.

      @@LifeWellRiddenToday I successfully attached the 4.1 on a smcr, without cutting the Pipe in any way. I buyed a Stock exhaust and from that I cut off that flansh and welded 2 tubes on it. A oblique one and a straight one. On the straight one I push on the 4.1 and that tube goes about 5“ inside the 4.1 and hold it. It’s relativ dense, because the straight tube got a tiny smaller diameter than the 4.1 and hold it. And on top, I used that mount that you cut off and cut the other one. Sure, I must act on 2 places with a hammer, so that it’s not collide with the tank, and I also use thermotape. My 4.1 is now a bit farther back but roundabout 2-3mm under the indicator. 👍

    • @jaeger_yt
      @jaeger_yt 2 місяці тому

      @@LifeWellRidden firstly my idea was to reuse the Pipe for other exhausts like LeoVince or the Original one for the technical control so I don’t destroy that flansh. Secondly I tried to weld that pipe from the 4.1 to a 1.4571 Tube, but that was not so a great idea, because I have long welded over years on different types of CrNi, but never tried to weld Titanium. So that don’t worked, the weld break apart. And there cames the Idea to make it like my LeoVince Slip on.
      (That „Slip-on“)
      So I buyed a few days ago a stock muffler and cut of that Flansh and a few mm of the Weld to have a little bit material to weld. So I welded them together, the Flansh (1.4301) and my first tube (1.4571) which was very easy. The 1.4571 pipe was roundabout 36mm long and got on both sides a cut with 10 degrees. And than cames the idea to „slip on“ the 4.1 because the Titanium tube from the 4.1 was roundabout 1-1.5mm bigger in diameter than my 1.4571 pipe. But now stands the exhaust 10 degrees to the side away. So I cut another pice of 1.4571 with was 125mm long and cut 2 90 degrees cuts. Then I welded them also together. The 1. pipe with the 10* I used to bring the 4.1 a little bit away from the Tank, and also to use perfectly the first of the two holding points.
      Then I make the Titanium pipe from the 4.1 a little bit smaller with a Hammer. So it fits better. And also I need the hammer on two locations on the exhaust to bring it a few mm away from the tank. Then I take Thermoband out of aluminum all around that critical locations on the tank. And the work was done. And I can every time take the 4.1 away and mount the LeoVince or the original one on it.
      And btw. I’m here in Switzerland, and here are the sound and emissions standards fuck high than over there in US. but naturally only for closed curses. 😅🤣

    Hi mate what’s the best full exhaust for this bike ? Is it worth it getting a full exhaust and would it need chipping? Cheers mate

    • @LifeWellRidden
      @LifeWellRidden  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey! This one is kind of hard to say for sure BUT what I have picked up on is..
      1) The full exhaust would be cool, I didn't see it necessary, performance is hard to say, their is a gain (I'm sure 1-2hp) with a Tekmo Titanium header and the weight savings would be a good chunk, matched with a slip on you would be in the $1k+ range pretty darn quick. The header would need a tune so add on a PC6 or other for another $2-$500 and your already at let's say $1.3k+..
      2) The factory header isn't bad, I'm just cheap and wanted to use it haha and there are no restrictions like cats in it so its basically just pipe. The slip on brings me wayyy more smiles, probably no to little power gain but is worth every cent when you hear it! With this, you don't need to tune but I would suggest because it dose make a difference in the bike!
      Conclusion: If you are looking to save as much lbs as possible and have cash to spend, full titanium exhaust + tune would be sweet! If your like me and just wanted the sound, the slip on is right at home with no tune!

      Thanks man! And not really.. it’s intended for a 500 EXC dirt bike that I hacked to bits to fit.. so everything says “off-road use only”. I think the only thing to truly worry about from a far would be the sound, it’s damn loud and you can keep the baffle in to help reduce the noise.
      Again I am no expert on this or a lawyer so not sure how it pertains to your state or local laws.
      I just figured, we’ll it looks cool, I hate all the other aftermarket options since they stick out so far and Harleys are so damn loud, cops won’t notice a difference.. I am going to the track tomorrow so we will see if this passes safety inspection

      I am currently at he 1,716 mile mark which is not a lot but in chicago I have to winterize for 4-6 months but I have not had any issues with the “stock” bike, I have had issues once modifying it and there is a whole series on my channel of what happened there.. these bikes do seem to eat oil so I usually change the oil ever 500 or so miles and make sure there is enough with the sight glass. I have heard about some oil starvation issues before..
      I would say more of a complaint than a problem would be the transmission, it is really clunky and more like a dirt bike trans than a street bike (basically the point of the bike to mix both) but I noticed the big issues when using the quick shifter, there are some hesitations and false neutrals quite a bit so you really have to be aggressive with your foot.
      When it comes to the maintenance, I would remind you of the oil above, not like a every time you ride but once a week at least. Other than that, just your basics! I spend a lot of time just riding it but when you have to do a lot of “dealer” maintenance like coolant flush or brakes or even some of the other tasks, you can complete those at home (depending on your skill level) I have found the bike very easy to work on and actually really enjoyable to! Hey Carlos, I run the Supermofools Tail Tidy kit (supermofools.com/product/ktm-smc-r-690-tail-tidy-2019-2021/)
      It is an amazing kit and looks great BUT
      1) you have to get your own license plate bolts, no big deal, hardware store and 4 dollars later.
      2) there is NO light for the plate, just brake and turn signals. So, to illuminate the license plate at night and not give the cops another reason to stop, I bought these quarter sized led sticky lights from Amazon and just flip it on when it gets dark (BUTTON LAMP Adhesive LEDs Light Package - Lightweight, Ultra Small, Ultra Bright LED Utility Lights - 6 Pack (BL-6885) www.amazon.com/dp/B0721NYMJN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_CJH2R4DE4X28VXXPFFJH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)

    Do you need to re-map after installing this exhaust?

    • @LifeWellRidden
      @LifeWellRidden  2 роки тому +1

      Technically (after speaking to all the “experts” like dealers and Rottweiler Performance) you do not. your factory O2 sensor will be enough to regulate temperature/fuel ratios for just a slip on.
      BUT.. I would highly suggest doing a tune, it gives you more control and better mapping for longevity and care of the motor. Not to mention a little more power and a more linear curve!

      @@LifeWellRidden Is power commander necessary for the tune or you can just use Akrapovic map?

    • @LifeWellRidden
      @LifeWellRidden  2 роки тому

      @@giorgiomiadze8047 I’m not sure.. I believe (I am just assuming here..) that you can either get a dyno tune which would be free reign to custom tune OR go the PC/or any other plug and play tune. I would love someone with more knowledge to chime in!
      I went with the PCV for a few reasons, 1) I could purchase the complete setup pretuned from Rottweiler and just plug and play 2) be used as a bench mark to dyno/custom tune off of 3) when I purchase more mods from Rottweiler, get support for running.
      What I didn’t account for is the PCV failure I ran into.. I have a whole series of videos on how I tried to figure out what was keeping my bike from running and eventually had the dealer tell me it’s the PCV.. so I would give them a 50/50 shot if it dosent fail again next year haha

      The exhaust being right next to the plastic fuel tank...
      That does not seam like a god job or a good idea.

      And quite a lot of work.
      I'll just buy the Tekmo Full Titanium Exhaust instead.

      @@LifeWellRidden I have seen a few SMC-R where there have been exhaust leaks between the header and slip on.
      Usually because the user did not install the gasget needed between the header and slip on joint spot.
      Also couple DIY jobs that were not done well.
      Those exhaust fumes burn through the plastic tank quite easily and with flammable liquid inside that ends really badly.
      Honestly I don't like the look of that clamp you have on and I'm a bit worried for you.
      Good news is that because you cut off bit of the stock exhaust and there is no flange and the FMF mounts on top of the original header there's less of a chance of an exhaust leak straight towards the tank.
      Only if the clamp shakes loose from the vibration of a big a big single and then the exhaust gas would leak through the cuts made on the FMF and it ends badly.
      Also the clamp itself will get really hot because it's mounted straight on the exhaust so I'd like a bit more clearance between the clamp bolts and the tank.
      Actually I'd like a completely different clamp on it.
      The bad news is that you did smash the exhaust with a hammer 🤣🤔🤔 creating a weaker point on the exhaust where it may eventually leak.
      And that point is right towards the tank.
      And it's at a point where there's a joint in the exhaust so way more likely place for a leak.
      Heat shield tape will do absolutely nothing to help if actual exhaust gass leaks through there.
      Then you are sitting on a mobile Molotov cocktail.
      Good luck.

      @@villea1841 yeah I had a Clarkson moment with the hammer but I’ve ridden many dirt bikes with chunked exhausts and haven’t had issues, I get those are from falling and not “man made” but I’ve wrapped it well enough, done all that I can and I know another UA-camr that referenced the same clamp and I haven’t had any issues, knock on wood. It doesn’t touch any plastic and is plenty far from the tank so we’re good! I just am sharing my install, not an official guide
