    I love this idea! Cutting down on carry in weight is why I switched to saddle hunting. I walk 2-3 miles in on public land through rugged terrain. This is better than my existing method of using a hand climber, and will cut my weight down even more!! Thanks for the idea!

    Exactly what I was looking for. I set my platform early Nov and was at a big fork and needed to me a few feet higher. I dawned on me to use my movable 2 step aider on my platform. It worked and got me thinking of what you did here. Good video

    Thank for this...I will incorporate this into my lw hand climber to get around branches...genious!

    That is just downright nifty. I can see that method catching on. I'll be trying that out in the backyard. Thanks.

    Well, sir...that is awesome. I use my diy LW assault as my platform. Can’t wait to try it as a one stick replacement. BTW, you will love rappelling down.

      What gear do you repel with Kevin?

    • @kevinbiggs3753
      @kevinbiggs3753 4 роки тому +1

      PJ Jackson 35’ Oplux. MadRock Safeguard. 35cm Beal Jammy tied in Klemheist and connected to right side lineman’s loop as backup to the Safeguard.

      Kevin Biggs Can you recommend some good caribiners?

      Kevin Biggs What carabiners should I get?

      PJ Jackson I use Grivel Sym K6G twin gate. Definitely use a locking carabiner. Oval or pear shaped works best.

    This is great! Do you run the risk of dropping the platform, or having it slide down the tree? Thanks for sharing it.

      If he's doing it like he has in the past, he's got an extra strap with a loop at the end he can girth hitch to the tree so that he can support his weight on the second strap while he moves his main tether (the one attached to the harness) down, then hang from the harness while moving the second strap down, back and forth back to the ground. Worst case he could hug the tree while he moves the main tether down. It would suck but he's got options in case the platform dropped.

    Can you show us how you attach the aider to the platform? Is it better to attach at the post or on the end of the platform?

    I can't imagine doing this at 4am in the dark. I'll stick with my ladder stands.

    Can you do a video on your platform in this video? Have you attempted the same with Predator Platform? It was a nightmare when I tried it.

    How do you get down though??? I was considering DRT but this looks like it would be so simple. I can't figure out how you would get down...

    How are you keeping your platform from fully opening up while you are climbing? I am using the predator and it has to open every time I stand on it.

    • @dtaylor6967
      @dtaylor6967 4 роки тому

      I just ordered a predator. Why is it a bad thing for it to fully open up?

    • @jimjarvis482
      @jimjarvis482 4 роки тому

      Nothing bad about it at all. That is actually how I climb by opening it up against the tree each time. It just looked a little more efficient the way he was doing it so I thought I would ask. You will love the predator. They are solid.

      The platform is strapped to the tube to keep it just slightly opened. This gives a large area for foot placement, while not having the platform cam open & shut every move.
